No this is not about Shoes per say but a great movie on Starz in Black on Today at 3:50 E/P, just saw it this morning the movie was great.

Inspired by the true story of a traditional English men's footwear factory in Northamptonshire which turned to production of kinky boots for transvestites in order to save the ailing family business and safeguard the jobs of the local community.

Great movie, and I can say that the shoe manufacturing process they show is spot on. (I am a shoemaker myself).

The movie was fun and touching. On a different note: I'm a boots fan and I wanted to own many of their styles.

it is an excellent movie and portrays dressing and transgenderism(no matter how you define it) in a sympathetic and refreshing way--besides I love the custumes(have several pairs of kinky boots Myself and can sympathize with the scene where the main character tries to walk in them for the first time onstage)

I love that movie. It's so amazing, and done so well. My favorite bit is the scene with Lola and her landlady, when she comes in while Lola is sitting in a dressing gown in front of the mirror and asks about Lola being a man. It's just great, so I won't spoil it.

Just watched it a couple of weeks ago with daughter who lives in Northampton. Both of us enjoyed it, and the factory scenes are shot in a real working shoe factory, so are really authentic. Thought the treatment of the Tg character and developing relationships was very good.

I watched it the other night. I have Comcast and it will be available "On Demand" if you subscribe to Starz.

There was another excellent shoe/boot manufacturer in the UK that custom made items for us girls with larger feet. Although their prices were reasonable, little more than off the shelf prices, the products were fine with a great returns policy. I have some Mary Janes and some 3 inch pumps from them. Both in patent black. Love them.

I recently discovered that they have ceased trading, just as I was thinking of getting some thigh-highs from them. Bummer !

Forgot to mention..they were called Hayway Shoes, located in Leicester, I think.

Ya know the movies coming from this side of the water have such a different feel to them than the US ones. Karren mentioned that B&N had breakfast on pluto as well as kinky boots when she bought herself a copy and because of reading that i started watching BOP cos ive had it a couple weeks and havent touched it. Dunno what it is about them but they just feel more..... i dont even know what way to put it really. Maybe gritty is the right word but that doesnt feel right to me. Well maybe for BOP seeing as i just watched an IRA bombing take place in it. Anyone else get that feeling?

Ditto. I thought that Lauren was just to die for at times... too cute! Every time I saw Lola I thought "Serenity"... at least til towards the end when I was captured by the movie. Charlie was just endearing. Overall I loved the movie and intend to add it to my collection one of these days. (loved the boots too!)
