View Full Version : A forbidden glimpse into the inner sanctum

Does anyone remember the Saturday Night Live sketch where two couples are having dinner at a restaurant, and the women go to the restroom together? The men get curious about what's keeping them, so they don quickie disguises and sneak into the ladies' room themselves to see what it's like. Inside, it's like a whole other world – all marble, brass and glass, like a resort, with champagne fountains and French doors leading out to beaches or ski slopes – and a hunk in a toga is strumming a harp and crooning, "The Ladies' Room, The Ladies' Room." The men are captured and forced to stay there because they've discovered this huge, dark secret about women's restrooms….

Of course it’s not quite like that in the real world, but I must confess to a secret thrill every time I respectfully enter the inner sanctum.

Yep, especially if you get the key to the women executive's restroom.

Having been invited into the girls room a couple of times to help with makeup and chatter, I can say it was a thrill for me.

Being accepted as a peer, trading tips, helping other girls re-accessorize, or refit their outfits with absolutely none of that "ewwww its a guy" reaction.

It IS a different place, and was more attractive than the party for me, though eventually the party called me back !

Looks like a Roman Spa? Gosh, in most of "The Joints," that I inhabit....I'd settle for somebody just flushing the toilet, after they get done!

Why do they do that? I've seen it in both bathrooms. It's ignorant and crude! A dry floor would also be nice.

Peace and Love, Joanie

Joanie, I have to agree about the trashed out restrooms. I think people are just to lazy or they figure hey it's not my problem. If I did something like that the SO would knock me in to nextweek. I bet they don't do that at home?? ..Patricia.. Ever sit on the pot and wonder if something was going to grab ya?! That's Scarey!!!!!!!!

funny, the ladies rooms I've been in look a lot like mens rooms without a urinal except a bit cleaner and nobody leaves the seats up.

Wow Karen, I've never seen anybody look happier to be in a rest room! Of course, there was that one time I was on I-55 and there wasn't a rest area for something like 70 miles - I was pretty happy to finally see a rest room then... :D

Well I use the women's room quite often now and it's become pretty low key for me. If I am dressed, there's no question.

BUT . . . . . .I do remember the first time. I was dressed and so could not possibly go into the men's room. But I had to pee real bad, so I just took the plunge and went in. My heart was pounding and I sat for quite a while on the toilet just to get my heart rate down. Of course I did calm down after a while and everything was OK. But it's interesting how something so simple as going to the bathroom in the same room as the oposite sex (something we do at home in the same bathroom all the time), can be so traumatic.

Lovies,
Stephenie

Didja ever notice that no woman ever has the desire to go into the men's rest room (I'm not talking about our F T M friends)? Funny thing about that huh?:heehee:

There's a recent chick-lit book out that relates to this, "The men's guide to women's bathroom" by Jo Barrett. She was interviewed on TV yesterday and the discussion was funny, touching on the many differences between men and women in the simple subject of how we use our public bathrooms. Maybe the book is revealing, too, but I haven't yet read it.

Where's a character for "green with envy."

Funny how your story brings back old memories. This has come flooding back to me: When I was in fifth grade I stayed after school one day for some tutoring. When I was leaving the school, all of the halls were quiet and deserted -- and there was that "magical door" beckoning to me -- caling to me to come hither!!! :D Well, I "just had to," so I gathered all of my 9 year old courage and ran in, looked around, then ran out (whew, hall was still deserted).

:heehee: I had pulled it off!!! Funny thing is that since it was a school bathroom, it really wasn't different (except for no urinals) -- nothing special at all, private school notwithstanding . . . except for the fact that I had done it and was thrilled beyond comprehension!!! :blushing:

I truly felt like all the GG's in my class were going to appear outside the school and start going :yrtw: (except they would be saying girl not woman).

Hey -- this isn't to be taken lightly!!! I felt as if I richly deserved a :Party2:

. . . or maybe what I needed was what I secretly wanted the girls to give me (ahem -- :dom:)

(H'mmmm, since it was an Anglican private school, maybe I should have gone to the priest/headmaster and asked for :evilbegon: ,

and then sought out a good :spank: (from one of my gg classmates . . .

or from a well-endowed, leather enclad true dom (you know how 5th graders are: hormones kicking in and imaginations running wild) :dom:

(PM me and I might tell you how much of this story is true!!!)

