wifey had surgery yesterday, outpatient procedure, so was sitting in the waiting room, which was fairly crowded, bored to tears, decided to have a little fun. plopped myself down in a chair, right in the middle of everyone, crossed my legs, above the knee of course, dug out my nail file, lotion and cuticle stick and proceeded to give myself a manicure. was going out of my way to look as girlie as possible, just to see if i could get a reaction, and couldnt even get a sideways glance, much less a dirty look. i am sure that most who were waiting on other patients were preoccupied with their own problems, but there were many doctors, nurses, and other employees generally milling about. i honestly was a little disappointed! just goes to show how little attention people really pay, or how little they care. so when you are worrying that someone might notice some small detail,or underdressing, be confident that if they do they are the one in a million who is actually anal enough to notice!

Well if they are like me when I have to go to the hospital, they have more important and most likely serious problems to deal with else they wouldn't be at the hospital!! Lol. Pop into the local motercycle bar and try the same thing and see what kind of reaction you get? Lol.

:D

I have done similar things. I have sat in meetings where the conference table is glass, so you can see other peoples legs. I too have sat there with one leg over the knee of the other with my long acrylic nails resting on the top of the table and no one noticed. I even sat in the front row at my sisters church one day watching a holiday performence again with one leg resting on the knee of the other leg, with my acrylic nailed hands resting on my knee. Again no one noticed. I now wear a light Pink nail polish on my nails and no one even here at work has noticed. LOL

Well, the very first time I went anywhere not CD/TG related I was TOTALLY ignored.

I had been going dressed to my therapist, my hairdresser, and my electrolysis session with no problems, of course. But one day I was quite early for my hairdressing apointment and there was NOTHING to do, so I decided to go across the street and get a bagel. Problem was, I was dressed!

"OK", I said to myself, "If you want to dress this way, you had better get used to people's reaction to you".

So I screwed up my courage and went into the bagel store, thinking I would give everybody something to talk about for the rest of the day. NO ONE PAYED ANY ATTENTION TO ME! I bought my bagel and left feeling almost disapointed. My therapist laughed at me later for feeling disapointed.

It turns out that most people have far to much on their minds to care what you look like or what you are wearing. That's why groups of teenagers are likely to notice you. They have empty minds and nothing to do.

Stepanie, I love what you said about teenagers, I have 4 of them at home and must say its true for all of them at some time or another, particularly when they are gathered in groups.

Christina, I've noticed that sitting with legs crossed as mentioned, is not necessarily a strictly feminine mannerism. More and more men, though still a very limited minority, assume this pose in everyday situations. And while I see a few men filing their nails, I haven't seen any casually using lotion or a cuticle stick in public. I must admit, were I to see such a sight, I would be surreptitiously watching this man, to determine if I could see anything that might indicate he was a cd/tg.

A TS friend of mine got the third degree from the driver of a city bus one day for doing her nails. Apparently the guy had Sienfeld-like cleanliness concerns, and, being responsible for cleaning the bus, lit into her about how thoughtless and inconsiderate it was of her to drop fingernail particles on the floor of the bus. That seems a bit over the top to me, but I would have to agree that any sort of grooming oneself in public is somewhat frowned upon by many. Sonia

Try doing that on an aeroplane and you'll get arrested for having an offensive weapon in your hands. You'll get noticed alright, quicksmart! LOL. Hugs Jazzmine.

I have noticed this about a lot of the more modern teens. hahahahahaha

Talk about "over the top." The airline industry has really gone way up there. For that matter, so has the government and that is NOT a good thing.
