We have protesters at my college with these giant, really nasty anti-gay signs... They tried to give me their literature (you know, because I look so straight...) and I ripped it up and threw it back at them.

A gay guy friend of mine and I are planning on seeing how well I pass by being all cuddly and PDA-ish in front of them... it should be interesting!

Lovely. :Angry3: It's one thing to object to homosexuality, it's another thing to be hostile about it.

Have fun throwing them off.

One of my (gay) buddies snapped this shot:

Fun stuff... according to one of my sophmore friends, they come every year at the beginning of the year and camp out for about two weeks and annoy the sh*t out of people. The guy holding the Gay and Proud sign is my hero. :p

Ooooh, I'd like to see those guys show up on my campus. We're rather rabidly lesbian/open about lesbianism.

Actually, no, don't have them come. They'd probably get beat up here.

The guy in blue secretly wishes he could be openly gay. Actually there was a some study done about homophobes. X many straight men who didn't have a problem with homosexuals and an equal number of homophobic men. They had them sit in a room and watch gay porn while hooked up a machine that monitored things with their penises. The men who didn't have a problem with gays didn't get turned on by the gay porn, but all the homophobic men were aroused by it. Even though they adamantly denied it so now when I hear people gay bashing, I just want to share this with them. Because to me it's like they are admitting they have secret desires to at least experiment with a man. Maybe not be completely gay, but at least bi curious.

I happened to catch the special on television that showed the study that you were talking about Tristan. I agree with your assessment of the study 100%.

Gutherie, I'm curious to hear about what happens when you go for the PDA when passing. I want lots of good details. Just make sure that you and your friend be carefull. People are crazy.

A case of "thou protests too much", I suppose. A person's sexual preferences is his own business---a person not bothered by his own sexuality, what ever it may be, would not be very inclined to comment about the sexuality of another. A gay basher, on the other hand, with his very loud , uncalled-for comments, attracting attention to himself, actually is saying "Hey look at me! I HATE queers!, you see how angry I am? I bet you dont think I"M a queer. No sir!, Not me!".

Obviously anyone who litterally said THAT would immediately come under suspision, but making a BIG show and a lotta noise about how much one hates queers, especially if unprovoked, IS essentially doing the same thing if you think about it.

My conclusion is that Gay bashers actually FEAR that they are, deep down, really gay, and that it might somehow "show", so they go out of their way ro make sure that all around them KNOW that they "HATE" gays. Unfortunately, they make us non-concerned folks very suspicious of their actions, just the opposite effect of what they desire.

Ironically, I personally feel that a lot of the gay bashers are not really gay at all, but FEAR they are, and make jackasses out of them selves, because of popular mythology, they dont know what "gay" or "homosexual" really means.

Their concern and angst is all for naught.

A few weeks ago, Phelps and the Whelps were in LA preaching their hate, and Peter Paige (Emmet on Queer as Folk) sent out an action alert asking people to pledge what they could for every hour Phelps ranted to a programme for homeless queer youth.

As I understand it, they brought in a fair amount, and sent Phelps a Thank You note for helping with the fundraising.

Maybe something similar could work for the LGBTIQ on a campus... Hmmm...

That is truly wonderful!!! I love sh*t like that... I don't know if they're coming back tomorrow, but if they do I think it's high time for some homoantics, no?:D

Nutters, the lot of them.

Last time I saw a group like that we went back to our dorm rooms and put together our own signs with the most ridiculus bible verses we could find - stuff about not eating fruit off young trees etc then we went back out and stood next to them. It was a lot of fun actually, I don't think I've ever protested against handicapped people going to church Duet 23:2 ditto guys who have a ball that ain't dropped Duet 23:1. They tried to edge away but we kept sidling up next them, pointing out that we only wanted what they wanted - a total and literal interpretation of the Book of God to be pasted on everything we do, and so they should sell us their daughters - Exodus 21. They left after an hour so, didn't come back. Bummer.

Oh man, what a bunch of idiots. Try not to let them get to you too much. I do hope you're pda-game freeks them (as long as they don't get violent).

Me and a friend had a saying about two (independant) people we unfortunatly knew: 'you can't be that homophobick and strate'. Maybe you could let them know that?

(p.s. perks, that is hilerious! I think that should be adopted as a generalised stratagy)
