After years of getting by with Internet-special wigs, I finally made an appointment at a wig salon, where a very professional stylist helped me pick out the right wig, then she trimmed and styled it to give me a look I just love....I tried it out at the mall today, and felt so confident! It cost a little more, but I think it was worth it, let me know if you agree:

Windy, the stylist did a great job, the wig looks so good on you. You are quite right, being fitted for the proper wig is so important.

I think a good wig is one of THE most important things a cder has to get right if they are going to go out in public. A lot of people used to tell me that my (older and shorter) wig used to look "wiggy" in pictures, when in fact, if you ever got to see me in real life, the texture and look of my "hair" was way more convincing (in my opinion).
I'm really happy to say that your new wig looks so good in your pics I can only imagine what it must look like in real life! ...the next time we have dinner I'll find out :D
I'm glad you enjoyed the attention and pampering of a professional wig salon and believe me the extra money is totally worth it, because if you if you wear it often, a good wig lasts longer, plus if it ever needs a professional cleaning, afterwards it'll look brand new.

It looks wonderful and very natural. I like the wispy bangs.
I think it's worth it to have it done properly, not to mention the extra confidence it will give you. :hugs:
Getting a wig at a wig salon is the easiest shopping that a cd can do. Wig salons are in the business of fitting and selling hair. They want you to look good. It might be a little more expensive than buying on the net, but it is worth it.
As was said a above, the most important item for feeling and looking great when going out is your hair. A cheap, poorly styled wig is just that--it looks like a wig.
Just go out to a salon and let the professionals do their job.

I agree, with all the comments, that it is rare, to find a used or internet special, to look right. You have more guts, than I do, though. I can't get myself, yet, to go to a wig store, and buy a wig, for cding, however, I do go to cashiers, with hose, earings, lady clothes, with little butterflies, now.

Thanks girls, your comments mean so much to me! Especially Rachel and Erica, who have seen me in the "before" mode....as for those "whispy bangs" they were the creation of my stylist, Alma - after I told her I'd buy the wig, she told me it would look much better if I'd let her create some bangs, and before I could say no she went to work with her scissors - I held my breath, but I guess she knew what she was doing. I wore it out of the store, and felt so confident at the manager's cocktail reception at my hotel, no problems! I've got a pretty good score going at Hot or Not, if you're feeling generous please click here and vote for me (http://www.hotornot.com/r/?eid=EEESERR-KHB).

Geez, Lucille. It doesn't take any "guts". Listen to what everyone is saying. It's as easy as pie. The stylists in wig stores have all helped CDers before and they will help you. Call and make an apointment. Tell them you have never done it before and that you are nervous. Let them help you. You will never regret it and you will probably make a new friend.
Go for it girl.
Lovies,

What I like about this style is that it's short enough to be appropriate for a woman my age, and still looks cute. I've tried shorter wigs before, but they were never right for me. Now I can't wait to dress up again!

So the rest of you girls know, the wig wizzard is Rebecca's fiance, Alma...I was introduced to them recently by Rachel and Marla, who gently suggested that I might benefit from some professional help!

Wow Windy that is such a natural looking wig. It fits perfectly, the wispy bangs are killer, and it compliments your good looks. The only downside side is, no pony tail at the pool in your new skirtini!

Are you kiddin'? No way I'm wearing it to the pool! I kept my ratty old wig and it is still passable in a ponytail if I dolly it up with a scrunchie and a visor....

Mine cost around $125, it was one of the less expensive ones in the store but I liked it the best!

You look fabulous Windy. Yes I agree that the wig specialists are the way to go. The wig is the most important accessorie we buy. It eigher begins or breaks the illusion. I'v got 2 internet wigs in the $50 to $90 range that are OK but not the greatest. I hack around the house and out in the yard with them but to touring or out to dinner my "salon wig" ($140) is first choice. Yes they know how to tailor the cut to suit yours featurs and your age. Well worth the extra cost. Way to go!

It's been almost a week and I'm still in love with my new hairstyle. It is a breeze to style and take care of, and I feel so like a woman now - my confidence just soars when I put it on. The best part: my new hairstyle hides my sideburns and the scruff on the back of my neck, so I don't have to worry about that showing anymore, and also my earrings kinda peek through now, so the fact that I'm wearing clip-ons no longer stands out. So glad I did this!
