Girls,
My time on this Forum has me realizing that I know very little about bras. I have seen terminology of types and for what outfits bantered about with regularity and familiarity here. When asked by another here what types of bras I purchased, I really had no answer. With this, I would like refine my purchase and wearing of such. As always, I am sure your input would be very helpful.
I am sure this question has come up before, but if anyone has an article, paper, website, or just advice, I would appreciate it. Some specific questions are when wearing lingerie (obviously not intended to be worn with a bra) what do you do to have breasts? Is there a special bra to put breast forms, or other items that form breasts. One other: when discussing fem items worn en drab some mentioned wearing a type of bra that does not show through a shirt. I would love to know what this type of bra is, but can not imagine what would not show through a dress shirt.

Janine

Janine,
First, go to Nordstroms. They are very helpful and well trained, and they will know everything about bras. Also, they are very professional and will treat you like the queen you are.
Second, many of us don't worry about having breasts. Me, I'm a bit endowed just from loose flab and what scientists in the 70s called "marijuanna titties," but that's another story. I look at not having breasts like not having a vagina. One, what would I do with them? And two, as an answer for one, it'd be worse than playing pocket pool!

Hi. Janine.
When people say there is a bra that will not show too much under a shirt they don’t mean that you could wear a bra with just a shirt over without it showing. Since as you point out it would be very difficult if not imposable to wear anything without it showing under a dress shirt. But during the cooler parts of the year when you wear a shirt or sweatshirt with a jumper over the top you can get away with what we here in the UK call a t-shirt bra. These are made without seams and so do not show up as much under a t-shirt. The other thing to take into consideration when wearing a bra under your shirt when in DRAB is to get a small cup size like A since the larger the cup the more material and the bigger the bulk.
You can see and learn a lot about all types of lingerie (ladies underwear) from one of the main suppliers of underwear in the UK Marks and Spencer’s or as we know it M&S. I know you will not be able to buy from them, but you will get lots of help and information. Here is their web link. M&S WEB (http://www.marksandspencers.co.uk)
On the web site click on Lingerie and scroll down to the bottom of the page look for shopping on line at the bottom left hand side of the page, then click on size guide. This opens another box, now click on Women, this changes to a list of cloths, click on bra and there you are.
I hope this has been of some help, if you need an more help just ask me either on the thread or by PM.

I know from personal experience, you'll really enjoy wearing a bra. When I put on my lingerie, I always wear a bra and match it with the color of panties that I'm wearing. The two in my opinion are inseparable. I don't feel that I'm properly dressed if I don't wear both of them.
As for the lack of breasts, that's no problem with the availability of breast forms and breast enhancers. The price range for these products--especially the forms--is considerable. I bought a pair of forms from www.stockingstore.com for $90+ which I thought was reasonable. Enhancers can be obtained for less than $50 per pair. I usually wear forms and enhancers together.
Several months ago I acquired a special bra which has two sided pockets into which you can place your forms. The brand name is "Monique" and the style# is 2700. It is a nylon and spandex blend. It is quite pretty with some lace and it looks great beneath a slip and dress. Happy bra shopping Janine.

Well after alot of investigation you'll find that every outlet has a different way of measuring. The best thing to do is to stop by and let them measure you and recomend. A bit scary but considering Fredricks, Victoria, Lane Bryants, Sears, Bon Ton, JcPennys ect all seem to use there favorite method. I guess the good thing is that so far I've found 3 main ways to determine what works. I've noticed in most department and sometimes on the strap of the bra there is the recomended measurement for that brand. Hope that helps. I can be more specific but don't want to write a novel.

Bra types:
http://www.bras-r-us.gb.net/tops.html See for example, the description on the "Natural Bra" which can be worn in cases where other bras would be inapropriate.

A man walked into the ladies department of a Macy's and shyly walked up to the woman behind the counter and said, "I'd like to buy a bra for my wife." "What type of bra?" asked the clerk. "Type?" inquires the man, "There is more than one type?" "Look around," said the saleslady, as she showed a sea of bras in every shape, size, color and material imaginable. "Actually, even with all of this variety, there are really only four types of bras to choose from." Relieved, the man asked about the types. The saleslady replied "There are the Catholic, the Salvation Army, the Presbyterian, and the Baptist types. Which one would you prefer?" Now befuddled, the man asked about the differences between them. The saleslady responded, "It is all really quite simple... The Catholic type supports the masses. The Salvation Army type lifts the fallen, The Presbyterian type keeps them staunch and upright, and the Baptist type makes mountains out of mole hills."
