The first thing I did was contact and begin seeing a gender therapist (do a websearch for your area). Once the therapist saw that I was who I was, she was willing to write a letter with the TG diagnosis, which I then took to an endocrinologist who prescribed the meds.

Good luck and welcome!

If you're serious about transition, facial hair removal, by electrolysis or laser, Is an important step as early in the process as possible. It will usually take at least a year or more to get that done, the sooner you start, the better.

find a psychologist who deals with gender disorders first. talk, talk, talk to make sure this is what you want. after that get a referral to a doctor who will prescribe and monitor you throught out the process. taking them on your own is "deadly" and can cause blood clots that will kill you!.

be careful Apple, and don't rush to fast. you'll get there in one piece that way. huggs and kisses. christine

How it worked for me at least, I got the ok from my SO, then found a gender therapist, after a few sessions, we talked to my PCP, and refered me to a ENDO doc. Lots of blood work for a base line, then started HRT a day or too after results were in. Well that's it in short.

Good luck:D

I first found a gender therapist. After several months of therapy he referred me to an endocrinoligist for my HRT. I started electrolysis about the same time. Although my beard is far from gone, ALL the dark hair has been removed. This means I can go without makeup because I have absolutely NO beard shadow. I found a hair stylist I like and who seems to do a good job with my hair. I came out to my doctor so he could moniter my general health. I started to build a wardrobe. I visited my local Mary Kay representative for makeup asistance. Then I started coming out to my family and friends. I'm not done with that yet. Recently I applied for and got a job as Stephenie. This month I start voice lessons to develope my female voice. Next month it's a consult with Dr. S for FFS. Whew! Notice I haven't yet mentioned sexual reasignment surgery. That's because it is perhaps the least important of all of these things. Get ALL the rest of your ducks in a row. If you still like what you are doing, THEN think about SRS.

That's the short answer. Getting and using a good GENDER therapist is perhaps the MOST important part of this process. Everything follows from that one thing. A good GENDER therapist can guide you and protect you along and through all the twists and turns of transition. And most importantly, he/she can help you decide if this is really what you want to do, because believe you me girl, this road is expensive, painfull, and full of turmoil not just for you, but for all your loved ones.

Lovies,
Stephenie