Oh don't you recall in the era of women's lib and all the protests ? They regularly invaded men's restroom claiming the light was better there.

One trip coming home from S WV... In drab.. Had to stop at a rest area and got out and went in and it hit me...... I'd never been in the mens room at this rest area, only the womens... Lol. And it was disgusting!!

Earlier this year on a family outting, we stopped at a rest area in MD and my son and daughter went in with me... My son went into the mens, my daughter went into the womens and I went into the unisex family restroom.. Old habits are hard to break!! Whish I had my fem clothes along!! Hehe

I often wondered why women went to the lavatory in little herds. I suggested to a GG friend of mine, that maybe it was like Cheech & Chong's "two dogs" routine. She was not best pleased, and was quick to (rather huffily) enlighten me, that "business" is conducted quickly and usually without conversation, but the rest of it was spent looking in the mirror, spritzing perfume, exchanging gossip and commentary about men, and re-applying the war-paint.

I replied, "Oh..."

The more you know.... :heehee:

Having been in the bathrooms' for both genders, I do have to agree that the women's restrooms are usually a bit cleaner and decorated nicely. When my grandmother went to Las Vegas she said the ladies rooms there were very ornate and lavish...so much in fact that they sold picture postcards of them in their guest gift shop. :heehee:

When I was about 14 I had a paper route that passed the only commercial building in the neighborhood. This was a 7 story building with small businesses on the first floor and apartments upstairs. I had been "borrowing" mom's things rather regularly. I didn't have them on this day, but as I passed the building, I had to use the restroom. I decided to go to the ladies' room. The building seemed deserted so I went in, closed the stall door and started relieving myself. Without trying to get crude, I planned to do more than that. About that time the door opened and a pair of high heels entered the stall next to me. My heart was racing. I sat there motionless, hoping my tennis shoes looked enough like my cousins or mothers that the lady wouldn't look my way. After what seemed like forever, she flushed, washed, did whatever else, and turned off the light. She hadn't even noticed I was in there! I gave her a few minutes (in reality, 15 seconds?) and high-tailed it out of there. But oh, it's such a GREAT memory.

Playing in a band gets you into some interesting places sometimes. Once while playing a show at a civic organization we were given the ladies room as a dressing room. It was totally different from the utilitarian men's room. There were mirrors everywhere and it was decorated with art and lots and lots of flowers. So sometimes the womens restroom may be somewhat similar to the SNL sketch.

I see I'm not the only one who has dared to enter the inner sanctum....the only place more mysterious is the women's fitting room, here's a picture I took of myself in the mirror when I tried on my first pair of pants:

During the late 70's, I did janitor work. I clened both restrooms, at a restaurant/lounge. After busy weekend nights, I was shocked, to see how filthy both restrooms were. I had to clean up puke, in the ladies room, regularly, and general mess! Other places, the ladies rooms, have usually been cleaner, a little nicer.

GREAT story, Rene!!! I can definitely relate (ahem)!!!

I got bolder when I got to college -- epecially liked using the lady's room on one particular floor of the library!!! It was so'ooo exciting for reasons I could never explain!!! (Well, maybe I could, but just shouldn't!!! )

Isn't it interesting that so many of us consider the lady's bathroom as a special "inner sanctum," as the thread states?!!!?

The ladies' is a wonderland, but I learned the hard way to do my business and make a graceful exit: in my early days of going out, I wasn't very passable and I got clocked in a hotel restroom by a girl who sicced a security guard on me....talk about stress! I was able to talk my way out of it, but it still gives me shivers every time I think about it.

Ya know Karren you remind me of a part in my favorite movie- Patton- (not very girlie I know)- but any way- When Patton gets to his new command in North Africa and is talking to General Bradley, his aide pulls out the three star insignia for his lapel- even tho it has not been made official yet. We have a thread on being in the girls bathroom and lo and behold here you are in the girls bathroom! You are the best GF! Maybe we could also call you McGyver? hugs Chelsea :tongueout

I just love it when I am dressed and am able to use the womans restrooms where i am at. It just seems natural to be able to go in there and primp like the other girls. I have been to Bears football games before they rehabbed Soldiers Field and the woman used the mens room on a regular basis, did it at old Comiskey Park also. When a girls got to go she don't care where it is as long as she can go, and the lines for the womans room where always so outrageously long that who could wait that long after a couple of beers.
