I have been having conversations with my therapist, and his opinion about the effects of HRT on different things seems to be, "All bets are off." That is, you can't say what will happen, what will not...

The other thread I started, HRT and Bust development," was so really useful to me, that I am hoping that I can get more information! First of all, I found it useful in ways that I never imagined...like the number of us ladies that exceed 50! I loved that bit... It gave me so much confidence! As for you ladies that are younger, God bless you for being born in a time that allows you to do what we would have done if society was ready for us. What I like is that many, many of us are going for it, well into middle age.

NOW for the next question, if you would help me again?

What has HRT done for you regarding hip and bummy development? I have heard from one pre op lady that nothing happens to hips, but I have also heard contradicting information too. What about you? Can you note a difference in your hips? Is it fat, or changes to the hip bone? How about your bumm? Can you now fill up a pair of women's jeans?

Do you know your measurements before and now? How long did it take to get there? What is your dose?

I think that the nice thing about hips and butts are that you can disguise this fairly easily while transitioning, or if you plan to stay stealth... true, or not?

Thanks everyone! I can hardly breathe, waiting to start hormones! Doc says that my case will go up before a board in about a month...Say a prayer for me?

Bless you all, my sisters!

Cara

Hi Cara: At are age the bones will not change. All that happens is the fat is re-arranged. In my case so far my hip measuremnets have increaseabout a inch. However my thighs have increased by two inches, and my buns are getting bigger. Can not wear my boy jeansanymore. Went from 34in waist mens lees to ladies 14P lees. The one sure thing for sure is that my jeans do not sagin the butt- anymore.Hope this info helps. Have a great day. Sincerely Charla

As was said above, your bones will not change. We do have one member who feels she got wider hip bones, but this is definately not typical. So any growth to hips and thighs and butt will be fat redistribution. For that you need some fat.

I have no fat to redistribute and so I have had NO increase in these areas. My endo claims that I will not ever see any increase unless I gain weight, something I am unwilling to do. I wear a size 8 jean and wish I wore smaller.

Now, I have no trouble with the size 8 in a stretch jean, but different makers use different sizing. I wear some 10s also.

So how much can you expect? Your source is correct, there's no way of telling. You won't know until you do it. Everyone is different. The more fat you have to move around, the more (probably) you will see move around. More than that, who knows?

You can always buy hips and butt, that's another thing I am unwilling to do.

Lovies,
Stephenie

As you know, I'm one of those skinny girls with no butt to start with. I took measurements back in March of 2007, just after starting on estrogen, having already been on spiro for a couple months. Anyway, the measurements I took yesterday show that I've lost almost an inch on my waist, due to loosing some of my "middle age spread", but my hips have not changed at all. I have also lost about an inch on my band size, but my bust measurement remains unchanged. I have breast shape, but not size. Like Stephenie, I wear a size 8 stretch jean, I like Ryders for their fit. I don't fill the seat of the pants though. At least not yet. I seem to have picked up about 2 pounds in the last couple weeks, I hope it goes to the right places!

LOL, I liked the popsicle stick analogy.

Unfortunately, I am shaped more like the popsicle and the stick. I soooo wish I had smaller shoulders and upper chest. Oh well.

Amber, shop around for other brands. I fill the seat of my Fashion Bug jeans nicely, and I am sure I don't have more caboose than you.

Yea, no matter what I say about the merits of inner beauty, and not becoming a a victim of Madison Avenue fashion ads, I am allied with all the GG's that harbor the secret wish that they looked a little more like a VS model than they do . . . .

As for Cara's Q. E makes me gain some weight 2-3 lbs. I saw it in the breasts mostly, and the rest not in any one place I noted.

hugs,
'lissa

I agree. Good for you! A good reason to transition is so that you don't have to wear pads anymore!

If what you have before is any measure of what material you have to make curves, I am going to be vol-uptious!

Couple of things come to mind?

Do you think that your hips are more pronounced, now that your waist is smaller?

So if your butt didn't bigger, where did your waist move to?:heehee:

Do you know what your ladies jean size was, before you started hormones?

Thanx!

Hi Cara,
My hips probably are a bit more pronounced now with a smaller waist, but I don't know if the waist will stay that way, you know how that is. My waist got smaller because I lost some of my belly fat when I lost several pounds, the only fat on my body, besides the fat inside my skull, that is!:heehee:
As for pants, I've had this pair of Ryders jeans sense before I started on HRT, so I must have been a size 8 then also.
As I said before, my body measurements, for the most part, have not changed sense before I started HRT. Only my waist and bra band measurements have changed, and those not much, due to weight loss.
Stephenie, are those Fashion Bug jeans a junior size or a misses size? There's a local Fashion Bug that I can check out.

Hi, if I may chime in. The amazing Brazilian TSs who have great hips, "benefit" from dangerous injections of silicone. Imagine how sad it is to need to basically poison your body in order to earn money as sex objects, etc. I find that the absense of testosterone has affected both my strength and also has slowed my metabolism. I am eating far less sweets and carbs now (my wife is trying to get her cholesterol down--hormonally triggered I believe and can't eat carbs-a variation of Atkins) to be careful not to put weight on. I believe I have a little more tummy and I think this may be also related to no testostone.
I am afraid that genetics won't give a TG dramatic changes other than breast development--that is truly remarkable what can happen to 60 year old males with dormant mammary glands suddenly blossoming--like those seeds from thousands of years ago that germinate, etc. best to you all, helen
