Hi everyone,

I'm just in the beginning stages of going out in public, & I've been wondering if anyone has ideas for acquiring some form of valid femme identification, meaning a regular ID, but with our femme picture. :doll:

Do any states do this? If not, they should!
Any other ideas???

I'll be the dummy and ask why do you need one?

My credit card works just fine through scanners, and I carry cash just in case I don't want the cashier to see my male name. My driver's license worked just fine through a police checkpoint (okay, policeman got a good laugh, but he was polite). Clubs I go to are CD/TG friendly and the driver's license works for age, these establishments don't make any scene of there being a photo of a guy on my ID.

So why do you need one sis? (besides for "proper" identification).

Since the only official, valid ID comes from a government agency (city, town, county and US) you might be out of luck. Your best bet is to carry you "guy" id with you and be totally honest when its needed IE; with law enforcement.

I saw a thread not long ago about one of us having a bad scene at a casino because her face didn't match the ID. With more & more loss of civil liberties everyday in this country, I thought there might be other situations soon where a valid ID might be somewhat important. I don't know what those circumstances might be, but with every loss of our freedom, the burdens of it get placed more upon the individual. It also seems that if we currently have no resource for this, now would be a good time to establish the availability of it to us for potential future needs.

Well in PA and I think FL as well you can get an alternate I'd that looks like a drivers licence but its not.. With your fem photo on it.. Can't remember about the name..

And I'm with the dummy.. I mean Emily.. :D.... Ya don't need it because if your pulled over the I'd is not a valid drivers licence so your going to have to show the nice officer it any way..

Wouldn't bother me to show my male I'd. As long as your not concelling your identity for illegal purposes they have no problem with how you dress..

If you would like to get a credit card in your fem name to use when out and about, American Express is very good about sending additional cards. The primary card holder must make the request. I have a friend who carries one card in is legal name and a second card with Santa on it. He looks the part.

Veronica,
In Georgia it is very easy to get an official state issued ID with your femme picture on it. See this old thread for details: http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15706

you could get a Identity Card from the Motor Vehicle Division. It would have to have your male name, but it can be had in additon to the drivers licence and could have a different picture.

Thank you ladies . I think I'll get one, ya never know when it might come in handy. Now, if I can just talk 'em into letting me use a professional "glamor-shot" picture on it......

Going out and about enfemme is legal, identifying or presenting yourself as a female when you have not jumped through the proper legal hoops is illegal.

Here in KY we can go down dressed and get a photo ID done in no time. I do want one so when I am out and do have problems I can give my DL and ID to the officer. It's better safe than sorry.

When I go out I carry my (male) drivers license and a credit card with my photo (also male.) The only time I've had to show my ID was when I locked my key in the motel room and I went to the office to get another.

I don't know for sure, but in Ontario you guy purchase "Age of Majority" cards, which say your age, and I believe they have a picture (would make sense). So I could see the faces matching, but I don't know about the name.

Check-out this thread from not long ago. http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64017The other alternative is to go sort of half-way for your pic. A little girly but recongnizeable as both your male self and female self. I had thought about that until I found out I could get a state id that wasn't a drivers liscense. A few states allow that, most do not.

Good luck

As things change with security you will need a iD if your out infeme. Last week when going to airport they told my SO if the ID does not match his looks i would not be aloud through to board the plane. That sucked!!!! Traveled in drab since i had no other ID.

Well thank you all again. :Peace:
I hope to spend much of my time out en-femme in the future, so a valid ID seems like a logical "accessory" for my purse. It will help make things smoother & simpler while using credit cards w/my male info; & allow safe, easy passage through security checkpoints, & possibly even prevent fraud charges in a rare situation. I know that our sister who was recently humiliated & denied entry to a casino sure could've benefited from having one.

I think I'll try to get one both here in Florida, & another when I move back to N. Carolina, since I'll be traveling back & forth occasionally.
Now... what hairstyle to use... what eyeshadow & lipstick colors... which earrings???:strugglin:idontknow::thinking:

I am with Emily and Karren on this one. Why do you need it. I have yet to have a case where my male ID does not work. And I use my male credit cards and male ID all the time. I even have "See ID" on all of my credit cards so in most cases they ask for my ID even if they may not normally.

