In my recent exploration of my feminine side, I have noticed a few changes that have carried over into my personal life. For one thing, before CD'ing, in male mode I could go for a day without showering, let my beard grow for a week without shaving, eat greasy burgers and pizza all the time, Not care about my clothing (if it covered my nuts, it was good enough), surfing porn on the net, and action movies were the rule.
Since discovering my fem side, daily showers are mandatory sometimes twice daily, Shaving is done daily, whole body; diet has changed to good homecooked meals and clothing decisions are now made with the thought of how do I look, internet porn has not been searched in weeks and a wider variety of movies are now enjoyed.
And they try to tell us what we do is a bad thing?
Has anyone else noticed things like this?

OMG yes!!!! it has enriched my life, and soul!!

There is no way i can explain without taking a few pages, or making to long a post!! You are so right!!! The one thing that changed the guy in me the most, is how i understand a woman better, sense her, really see her, connect to her. The only thing i would change if i could turn back time, is to have accepted this in me so much sooner!!!!

Being trans is just part of who I am. It always has been. Mind you, it plays havoc with the bank balance from time to time and I never seem to have enough wardrobe space.

I found that I do pay more attention to my clothing in male mode and do things like trimming my eyebrows, but my worst thing (or maybe my best thing)is I’m constantly watching out for my legs so I don’t bump or bruise them.

It has made me a very happy person and I try to treat everyone better for I feel quite blessed to be able to dress and act as a woman whenever I want to. Plus to be able to chose from a womans wardrobe instead of just shirts and pants how can you go wrong with a choice like this

CDing has had a huge effect on me. Though I have been a CD'r all my life I only accepted this aspect of myself a year ago and oh yes what a wonderful change it has made. CDing has brought out the best in me , it has made me a softer , a far kinder and caring person. Victori Anne , Viccy has made me a much better and happier person and dare I say a much more understanding spouse to Mrs.M..GG and so I don't carry on to much I will leave off with this one thought...allowing one's self to become whole increases not only the worth of the self but the value of one to ones spouse and to ones family and community.

Same as you. About a year ago I started a thread -"OMG! I'm cleaner"!

Pretty much the only thing I noticed was my fashion sense in drab has gotten much better. Often times I still just wear jeans & a band t-shirt, but I am adding some classier, and better stuff to my wardrobe.

I must agree with Paula. I am who I am and always have been. She is also right about the bank account and as for wardrobe space...thank heavens for a full basement!

Along with those things, being a CD has done other things to, or for, me. I think it has made me become more sensative in many ways (I think more like a girl!), much more respectful of my body, and definitely choosier in what I wear. If I am going out enfemme, I really want to look nice. Years ago, I could care less about how I looked. But after all my years of marriage, to a very accepting and supporting wife, my CD self wants to look his/her best. If possible, I think it may also have helped me be much more caring in my relationships with others. You would have to ask my wonderful GGF about that. She entered my life, via the internet, after my wife passed away 2+ years ago and certainly knows how I feel about her. And Yes, I do still love my wife!

So being a CD has been very good for me!!

WOW, Ronni you are right on the money on this, I was in fact the same way. Porn, etc. I found that the exact same things apply to myself. The greatest benefit that I have gotten out of this is it has forced me to give up some of the worst habits in my life and take steps on correcting them, most of all it has given me a greater perspective on my wife and how much I really do love her and can relate to her. She is still not as accepting as I would like, but over time I think it will make us a closer couple. She is my best friend!!

CD'ing is the most best thing ever happen in my life. before this i was never seem to care about my appearance, only bath once a day :p, i can use one jean for the whole week , didnt shave (believe me, it was a jungle down there !), didnt care much about me eating diet, eat whenever and whatever i want, etc . i dont hv much bad habit since i'm kinda girly since i was a kid :heehee:. i dont like playing in dirt , that kind of stuff.

now, i bath 3 or 4 times a day, keep everything neat, wash laundry much often, shave often , watch my eating diet, etc .

How true about the wardrobe space. My closet has grown in a mere 2 years from 5% girl to 85% girl at least. I actually had to pack unused guy stuff away to make room.
My guy mode is stil conservative, solid colors, reds, whites, blues and blacks. I have always been fairly clean and neatly shaved.

My girl mode is much more colorfully clothed and I shave all over and especially my legs as there is so much of them visible in short skirts and dresses. I always try to look my best as Rosaliy and while I may not "pass" I am happy that most of the time I do "blend."

In the bank account area I have lucked out. There is a GoodWill outlet center near me and I have more than doubled my wardrobe with good clothes for under $50 so far. In fact the most I have spent on one single item so far is $50 and that was a classic 50's sequin dress I got on ebay. I could not resist it.

Whilst everyone's waxing lyrical about dressing being the pilar upon which their lives are built I'll add some balance.

What has CDing done for me?

It's built an emotional defence around me that's been difficult to penetrate and left me reluctant to carry on taking emotional gambles. It's wrecked some otherwise potentially good relationships. It's cost me a fortune over the years for what's sometimes a fleeting comfort and often an underlying worry. It caused me to question the basis of my very existance as a child and caused a great deal of unhappiness. Time spent dressed is usually time spent alone.

There are of course plus points, otherwise it would just be driven by an unfathomable compulsion. Let's not get carried away about how blooming marvelous it is though, many of us would gladly have cast this urge aside if it were possible.

I am sorry sweetie you have had troubles and CDing has hurt you. I honestly have not had many problems and have really been happy the past couple of years that I have been dressing.

Wellll, I'm still the same guy when in guy mode I must say, but I have been better with my diet as of late.

I think that the degree of control I had to use to suppress HER made it very difficult to properly relate to others over time and may be part of why I have been divorced 3 times. But having said that, finally accepting HER and letting her BECOME has done a great deal of good. I could have done without the other stuff but to be complete, SHE simply has to be.

There are many positive things that are emerging as a result of coming to terms with my femme side, however, it has come at a high price.

I know that this is who I should be, I feel it in my heart and soul. I wish that I had accepted this much sooner in my life as it would have helped me avoid the challenges that I am going through now.

I know that I will, by embracing who I really am, be that better person. I am learning that this emergence is a troublesome and confusing process as we let go of our past and move forward into our future. I am also learning that we need to trust our inner voice, our intrinsic wisdom. CDing can bring out a wonderful part of who we are if we just let it flow within us.

I haven't posted for a while.

I think ultimately, returning to the old cliché, we need to be ourselves. The path of acceptance can be long and hard, I am still on that very path. However, the more time passes and the more I get to understand who I am and like it, the better my life is getting and will get.

We all have had our own journey’s here and the journey continues. I certainly had a very similar youth to ClaireT, but I can really relate to Ronniwannabe.
