Well, I remember the first time I dressed up AS a girl.. because I was a serious tomboy... All my friends were guys, who always wanted me to call my girlfriends to come over so they would have someone to "screw" for lack of a better term. I of course was a huge prude and thought sex was GROSSSSSS! LOL (All my friends were guys and we were more like a family since we were inseparable and to this day we are buddies and the thought of doing the dirty with them is gross... )

Anyway, believe it or not, I was a Job's Daughter. LOL Yes me! Anyway for my initiation I had to wear a formal gown.. I remember thinking I looked SO stupid! But I see pictures now and I looked amazing!! I was so pretty and skinny~! LOL (I thought I was so fat) And I didn't have a wig done, or nails, or any of the expensive stuff... I do remember that back then my dress was $200.00 and that was in the 80's and holy crap that was a LOT of money...I also remember my boobs falling out of the top and I was really uncomfortable with that so my friends mom sewed some lace in the top because I couldn't stand that someone could see that I was a girl.. I always wore big baggy shirts so I would blend in with the guys.

So yeah, I remember that day well.. going to initiation because my dad told me I had to ride a greased pig and I couldn't figure out why I needed to dress up for that.

I lasted about ... 6 months in Jobs Daughters.. couldn't get through the "women are made to service men" type of stuff and I wanted to stop dressing up.

So there, my first time en femme from a GG! LMAO!!

:hugs: and 's,
Kris

Wow, so your shrink visit cost you an extra $175? Was it worth it? You say you couldn't wait to get out of those heels. But remember you paid $60 for them. Was that worth it?

I have a suggestion. Try dressing in a little more realistic manner. Most girls don't need to spend $175 every time they go out and neither should you. Practice your own makeup. Get a good wig you don't need to style. Buy a nice pair of jeans and some flats. Just look around and see what all the other women around you are wearing. I think perhaps the girls in that salon saw you comming.

Empower yourself, hon. Not only is it cheaper, it's also a lot more fun.

Lovies,
Stephenie

BTW, hon, from looking at your avatar, you are not only very pretty, you are eminately passable. Get out there!

I loved your story. Sounds like a wonderful experience.

My first time out, was a night mare. I was dressed like a little ****, and got the looks like a little **** stares, haha. Never again. I learned my lesson. I now dress just like any other woman. I just studied different women where ever I was and watched what they were wearing. Then I just fit right in.

Now I go places without any trouble. I just need to work on my voice, that is always a hard one to tackle.

Well my FIRST time outside as a girl was Halloween when i was around 9 or 10. It took me weeks to finagle things so that my sister thought it was HER idea! lol
The first time I did it as an adult with the clear desire to have everyone really consider me a female was around 1995 when I met two online friends at a local bar called 'Bout Time. One had been out a lot and was very confident, and the other had never been out.
It was a wonderful night that I still look back on very fondly.

The first time I dressed was for my shrink, she thought that it would help me, she was so right. Her office was in a little used annex of the hospital and I could dress in a near by washroom, have my appointment and change after. It was an awesome period of time, I opened up so much.

I guess I'm kinda different MJ. (OH BOY IS THAT EVER AN UNDERSTATEMENT !) I always wanted to be a girl. I would see one, and just be so envious of her.
Yeah clothes, but just the way they talked and acted just made me so jealous.

A month ago I was in a resort town in Michigan. I had just arrived and had dressed on the road. I was having trouble with my wig, keeping the hair out of my eyes. I was desperate and so I stopped at the first salon. And walked right in. The stylist Darleen, gave me a big hello. And stopped with a customer, long enough to do a quick trim, on the front. She was really nice to me, and I tipped her for taking the time to help me. She told me to come back, said she could make the rest of the wig look better I got busy and didn't. Sorry I didn't because I haven't had any hair problems since.

So far I have had little hesitation going out dressed. But after being in law enforcement, there's little that scares me.
OK. I'll admit to having a bad hair day unnerves me a bit. LoL

Well MJ, my first time dressed was just out driving around in the car. I had the mistaken impression (like many do) that just because I was trying to portray a woman, I had to look like a million bucks every time I got dressed. After coming back down to Earth a bit, I realized that while gals want to look nice, they can dress down for comfort and still be stylish, so by the time I attended my first TG group support meeting, I was wearing a nice black pantsuit and ankle boots and didn't overdo the hair or makeup This kind of developed into my signature style, which shows a little class but is practical and comfortable at the same time.

. . . that if you were as passable as your current avatar you DID get in. Girls could always get away with that because club owners want girls there to attract the guys.

It depends on what you mean. My very first experiment with dressing was at the age of five when I put on my sisters nightgown one Sunday morning when I was supposed to be watching my brothers while my dad slept and my mother and sister were at church. Several times through childhood I pretended to be a girl (and wanted to) without actually dressing. I started dressing regularly, mostly bit's and pieces here and there, as soon as I was old enough to be left alone, say around eleven or twelve. The first time I was ever, one hundred percent fully dressed, from head to toe--make-up, shoes, hair, bra, everything--I was nineteen. That was about the same time I realized I was going to be a cross-dresser for my entire life and adopted "Caroline Anderson" as my name. I'm a life-long girl for as long as I can remember.

why would your shrink WANT to see you dressed up? Not all us CDers have a "need" to be seen in public---indeed, SOME of us CD only in private as just something we do from time to time to "escape" our normal persona and relax.

Now if you WANTED to go out, but were afraid, that's a different matter, especially if you mentioned it previously to the shrink.

The fact that you were totaly unprepaired to go out suggests to me that you are a type of CD that does not have the "publicity" need or urge. This also suggests that the Psychologist may not be aware of all the common motivations of CDing, or has a political , personal bias or adgenda. Unless the guy is a specialist, he/she may have only a limited textbook awareness of only certian types of CDing, most often the quasi- TS, or "fem-sider" motives and not be aware of the other types, eg.-- escapists, S/M, Taboo trippers and thrill seekers.

If I dress up for my shrink, does that mean I can claim mascara as a medical expense?

Imagine trying to get the insurance to cover THAT one. :joke:

Anyways, the first time I dressed completely en femme was when I was like 22. Yes late I know.

It was an OK beginner ensemble. hair teased, makeup, black tee, black skirt, a gold belt from some thrift store, hose and some low heels. It might have worked better with a nicer blouse... I went to a gay/drag club which I had been in drab. When I walked in, looking as pretty as I knew how, I got all this attention I had never received before. It was like everyone turned to look. I felt like the most beautiful thing on earth.

One thing about makeup - since I knew nothing at the time, I had to talk to a saleswoman at the Elizabeth Arden counter. She helped me w/makeup, but to buy everything I needed was too expensive. I guess we all made expensive mistakes at first.
