I went and bought my first wig today. It wasn't a difficult experience at all. I went downtown during the middle of rush hour, and just like it's always been said, everyone is so caught up in their own world, no one on the street corner saw this mid-20s guy walk into a wig salon.
The Chinese lady that ran the shop seemed a bit skeptical at first, but soon warmed up to my requests. I tried on a few different styles and colors, but I knew the moment I found the one that "fit." However, I did try on a few more to ween the curiosity that other styles provoked.
I really expected more ... resistance? If I could offer some incoherent wisdom from a newbies perspective; I don't think it's going to be possible to spend money wisely without putting myself out there. Honestly, only one of the five different hairstyles I picked out online would have looked "ok," which could have been a costly mistake. I'm happier knowing I have a wig which looks great, and that I left a sales attendant with a story to tell her friends. Plus, I think there is an aire of excitement which is lost when shopping online; it's a feeling I'll be compelled to pursue again.
Besides paying and leaving, that was it. I know you would normally want pictures about now, but I'm still in need of make up, which is my next challenge (advice on this is humbly accepted). There's also the little matter of a novel regarding some teenage wizard, of which I'm sure you all know nothing about. Rest assured, pics will come when I'm ready.:D
Have a great weekend ladies!
