I just got my hands on the most gorgeous fuchsia formal evening. Now I need to get shoes that go with it.

What colour and/or type of shoes do you think would go with such a dress.

Silver strappy high heels Natasha, or better still, fuschia ones. They may be difficult to match exactly, but you can always dye white ones. Good luck.

I would get the dyeables they sell at payless. Thats probably your best bet.

I'll agree with Donna T's third choice or Ava's. Either one will look wonderful!

Hi honey,

i pressume it is a floor length ballgown? If so, my choice would be a very delicate high heel evening style, strappies, mules or possibly peep-hole/ ankle straps (tho' anything peep-hole can look a bit 1950's or weddingy). Big shoes can make feet look cumbersome under a ballgown or floor length ( and are cumbersome if you are wearing petties). They are best with clubby outfis, miniskirts, jeans or hot pants. I would aim for Cinderella not Barbarella.

Platforms i think are therefore out, tho' i think all Donna's choices lovely shoes, i think only her last choice are really possible. If you go for fuschia, the shade needs to match well and you will need matching clutchbag, stole and long or slouch gloves. But then i think you may have way too much fuschia and those fuschia accessories may go with little else in your wardrobe.

I have a fuschia dress and it is a bummer to accessorise, only silver really seems to work (and the bitch is i don't much like silver shoes), my fuschia shoes make it all look too much, white too stark and black too severe. Soo i'd go with Toni and first think of silver accessories possibly then consider grey or maybe even a light blue (if you dare try a mardi gras/ tropical slant). These do not need to match the shade of your dress, you can more possibly wear them with other outfits and it should be easier to find in the styles you like.

Without seeing the dress who can really say, and in the end it is a matter of trial and error until your mirror screams .. GORGEOUS .. and i am sure it will for you darling :)

Here it is. I didn't have time to get all gorgeous so it's just my body with the dress on, and the shoes I don't want to use. It also needs to be steam ironed to get rid of the wrinkles from being in the post. I agree with Tiffany about not wanting platforms and I do like the 3rd choice if they end up matching. Other than that I will have to settle for the silver shoes.

:) At least I finally got my dream dress though. I've always wanted one like this and struggled to find it in my size! :)

Yes I agree the third choice of Donna's are sooooo sweet. Found them at Zappo's and will be getting me some of them too. I think they will suit your dress beautifully and are the perfect femme shoe for a night out.

Thanx ladies and good luck when you go out in your new dress Natasha :D

Hi Natasha.

Wow what a lovely dress it looks stunning. I agree you need the right type and colour of shoe to show it off fully.

But I could not possible give you good enough advice from just a photo. So please send it straight to me and I will be able to give you better advice after wearing it for a week or so.

I will send it right back with my written report on the colour and style of shoe that would suit the dress best.

What did you say??? Will I send it back?? Of course I will send it back, I promise to send it back. As you know a girl cannot break her promise unless she has her fingers crossed at the time of making the promise.

Must close now, please forgive any typos, but you would never believe just how difficult it is typing with all your fingers crossed. LOL. :)

While matching shoes would look good, I think the silver shoes you have there look great! Only thing, is you have to balance it with an ornate silver necklace or choker, or try a silver chain around the waist...

A silver watch and/or handbag would do well, to. Just don't mix 3 motifs/colors here. :)

A more difficult accessory to find might be a silver/fuchsia shawl or wrap.

Gorgeous dress!

I agree with you all that the third pair is perfect. I have instantly fell in love with them. my mind race with different possiblities of outfits I could wear with them. They are truly a sofisticated shoe with a very sexy look. They will make anyones legs look great.
I jumped on to the site zappos, WOW there are tons of shoes. I could be on there for hours. Well as you know, I do love to shop.
Good luck Natasha with the hunt. I agree that it sucks that they only deliver to the US. Well do what I'm going to do, find a buddy in the US, ship it to them and they can ship it to you.

Thanks for all you help everyone. I've decided to find a strappy sandal in silver. But finding that in my size (UK10/US11-12) that also ships to South Africa is proving tough.

I found exactly what I wanted at Zappo's and some other sites.

Will keep up the hunt.

I like the idea of fuchsia sandals too, but face the same challenges in actually getting a pair shipped here!

Thanks, I just ordered from Nadir. Simple transaction, and even accepts PayPal which is great. I hate giving all and sundry my credit card information.

Finding the right shoes in the right size is so hard. I finally settled for these (right! as if we can settle for just one pair of shoes!!!

I do think their shipping charges are excessive. I buy lots of items off international websites and $40.00 seems a bit steep (about double other places). Hopefully the shoes arrive quickly asa result.

Love the shoes Natasha
I've been looking for 5" strapy sandals; there's plenty about, and I've found Fredrick's of Hollywood are lowest cost. As a UK resident, I don't know their reputation for quality. I will only use them occasionally around the house when my wife is out (maybe on the patio after dark too!). I assume they will ship to UK, but can I expect them to stand up to occasional wear without breaking straps, heels or generally falling apart? I'm interesed in the one in the pic. An opinion from any of you US gals would be appreciated.

Thanks
ToniB

I've bought plenty of shoes from Fredericks. They even ship to South Africa!

Their shoes are OK, a lot better quality than Payless and seem on par in terms of quality with those you can buy from Victoria's Secret.

I think it very much depends on the shoe you buy though, if they're meant for work then they'll probably be hardier than formal evening shoes, mainly because they're not as delicately constructed.

If you want tough, good looking shoes then you've got to find the stripper suppliers.

Incidentally, Ru Paul, swears by Fredericks shoes in her book
