Hello Ladies,

Well I went out and bought some make up today and pantyhose. When I got home I put on the pantyhose under my man clothes and went out and did a few errants. I must say that it felt quit nice wearing them. Before I took my shower I tried the make up. I guess that I didn't look to clownish. I sure can't come close to you lovely ladies out there. I like the darker lipstick. I tried a lighter color but didn't like it that much. When I get the courage I'll take a picture and post it for your comments. It's a slow process going on ones own, but I plan to keep trying.

Hi Jessica,

Just keep practicing with the makeup and with time you will get the look right and also find it takes less time to do it.

I used to "think" I did a pretty good job with my make-up, but I've got to tell you that it took a GG to really teach me correctly. In my case it was my wonderful wife, but if you aren't married and don't have a suportive gf, surely you can find a GG who will be glad to help. (If you live anywhere near a department store that has a MAC counter, make an appointment with them -- MAC eployees, in general, are very TV-TG-TS friendly.) If you live in an area that doesn't sell MAC (or if you live in another country -- sorry, I didn't look to see where you lived), start stoping by various make-up counters in department stores. Chat with the employees, and I'll bet you'l find that, sooner or later (and probably sooner), you'll find a SA who will get the idea of what you want and help do your make-up!!! (Be sure to buy some product -- it is in no small part how they make a living.) Don't be shy -- many make-up artist are more than happy to help!!!

Oh yeah, I found this extremely interesting: there are GG's out there who, themselves, have no clue how to properly do make-up. A friend's wife works as a rep for a high-end clothing line. Just the other day her DM was in town -- a very classy and well-to-do lady. Well, the latter obviously had no clue how to properly do eye make-up (even though she was well-educated -- the wife of a M.D. -- and involved in selling a very fine women's clothing line). I found it interesting that my friend's wife offered to teach this 45 y.o. woman how to properly apply eye make-up -- and the woman gratefully accepted the offer. So, this is one area that I think you might be a little bold without worrying -- just visit cosmetic counters and drop obvious hints -- be they the absolute truth about you being a CD, or whether you "make up" (no pun intended) some line like you're going to be in a "Mr. Beautiful" type contest for charity. Surely you'll find someone who is more than willing to help!!!

Jessica,

I know the feeling. Now, are you ready to go out wearing lipstick, even a very 'neutral' colour? Try it, hon, you'll love it

Also make sure you get the right makeup. I found out last holoween that I was using the wrong shade of foundation and powder. I was in Walgreens and a SA came up and asked if I needed any help. A man in the cosmetic alsie does rase eyebrows. So I told her I was getting makeup for a custume. She looked at the foundation I had in my hands and then at my face and said I had the wrong shade. I played dumb and asked her which one should I use then. So she did a shade test and it came out as a #105. So I bought a bottle of L'oreal #105 liquid foundation and #105 powder. She then asked me what color lipstick I was going to use. I told her I didn't really know, so back to the cosmectic alsie and she looked at me and selected a tube of L'oreal Mystic Red lipstick. I have to admit that the combination looks great on me.

Practice, practice and practice. It get a bit expensive in trying to find the righ shades of foundation, powder, eye make up, etc. And then there is the right clothes, wig, shoes, etc. But, it is all fun and helps with your confidence. I was pretty much like you just a few months ago, but now feel more and more confident in what I am doing. Send us some shots, even if you think they are bad. We are helpful and not at all hurtfull.:hugs:

Yeah, I'd suggest the help of another crossdresser or someone trained in make-up, some GG's aren't going to know how to tone down the maleness in the face ( especially beard-shadow ). GG's have the advantage of ALREADY looking feminine before make-up ( though there are exceptions ).

There are several companies that have makeup parties in the home. The Motives brand by Market america has had some good reviews and they will have a party in the home. I would imagine that Avon would also be one to try. Just need to find the sales rep that is willing to work with us. Has anyone ever tried to organise a get together for the girls?

Don't worry if you feel you look(ed) like a clown.
The more you fearlessly try, the quicker you will arrive to a place where you can be grateful for your newfound skills, and have a sense of humor about what you used to look like !

You've gotta make-up a lotta Clowns before you can make-up a Princess!
