A couple of weeks ago I posted about a friend letting me pay back a bet by going out dressed. Well, yesterday was the day. WHAT A DAY ! ! !
I didn't make my goal in the number of stores I wanted to visit because I had too much fun where I went. There were three major highlights.
Manicure-As I normally do I had fake nails painted by a favorite nail tech. However, I also had agreed to visit another salon. That tech told me she could do even better so she gave me a set of acrylics for the same price as a buff and polish. Now I'll nver put on fake nails again. It's acrylics or better. I love them. The only problem is that they are normally pretty expensive for one days use.
Make up-After going to a salon I'd been to before for a makeup application I went to MAC in Macys to purchase some lipstick I like. Jamie asked if she could do my eyes again. OMG did she do a good job. She showed me what she was doing and explained how she was making my blue eyes pop out. It really did look much better with her help. No more salons for me. It's MAC every time.
Dress Barn- They were so helpful and friendly. I tried on 3 separate outfits, two with suggestions from their staff and one I liked. One of the outfits they chose for me was a black sweater dress, with white with pattern silk sleeves and collar. I loved it so much I bought it for myself. I'm not sure if it was the three mirrors I looked at myself in but the dress even made me look slimmer.
The rest of the day was great too, including trying on shoes for almost an hour at DSW, buying items at ULTA and getting lunch at Wendys. But, not as much fun as the rest of the day. Wow, it was fabulous. I hope the rest of you either have experienced something like this or will soon.

Diane,

Where do you get the audacity to do all of these incredible things? My jaw is dropping...

Is there a smily for that? :yrtw:

Sounds like fun. Can you add more the bet and how the other person knows it has been paid? You peaked my curiousity with your story.

What would you have done if you had lost the bet?

That's easy, .... go to www dot AUDACITY dot com , and download about 5 gigs worth.

I done some of these same things. Many yewars ago when buying a few undies in a discount store the cashier made a big deal out of it. Fortunately I stood my ground and completed the transaction. Later in the parking lot, almost in tears, I VOWED to myself that I would NEVER again be "bullied" in such a manner, and I haven't.

If I won a bet and the loser looked like he was enjoying himself, then I would demand another payoff. :p

It sounds like a great day, Diane.

I had lost a bet on the World Series and a couple Bronco games. My friend told me that she would lower the bet if I spent the day dressed and did various things to offset $'s owed. I took the $250 bet down to $50 and had a ball. I got points for being out all day, having a makeover, nails done, purchasing cosmetics, trying on clothes and buying some, trying on shoes, plus having lunch, buying gas, buying Starbucks, etc. I had to have most of these things verified. I even have some photos but they are from film, not digital or I'd post them. Now do you see why it was a great day?>

Most of the things I did, I had the sales clerk initial the receipt. For the makeover and acrylic nails I had my picture taken. Wish I had a digital so I could post. The pic in the sweater dress would be a great avitar.

THIS IS THE ULTIMATE DREAM!!! oh yeah!!! and yes I do fantisize about such a day.. to make a wager and lose, darn I have to dress in public... the humiliation would be short lived, I think... after the first hour it couldn't get any worse, so just live it the way you see or saw or dreamed it.. I think I would go to the different stores in a mall.. walk in the mall.. go to shoe stores and try shoes on... be free... wow...

I propose we set up a standing bet with the loser having to be dressed for the day. It doesn't matter what the bet is, just something we can point to and say you're dressing because you lost.

In essance, you were getting paid to do that. What a cool way to go out dressed and get a lot of attention being female. I should be so lucky.
