As has been mentioned here before, MAC cosmetic counters are so friendly to us (TG-CD-TS) -- and even in redneck country.

I was in the mall in Macon, Georgia the other day and told the MAC consultnt I wanted some foundation that would blend better with the MAC concealer I had picked-up in Las Vegas. She asked if it was for my wife, what skin tone, etc. -- to which I simply said in a very matter-of-fact way, that it was for me -- that I wouldn't dare buy makeup for my wife without her with me. The SA was too cool. She asked what I had, and tried a few things on my hand, then, when she thought she had the right shade, asked if I minded if she put it on my face. I said go ahead, thinking she was just going to put a dab on my face to see how it blended/looked. Next thing I know, she has put it all over my face, and is handing me a mirror and asking what think?!! It was great!!!

Then, heading back to Las Vegas, I dropped by the MAC counter at one department store where they had helped me and my wife so much with some great advice regarding shades and hues several months ago. The MAC SA wanted to see our "wedding proofs" from earlier this year. She showed them all around and everyone was so genuinely complimentary and nice!!! It really made me feel so good!!! I bought some more makeup from this girl, then she helped my wife at another counter where my wife wanted something in addition to MAC. I overheard heard my wife saying she hoped we weren't making her too uncomfortable or anything (regarding me, of course), to which the girl (neither of them knowing I was listening in) said, "No -- we think you two are the greatest couple and envy your husband's sense of freedom of expressing who he is -- and we envy your acceptance!" Yep, she'll get more of my business!!!

As we were leaving, she came up and gave us her business card and said that if ever I wanted to do a photo shoot or anything in the future, she'd love to do my makeup -- and my wife's too, of course.

Fantastic. I have been thinking I should really try out MAC's TG friendly policy; your post encourages me to have a go.

Wow, thats great Sheri!! I did the same thing you did, at a cosmetic counter, sept i showed her a pic of me on my phone, and she said....who is this, i said it was me, i need make up <giggles> it didn't go as well as with your consultant, but it wasn't bad either. That was some really nice things she said to you two :D

Fantastic. I have been thinking I should really try out MAC's TG friendly policy; your post encourages me to have a go.

I was reluctant the first time I walked up to a MAC counter determined to be honest about what I was buying (or, rather, who I was buying for). But, not only was it not a problem, they have, so far, all been so accepting!!! In what I said above about my wife talking to the SA at the MAC counter at the Las Vegas department store, I later told my wife about overhearing her conversation with the SA. My wife said she had said that to the SA for a reason: she (my wife) wanted to really get a guage of the SA's opinions regarding CDers and felt she might get her to open up away from me. We were both very pleased to see that it was no act!!! They really are so TG-CD-TS friendly -- it is genuine!!! There may be exceptions to this, but it would really shock me to hear it about the MAC folks!!!

Great salesmanship on Mac's part.

We have a high desire to buy stuff
and if the MAC people are that supportive
then they pretty much have customers for life

way to go MAC

Glad you had a great time. I'm sure they're out there, but I've never heard/read a negative report about MAC and CDers.

My experiences have been positive as well.

I had finally worked up enough nerve to go to the mall and visit the MAC counter after listening to all you ladies. I asked one of the associcates if she would help me with the selection of some of their cosmetics for myself. She asked what I would like and I informed her that I would like everything. She smiled and started with moisturizer and helped me with everything down to the right lipstic and brushes to apply everything. She offered to do a make over any time, she said that usually during the week and before lunch they were the least busiest. She had given me her card and said to call her anytime I needed any help with anything. Thank you all for your words of incouragement.

The make up holds up very well. It does exactly what it is supposed to do: cover and blend beautifully with a variety of skin tones. It will not absorb into the skin or fade away a few hours after the initial application. Having used a wide variety of foundations over the years, I find that MAC products are truly superior.

Some history:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_Cosmetics

MAC website:
http://www.maccosmetics.com/

MAC also keeps a national database of purchases, so if ever you are at the MAC counter and cannot remember the foundation number or the name of that favorite lipstick you purchased eight months ago, they can easily retrieve the information. I've been a devout MAC user since the late '80s. Prices are not exorbitant. No, I do not work for MAC. :)

It is good to hear they are TG friendly too! :cheer:

I've shopped a few times at MAC in Georgetown in DC and everytime the salesperson was awesome. There's something about that place (maybe training?) that makes them supercool with trannies.

I've only had good experiences shopping there, I recommend it highly.

This past Wednesday, I was in Perimeter Mall, SCC was going on across the street and I saw a few of the girls in the mall. I was in boy mode but stopped by the MAC store. I started talking to one of the SA and they offered to do a makeover on me right then and there. I was made to feel so at ease that I accepted. I was in the chair in the middle of the store for over an hour. None of the customers seem to care one bit and the other SA came over one by one complimenting me on my new makeover. One asked my femme name and started calling me by Emily while I was there in the store. They all said how pretty my eyes looked after the makeover. I purchased some of the make-up they used. All SA were super cool and friendly to me and even invited me back.

The MAC counter that I shop regularly is just as friendly. They pick makeup out for me and make me cards so that I can duplicate the makeup looks. All SA that I have encountered in the past 1 1/2 years have all been super supportive. I love MAC there makeup is awesome, colors are pretty, and the SA are super cool to us. I will post pics when I can get my camera to work.

All I can say is WOW, what a wonderful experience and cant wait to go back.

I have to say that after my makeover I just love their foundation. It gives a really nice matte finish and lasts all night long! It doesn't seem to transfer or rub off like my old foundation and really has a nice natural no makeup look. They'll definitely be getting more of my money!

On Thursday, I was out dressed and stopped at Macy's in the South Shore Plaza here in Mass. I hit the MAC counter to browse and the SA was so nice! In fact, all 3 girls at the counter made me feel very welcome. She gave me samples of two foundations to try. I am going to go back next week in guy mode to buy the lip treatment and willl report back to her on which foundation I liked. I just might be switching from the brands I normally buy!

I really like hearing stories like yours! I have yet to hear of anyone having a bad experience with MAC people. I'll tell you, I have switched from the brands I used to buy b/c MAC has, by SA attitude and quality product, has earned my business!!!

Thanks for the info, Cindy -- you party animal, you!!! I knew MAC held up well in like the Las Vegas heat. But I didn't have first hand knowledge of how it responded to the dance floor environment. I do know that, like the last time I was in Vegas I put on some MAC eye shadow one morning, and even after hours upon hours of being in the casinos and shopping in the malls and going to a show, it still looked fresh!!!

I have actually spoke to MAC's head offices here in the UK to do a product search, whilst in conversation i mentioned how friendly the stores i had been in with girls had been, only to get told it is actually in their policy to treat transpeople with respect because of the heaviness of some of their make up, it means many trans-girls are going to buy it for beard cover, they have found a niche market and they want to keep a hold of it :), so there you are girls its actually in policy
