Female or Male or depends how your dressed?

I use whatever is on sale, sometimes Right Guard sometimes Secret. I don't regard deodorant as being gender related, only something which allows people to be downwind of me.

I used to have some women's deodorant but that was when I had a bathroom to myself. I do try to pick more unisex or no oder stuff though.

If going to work or out with the guys or hitting on women it's male.
If dressed any way it's female. Have 3 diffirent scents in female 1 in male.

It definitely depends on how I'm dressed. Any of the scented male deodorants tend to clash with the perfume.

I haven't used any men's deodorant for several years. Depending on whether or not I am wearing perfume, I will use either a scented deodorant or an unscented one. But always a feminine one!!

Well, it's strong enough for a man but made for a woman :heehee:. Not! I wear what is best suited to how I am dressed.

Deodorant is deodorant as far as I'm concerned but usually use whatever brand fresh powder scent, no matter how I'm dressed. I also use blue razors to shave my legs and not pink ones(it's a "Salandra" thing).

I use femail deodorant Soft and Gentle by Palmolive. The one I am using at the moment is called Soft Jasmin, it does not sting after shaving my under arms.

I've got both (Secret= female and Mennen= male) but I now NEVER use the Mennen.

I LOVE the flowery, fruity scent of the Secret. I WANT to smell that way, even in drab. :D It reminds me of who I am.

As a result of my wifes allergies I had to switch to the brand that she uses, comes from the health food co-op. She uses a roll on and I went with a stick. Wonderfull product! The stick is not as soft as most and it pulled the hair horribly. Now I have nice naked pits. If anyone were to ask I would relate the truth, I have to use a particular deodorant and it hurts to apply so I shave. What a lucky find for me!

I use Secret too. I was using Right Guard but it caused my shaved arm pits to break out in a rash. The Secret solved that problem.

I've used Secret for as long as I can remember when I use any at all. (My pits don't perspire much if at all, but my head rains when outside in the heat.)

To me, deodorant is deoderant. I buy the cheapest stuff that I can find, as long as it works. That's usually Suave.

Most of the time I use Secret, but occasionally when I'm in drab and I feel a need to be "consistently" male for anyone else who might be around and inquisitive, I use a men's deodorant.

Drucilla

I use Secret Clear Gel all the time. I justified it to my wife by showing her the active ingredient vs other brands. It turns out that Secret has 18% vs anywhere from 14-16% for typical sports (aka male) brands. So---not only are getting a fresh somewhat female smell, you are also getting more protection from you money that the "strong Male " brands. Go figure !!

Queen Helene Natural Mint Julep, from health-food groceries. It's a distinctive scent, not really gendered. You might want to be careful if you shave--sometimes the alcohol base stings even at full bloom of underarm hair.

Well, the most important thing is to bath BEFORE you put on any deodorant. When I worked in an E.R., I was always amazed by the number of people who will go out for a night of fun and believe that the deodorant will mask their B.O. It won't!

You have basically 2 choices in all deodorants, products that contain aluminum zirconium and products that don't. The Aluminum zirconium is a drying agent. You will see it listed as the first ingredient. If you get really "wet" under your arms, and your not sensitive, use that one.

Me, I prefer unscented. Never clashes with my perfume. I have a sneaky suspicion that when the deodorant machines are working at Lever Brothers or C/P, they just change the packaging, not the product. Try The Generic Brand at Walmart. Seems to be very effective and it's 99cents for a standard size, whether it has a girly label, or the one for boys.

Peace and Love, Joanie

Don't use any at all.

However, if I did it would be aluminum free. Aluminum gets absorbed through the underarm pores and eventually lodges in the brain. Its been cited as being a primary cause of Alzheimer's.

Now I have to state my firm opinion. Well, my soft opinion.
When dressing, it HAS to be girly, like baby powder. Sometimes I wear that kind anyway but I get funny looks in public but so what?
Guys wear way too much scented stuff and I don't like it.
Once I sat next to a girl in the airport who was wearing the same kind as me, and I felt like we were soul sisters!

I use whatever is on sale and I use it in large amounts.I used Axe for awhile but my nephew who I'm really close to found it too cloying to smell and browbeat me into using something else.I sometimes use my Mom or my sister's deoderant, just whatever they have.I like Secret and there are certain types of perfumes and cologne for women that I am just crazy about.I used to use the grainy kind of stick deoderants but they made me break out in a rash so I stopped.I like body washes and I was wondering if anybody could recommend a good fem shower bodywash with a nice scent.I know that you can buy bath oil beads and surprisingly, they still make Mr.Bubble! But our tub is set up for shower not tub baths.

Dry Idea / Powder Fresh for normal days, Mennen Speed Stick when I know I am going to get really bad. No matter what, you still have to keep from stinking up the neighborhood.

I used to use Old Spice years ago. Showering I use Arbonne Foaming Body Wash. I highly recommend the Arbonne! My whole family uses it so it doesn't stand out and, at work, they're pretty much used to it by now. I use Curel moisturizer, even under my arms, and Shower to Shower, with chamomile, powder. All together it isn't really strong or over powering but yet very femme, at least I think so. The Arbonne is a little pricey but like every one else, I need a little pampering!

I like the womens scents much better, but use my boy stuff when not dressed. I use a neutral aftershave as well- nivea senstitive- not real manly smelling :) I do love to have girls scented on when dressed tho, it really adds to the experience! hugs Chelsea

Secret for me too, the powder fresh stuff. Actually, I find it works better than most of the old "guy" cologned deodorants I used to use.

"It's made for a woman, but strong enough for a man wearing women's clothes, 4" heels, and usually outrageous lingerie" - a new slogan perhaps? Let's see if their advertising agency picks up on this niche market for their product! :tongueout

Hi Everyone,
I am going to tell you of off-use of antiperspirant. I use Mennen Speed Stick, unscented, on my face every time I put on makeup. I sweat alot and this cuts down on my face sweating. If anyone tries this, make sure your face is not sensitive to it and definitely use an unscented type.

06-07-2007, 03:43 PM
Good one Rita! Never thought of that.

And for those of you who play golf, whether you play bare-handed or not, the anti-wetness types with aluminum zirconium can do wonders to keep your hands dry. Ought to work just as well if you get sweaty hands in social situations.

Peace and Love, Joanie
