Hi, Everyone.

Finally took the plunge and went out dressed for an extended period of time - in the middle of the day! Guess what? No one really noticed and if they did, didnt say a word! Couldnt believe it! Went out Sat afternoon at the Sarasota Mall. Talk abt scared! But my Merle Norman "coach" said I looked great and attitude is 90% (sound familar?). So, I did it. Started out in JC Penneys - no one commented. Walked out to the next store - same thing. So, took a deep breath and decided to walk to the other end of the Mall to Dilliards, then to Macys. On the way, right thru the middle of the food court and teenager heaven and family night out. Still - no comments. WOW! Talk abt a rush. Strolled thru the Misses and Womens depts and stayed 45 min at both stores. Window shopped another hour or so and finally left around 6:00 pm - mentally and physically exhausted! Had a teal blue knee length skirt, new blouse, blonde wig, full makeup and jewlery and a great pair of 3" sandals (toes done). My legs were pretty tanned, so i blended in - talk abt a rush! I love the feeling of walking around in a skirt! On Sun, same thing at another mall (1:00 - 3:00pm) and pretty much the same, except two little girls "read" me. Still, no big deal! Felt so good, bought two blouses at JCP AND tried them both on in the fitting rooms. As I went in, passed several GGs, but no one said a word! Ok, my confidence built even more, i went ou this moring and had coffee with a GG friend for 45 min in a high traffic shop. My friend even introduced me to several of her friends (male and female), and all just said hi. I even chatted a bit. My friend made me order my coffee and pay, and said to act natural, raise my voice pitch a bit, but above all, act like you belong (plus a few female mannerisms). I know many of you have said that attitude is how we pass, and that the hardest part is the first time out, but WOW! I'm hooked! I travel to Cinti Wed and already have my bags packed and ready to hit the Kenwood Mall! THANK YOU to ALL for the words of encouragement and advice! Practice, practice, practice makeup and outfits and then just do it!

See, life can be great.

Over the past year I've had only a couple of odd comments, giggles and stares. I think I've gotten more positive comments than negative. I know I've had GG's exclaim how cute my toes are. I think you'll find that for the most part people will not harass you. Some may figure it's none of their business, others may take the idea of, whatever floats your boat, while others may be totally ok with it. Oddly it seems the one closest to us give us the most opposition.

Live, and be free to be, be what you want to be.

Scottey,

For every one posting from a girl who has had an unfortunate experience while dressed, there must be thirty or more from girls who have loved every minute of their first outing. I know i did. The only sad part is that it is never as exciting as that first nerve racking step into the unknown as it becomes commonplace.

So my message to any girl who has not yet gone out en femme, DO IT. The sky does not fall on your head, you will not be arrested, little children will not follow you down the road mocking and pointing at you. You will be one step closer to fulfillingh your femininity.

Oh and please then report your experience. We all love to share.

MsPriscilla and Everyone:

Thank you sooo much for all of your kind words. It is so nice to have support and encouragement from all of you. Priscilla is right - for every sad story there are 30 successful ones. Life is TOOOOO short not to try something new and have fun.And as we all know- the more we dress and go out, the better we get at it. I'm happy to share my ups/downs on going out if anyone is curious before they go out. Just do it!
