Did anyone in UK watch the latest talent show on ITV last night? One of the acts featured was a 9 piece girl band who came on stage all dressed sexily and wowing the audience and judges (Simon Cowell was one of them). As soon as the leader spoke its was obvious they were not what they seemed. Simon had to actually ask how many were blokes. Turned out they all were.
Anyhow they proceded to do a sexy song and dance routine, which got the audience on their feet cheering and the hosts enjoying something they obviously felt they should feel guilty about enjoying.
The judges were really positive about the act and needless to say voted them through. I too enjoyed it, but afterwards wondered about who is exploiting who and what is being exploited. Then again if you've got it flaunt it. They had it Any comments?
:hugs:

Seems like everywhere you look on TV or movies there are crossdressers, it’s a subject that’s out in the limelight lately. We were just ahead of the times. As long as it is handled with a positive outlook I have no problem.

I just watched the video and noticed that Simon did not even say one thing negitive. It was like he was even enjoying the whole thing. I did get the impression when they first came out that the first judge was not too impressed, kinda like, "AH, a butch of blokes in dresses doing somekind of song number", then they started their number and you could see the amazement on everyones face and when they finished, you really tell all three judges were impressed and the crowd enjoyed it too. I was impressed. Not only do they look hot, but their singing voices were very fem. I hope they get all the way. It would be great if they won.

They seem talented and not too gimmicky.
It is easier to sing in a feminine voice than it is to talk in one because of the concentration and planning. Its the same process that makes it easier for people with a stutter-stammer to sing easily, but harddy be able to speak without huge effort.

I was at a punk show once that had three tribute bands. the first band was a straight-up Ramones tribute band called "The Romaines", and they were great. the last band was a misfits tribute band who were all overweight and called themselves "The Misfats" (they also changed all the lyrics to be about food). they were awesome, and they had a hostess ding-dong eating contest in the middle of their set. but the band in the middle is what I'm here to talk about: they were an all male go-go's tribute band with every member in drag called "We Got The Meat". most of the band members didn't seem like they were necessarily into dressing in drag, and wore their outfits more as costumes than anything else, but the frontman was clearly totally lost in the role of belinda carlyle! he was all about the movements and the clothing, and was very feminine in body language. it was a real treat for this go-go's fan (not to mention this ramones fan and this misfits fan)

months later I was watching jeopardy and the question (or answer, as it were) in a the tribute band catagory was "this all-male band performs songs by the go-go's" or something to that effect. my "OMG, I saw that band!" moment was quickly overshadowed by fury over the fact that none of the contestants got the right answer. that 600 dollars shoulda been mine!

anyway, if you see any upcoming shows in your area by We Got The Meat and you're wondering if it's worth seeing, it is.

Personally I feel it was the talent scouts fault.......they should have vetted the girls auditioning much better than they did.......but as i said, The TG community over here (cant speak for other countries) alot of the time get tarred with the brush of perverts/sex fiends anyway, this just give joe/joe public the impression we are all like that, when we are all thriving for acceptance......those three girls arent helping our cause by appearing in the national media, that said my personal view on sex workers of any variation is of a different opinion but thats another story for another day

Coming from a marketing background and having worked on some v high profile events and with high profile people here in the UK, I can confidently say that the British tabloid press could find "an angle" on most people if they tried hard enough and they really do! The scouts shouldn't be blamed for this, they're not the bloodhounds that these journos are - the three girls in question played what they thought was a really clever game even knowing what our media is like, got a bit too confident and lost.

They should be ashamed of conning all the people they did along the way - their fellow band members and the group of people that put them together.

Not everyone in the UK tabloid press becomes a celebrity out of notoriety, contrary to common belief .... bad call, girls.

is anone going to dig so deep on the other contestants?

So some of them were hookers for their day (night) job?
So what?
Really! Sex workers are human beings aren't they? Is that profession illegal over there? If so they comitted a crime that was unrelated to their activity on the show. If not then it's no different then if they were fashion models or lawyers!

Frankly either way their human rights have been violated because they have been discriminated against. Either for legal behaviour or because they allegedly comitted a crime that they have not yet been convicted for!

Sure its bad for the rest of us all to be assumed to be 'perverts' and 'sex workers' because of a stereotype... considering that more than 60 percent of female uni students in Australia sell sex at least once while persuing their studies....

It's disgraceful! I am absolutely disgusted. Sex workers are human beings and deserve as much support and respect as any other human being.

the kit kat girls were entraining us with song and dance for that moment in time the public loved them and i for one was looking forward to seeing them go far in the competition and it could have help each and everyone of us in the public eye ...

the problem was someone outed a few girls in the band for selling sex ....
as i understand it one of the girls did this to save up money for her surgery
if i had the balls to do that i would too .. i cant it's not me
did anyone consider that if they won this it could be there way out of the sex trade !!!!

i am sorry but what they / we do in our private lives is no one else business it is like any of us going on the show and someone outing us to the world that we cross dress ... what has that got to do with the price of tea in china

They were found out by an undercover reporter who was offered by one of the prostitutes their, um, what you say 'services' at £1000, just hours before they were due to appear on the live finals.

Yup, she offered to take him to bed like no one else had before for £1000, and it was a reporter, im sorry but you just dont do that sort of thing in a middle of a talent contest....leave the business at home!

As Kieron said, a man was found to be a sex offender (allegedly - I don't know and don't want to be sued!). But sensationalising a story like that here in the UK at the moment is taboo in the press because of the little girl snatched in Portugal and the child porn bust yesterday (which the press would have had wind of, I'm sure).

If the band had been all GG's and 3 had been on the game, they'd have got the same treatment by the British press and it would possibly have gone on for much longer - a group of CD girls isn't actually as broadly newsworthy as you think - sex sells, but heterosexual & visually boy/girl sex sells better, over here at least (if that last bit makes sense). I have a client who, years ago, had an ex girlfriend sell her story - and he's not a big name at all, but its gossip all the same.

And you have to remember this is a prime time family show - so the scouts were being very inclusive by thinking it was absolutely fine for the band to appear. You all know that wouldn't have happened not that long ago.

I'm not defending the press, I just know how it works and those girls tried to beat it. One final word - don't try to beat the press over here - you'll get burned!!!

Clearly it was foolish to offer to the reporter.. did she know they were a reporter though? And the price... forgive me if I'm naiive on the subject but that seems a litlle high to me.. could she have been joking at the time?

I wonder if they could sue the show?
I particularly wonder if the rest of the group could sue the show?

y wouldnt have a leg to stand on, its a show made to find a top talent act to entertain The Queen

The Queen's involvement doesn't change international law. If they were kicked out in a way that breaches their rights then they should have legal recourse through the EU or UN even if not British law. I expect there were 'good behaviour' clauses in their contracts but if those clauses breached their rights then they probably count for naught.
