Anyone know this book?

Recently, I saw a book introduced on TV about a female author who took on a male identity for a time in order to compare the experiences of men and women and their relationship with the rest of society. Does anyone know the book title and/or the author's name? I thought it would be helpful to pass it on to a friend who doesn't understand men in general and her husband in particular. No, he's not an MTF or anything like that. They are just on such opposite extremes of the Venus/Mars spectrum that they have little in common. Please help.

I read that book. i think she learned more about being a guy in those months than i ever have (LOL). i have gone blissfully thru life without any idea what's going on. and i'm all right with that.:D
