:D Okay, just had to share a quick note with everyone. Yesterday was my anniversary, and who knew, the 13th anniversary is traditionally the "lace" anniversary! NO WAY I DIDN'T KNOW THIS! But, I didn't.
I ALWAYS make it a point to check out what the occasion traditionally calls for, but this year's been busy and for whatever reason, I totally blanked and didn't do it. My wife did!
My daughter had a function to attend, so we dropped her there and had two whole hours to ourselves. Went for a nice but quick meal at Chili's, then she took me shopping at a place called Cato's where I was terribly tormented by watching her try on very cool looking clothes at downright thrift store prices. And there I was standing in their shoe department surrounded by the nicest sz 9 and sz 10 heels I've ever seen, all on sale for $8 and $12! She's going back today and I'm sure she'll come home with shoes!
Regardless, we got home, swapped our gifts, she informed me what the traditional gifts were and I was stunned - lace? How could I blow an opportunity such as that?!!! Thankfully, the modern gifts are supposed to be textiles or fur instead of lace, and there, I was saved. I gave her a watch, a new purse, a variety of slippers (several furry ones), a pair of shorts, and a few other odds and ends. She gave me a new shirt and a huge furry "viking-looking" comfy throw thing that has nothing to do with being warm. We'd seen these a while back and she commented on how much fun it would be to roll around on these things - I got the message right away and was very pleased with this seemingly odd present.
Then came the BEST deal. She kept looking at me devilishly after telling me it was the lace anniversay, so I knew she had something else stashed away. Sure enough, when daughter went to bed, she gave me an extremely cool pair of retro white lace undies dripping in lace and a matching 1940's style wide garter belt, also loaded down with beautiful lace! I was floored! She's never bought me anything before, so this was a huge moment.
It was a great evening, and since she's a Harry Potter fanatic, I stood there in the bedroom holding the lacy garments and did my best "Dobi" impression, saying, "master has bought Dobi clothes, Dobi is free!" She burst into hysterial laughter, hugging me tightly, and called me a hopeless lunatic or something like that - to which I agreed! IT WAS A WONDERFUL NIGHT! :heehee:
I love that woman!
Just wanted to share, take care all and God bless! :p
