Our local paper has a small section titled 'News of the Weird'. Today's offering was interesting, though I am offended -in this case-with the 'weird' titling.
"Jenny Bailey was elected mayor in Cambridge, England, in May, and her companion-partner Jennifer Liddle (a former Cambridge city council member) became the equivalent of 'first lady'; both Bailey and Liddle were born males and became women as young adults"
I am impressed that the British are open minded enough to elect a transgendered person, etc. I am sure Jenny is highly qualified. Contrast this to the recent case in Florida where the mayor-or some post like that-was fired due to becoming transgendered or starting the process. We are very un- openminded here in the 'Colonies', and this is disappointing. Is it any wonder most transgendered stay closetted.
Thought others might find this of interest. I am sure if I 'google' it I can learn more. Maybe CNN will pick it up as the "media" loves stories that disparage one person or another.
