Had a fun experience Saturday. I had booked a room at the Marriott to have a place to get ready for the RCC party that evening. I checked in around 3 PM and I was expecting another TGirl to come by and use my room to get ready for the party also. Not to let an opportunity like this to go to waste ( I can't dress at home) I quickly put on some light makeup and a casual outfit and headed out to explore. Actually, I was looking for the place where the party was going be. ( It was practically next door to the hotel) and a place where I could get some wine.

I drove up and down a short distance and could not find a liquor store but I did notice this beauty salon in a little strip mall, so I drove up, went in, and asked if I was too late for a manicure and polish. The proprietor (a He) said no and and called out this very sweet girl called "Assan". She took me to the manicure table and showed me maybe 100 nail polish colors to choose from. I told her that I was going to a Halloween party and would be wearing a deep purple dress and did not want anything that would clash with that.

It turned out that she was from Iraq. I noticed that she was wearing a necklace with a cross which I commented on and she told me that she was Christian. I don't know if she was married to an American G.I. or not and I did not want to pry. All I know is she was the sweetest young girl and we chatted as she did my nails. She commented on how nice my natural nails were. I had been letting them grow and was buffing them and using nail hardener.

She applied the nail polish and when the nails had dried she even did some artwork on the ring finer nails and added glitter. In the meantime there were two black ladies in the chairs nearby who were having their hair shampooed in preparation to get styled. Now I know that I can pass until I open my big mouth, but I didn't care cause I was on a roll ( more like a pink fog) and simply enjoying this female experience. As I got up to leave, I was putting on my raincoat ( it was pouring out) and she had this grin on her face, so I looked directly at her and with a big smile said, "Honey, at my age I think I can dress anyway I want too". Well they both cracked up and one of them spoke out and said, " I love your boots" I was so happy to tell them that I had bought them at Target's and they only cost $29.00, and we chatted like a bunch of girls do at a beauty salon.

On the way out though the most embarassing thing happened, I was at the counter to pay the young lady for my nails, I rummaged through my purse, looking for my wallet. It wasn't in my purse. I had forgotten to put it in my purse when I left the hotel which was only like 2 minutes away. So what to do. I had 2 entry cards so I gave her one and told her I was registered at the Marriott ,Room 145 and I could be right back.

By this time, it is really raining very hard. One young lady escorted me to my car with an umbrella and I hightailed it back to the hotel got my wallet and hurried back to pay her. She was so sweet and gracious that I will go back there next time I go to a party at RCC because they also do makeup and massages etc.
