Now that I have your attention with the title, I did go to a baby shower today for a friend of mine that I haven't seen physically since high school and that was a long time ago. The shower was basically a small get together. It was mix guys and girls so my husband and I both went.
Anyway, my friend and I have been keeping in touch by email and phone so she already knows about my being trans. I'm open about it so she has my permission to tell whoever she wants and of course she told her husband.
To get to the story, I went today not knowing what to expect since I didn't know anyone there and for the first time I actually felt unconditionally accepted. I went casual dress style so I was passing pretty well. The first thing my friend said to me when we spoke was that I looked good. Which was a shock. Her husband, who is also an old friend of ours, shook my hand and we spoke like one of the guys about work. They even introduced me to their friends and family with my male name Mel.
All together it was an emotional experience for me but, I have to say it was the best feeling I have ever had. I just had to tell all of my friends here.

Nice. I don't know about you, but people keep on surprising me. Luckily, the surprise is often pleasant.