Besides I see the clerk knowing you are a male and dressed enfemme as a good thing. It gives us CDers a chance to educate others and provide a good image of a CDer to others.

To me, this is one point where many CDers go over the line to deceit. Like others have said, trying to make someone believe you are someone you are not, is fraud. It is one thing to dress enfemme and allow others to view you how ever they choose to view you. But correcting someone that you are female when you are really male or male when you are really female or wanting someone to believe your CD name is your real name goes over the line.

And I know for many CDers the illusion of "Passing" is what they strive for. And IMHO there is nothing wrong with that. But when that fine line is crossed and from your mouth or presentation of an ID or some other means, you want someone to believe you are legally someone else it is deceit and fraud.

I say go out and just be yourself. Your mental attitude, confidence, interactions with others, and physical presentation will show others who you really are.

P.S. This only pertains to CDers and not TG pushing TS who actually feel they are someone else. That is another discussion.

Veronica, I say to that maybe or maybe not. There are bigots, a-holes, red necks, prejudice, narrow minded, and other such people all over. And they are not just aimed at TG's. These people are who they are and changing their mind is like turning a boulder to sand with a tooth pick. We just have to live with these people in life I hate to say it. And laws and other action does little to change all of their minds. There are still people in the USA that believe the blacks should still be slaves, that women should not vote, gays have few rights.

Baley, I have not done it, but there are posts on this forum of those that have flown enfemme.

Thanks for your input Kimberly, but did you actually read why I think a valid ID could be useful??

I agree with you about the value inherent in our public visibility. But, there are obviously certain situations where our regular, male ID's would be useless. It's not about trying to deceive anyone, it's about gaining more ability to go where we want, without getting hung-up in red-tape bulls**t. It's about avoiding the possibility of fraud charges by not showing a false name with our femme picture. I never said anything about using a femme name on an ID, only a femme picture.

I appreciate your views dear, but please read what is written before you accuse someone of being deceitful. :hugs:

Veronica

Veronica, yes I did read and understand why you want two ID's. Like I said this is a fine line area, and it is also variable depending on the situation. I do see advantages to having and using both ID's together in possibly some cases. But like I said, I have yet to encounter a case where it may have helped.

As to accusing you, I just stated "many CDers" and my opinion on examples where the fine line was. I guess either you did not understand I was making a general statement at that point or you feel you crossed my opinion of the fine line. I was not personally making any judgment of you because I do not know you well enough to do that. And I am sorry if you took this the wrong way.

In life there is nothing wrong with agreeing to disagree and go on with life.

No problem Kimberly. Communicating through forums like this can be quite enlightening, but it's also often easy to confuse each others meanings without the verbal cues & facial expressions we use in normal conversation. I just wanted things to be clear for future seekers who find this thread.
Go in peace my sister... :meditate::Peace::wave2:

Texas has a state ID card. Mother did not drive but had one of these for offical ID. Not sure if you can have both a State ID an a State DL.

Well girls, here's what I did.

I called the state DMV and told them that my appearance no longer matched the picture on my DL. I said nothing about gender, just that my picture didn't look like me any more. They told me to just go get another picture taken.

So, one morning (I waited for a "good hair day") I showed up at the DMV and told them I wanted a new picture on my license. The woman give me the proper form to fill out and a number to wait for. As I was filling out the form, I came to the SEX question. I said to myself, what the heck, and checked F.
When my number was called, I went to the window paid my money, got my picture taken, and there, along with an atrocious picture of Stephenie, was the big "F".

Now, this is not really relevant to all of you as I am 24/7 now, and I will present female any time I am stopped, or need my license for ID, but it does illustrate how easy it MAY be to get what you are calling a VALID ID.

I have since gotten my court order for my name change, and am just waiting for another "good hair day" to go back and get the proper name on my DL.

Lovies,
Stephenie

I would check with your state on that, I do know if you are "challenged" and you are a legal male and you identify yourself to a cop as a woman you can be arrested. You must identify yourself as male even when dressed enfemme on a traffic stop in most places I know of, again it is not illegal to go out enfemme but technically you can be busted for using the ladies room or trying to decieve people.

Niya W

that might be true in your state, but i've been stopped by the police. Never had to tell them i'm a man. Just show them my DL. Cant be arrest for using the womans bathroom will dressed. Not trying to deceive any one .
