Gem loves them, but has such a hard time attacting them and I am NO help!
I wind up throwing them in the corner. Can you tell I don't wear them myself!

Any suggestions for Gem?

Hi Pattie and Gem.

The main problem I have is getting the to stay fastened, hold ups do'nt work as well as real stockings do. I think having the right amount of tension on the garters themselves helps. Try extending the adjustable garters to the longest position, fasten the stockings and then readjust the garters.I hope this helps.

Love and Hugs both,
Priscilla

Make sure the tab is through the larger hole properly first, THEn slide it down pressing the tab outwards so it grips as it gets into the small loop.

But you probably know that.

Some of them don't grip well anyway so you need to make sure the edges of the smaller loop are really into the groove of the rubber tab when you pull them together, or they just pop off..

Julie's right Patti,

You have to be sure the button (tab?) is pushed completely into the wider part of the metal yoke first (I'm not sure of the technical terms, but I hope you know what I mean). I hold the button and stocking top firmly between my thumb and first finger, while pushing the yoke down over the button with my other hand. Then, as you slide the yoke over the button, make sure both sides of the yoke are UNDER the head of the button. If only one side is under the button head, the whole thing will soon come undone, as Julie pointed out. Then push the button right down to the end of the groove in the yoke. And voila. One suspender firmly attached. Repeat 3 times, 5 times, 7 times, or for as many as you have. To reach them all, you have to be a bit of a contortionist! But Prescilla's suggestion of extending the suspender before fasteneing, and re-tensioning afterwards, may help. It would also extend the time taken to complete that delicious task of putting on your stockings.

I think suspenders are really sexy, and the more the better, so I sometimes wear a suspender (garter) belt as well as using the suspenders on my basque. I wear the belt back to front to more evenly space the suspenders, and I love the feel of tension in the straps and on the stocking tops. My stockings are so tight that there's no chance of wrinkles!

I have had trouble attaching lace-top stockings to the smaller suspenders. The lace is quite thick sometimes, and will not allow the yoke to pass completely over the head of the button, but you soon learn what stockings can be clipped to which suspenders.

Here I go, sounding like an old pro! And I'm only an occasional CDer, but I nearly always wear stockings when I do.

Good luck,

ToniB

the problem for you and em is that they don't make em like they used to. these days they are smaller and mostly made from plastic. I't a pain.

If you have to, hunt around op shops or material shops for the old fashioned ones and sew them onto the sexy new style suspender belts.

The tops of stockings these days also seem to be thicker.

So it's not you being thick... it's the stockings!

This has been answered I guess but here's my 2 cents. Put the stocking up into the space alotted between the button and slide. Thumb the button up w/the stocking material, into position at the top/widest point of the 'slide'. Then holding with your finger and thumb on the button, slide the button downward toward the bottom of the slide. Repeat

(I'm actually telling Pattie how to do this, this feels so weird)

I attach them and then I put 'em on :D

Seriously though, I can't for the life of me figure out how to contort myself to attach them when all they do is pop off anyway :D

We found that the metal tabbed ones seem to work better than those cheesy plastic ones. They are a bit difficult to find anymore.

Priscilla's idea seems marvelous and I plan on trying it just to give my poor old back a rest :D

Some stockings seem to stay attached better than others. I can't seem to get the ones with the thick lace tops to work. I only buy those kind now with the rubbery stay up thingys.

Maybe you could try Berkshire Kicks or Cristal by cette. We found them online. They are both 100% Lycra but feel soo silky. Best of all, they even attach with those cheesy plastic tabs. I prefer the Berkshire Kicks because they are a little less likely to develop a run in them.

Good luck and happy shopping!

I do like Letsdance, fasten the stocking then slide the garter/stockings on like pantyhose.

The ones with plastic parts are harder to operate that the ones with metal.

If the top of the stocking is too thick (like hol-ups), it's even harder to fasten.

That's it!
It's the stocking I am buying Gem. I buy those lacey ones and the just won't stay attached! You are right, they are too thick.
I and Gem have the ones that stay up on their own. I LOVE them. Easier for spazzzz me to handle...
:D
LOL!
Gem loves the garder belt though, so I am going to look for the stockings you talked about.

Thanks so much!!!

I do appeciate all your help and advice. Now I know what the problem is and I don't have to start the bon fire in the back yard!
:D

I think I will look for those suspender ones, that Toni and Celeste talked about too. And thanks Celeste, for reassuring me that is is the stockings that are thick, not me!!!:D

Thanks to Wendy and DonnaT also, for trying to help out this "garder impaired" GG!
LOL!!!

And Tristen...
Bahahahahahahaha!!!
You are too funny!
