My wife brought home a paperback copy of Trans Sister Radio, by Chris Bohjalian, and I've been enjoying it a great deal. It was published in 2000, but I didn't see that anyone's discussed it here yet. Have any of you read it, and if so, what did you think of it?

For me reading it has been a great way to explore the fantasy I have of going all the way though SRS, and I think it's helped me sort out that it will remain just that -- a fantasy. (I think.)

Nancy - I read it a few years ago and found it humorous and heartbreaking at the same time. I had a reaction similar to yours - that unless one is truly transsexual (feeling that you were born into the wrong sex body), SRS is just a fantasy. It is very serious and difficult surgery and recovery, not to mention the psychological aspects, and should be approached with caution.
