Hey girls I hope every one is staying dry. Getting a lot of rain here.
What I was wondering is after one has SRS what happens with the marriage & insurance? Does the marriage become null & void? Does you spouse get dropped from your insurance? These are all thoughgts that came to me as I drove home from my appointments in the Cities. In a way don't we owe it to our SO's tokeep them covered with insurance? & what about paying taxes as a married couple does that go away also? WOW, many things that I did not think of until the steps are getting closer for me. Really need some input & thanks in advance.
Have a wonderful weekend.

You'll have to check your state laws(if you're in the US), because some states don't accept transsexuals as their chosen gender, just the one they're born to.

A very important point Janelle but easily dealt with. I know that state laws vary in the US, in the UK, as in some US States, the marriage is annulled but you can then enter into a same sex partnership giving your spouse similar rights to those in a "conventional" marriage.
A more simple solution, especially if you are living apart after transition, is to contact your insurance company and make sure that your former spouse is the named beneficiary of your insurance - that is to say, her name rather than terms such as wife, spouse, husband etc. Legally you can make anyone the beneficiary of your insurance so this would not be a problem. You should also make sure you have an up to date will, as with insurance if you want your ex wife to benefit you should name her in the will - Mary Smith nee Bloggs, my former wife - or some such phrase.
