I am a medical professional. I have no trouble. I have found very little bigotry in my field.

There are quite a few avenues that you could explore that do not care about your CDing. All you have to do is think about what you see in your everyday life.....

These are a few that pop into my head.

Baker/cook
Seamstress
Bar tender (in the right bar that is!)
Etc.....

Most of the stuff not dealing with the public directly and not having a very large staff usually work well. Unless you pass well then just about anything is open to you.
You can also think about your own business. If you are the boss it doesn't really matter what you wear, like me! :D

Sometimes you just have to step back a little and look at it from a different perspective.

My SO works in the careing sector, applied for a job as Nigella last January and started work in April.

She's posted about it here ( http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56849)

Yeah, become self-employed. :battingeyelashes:

I am and it's perfect! Tank top and underwear only in the summer, a bit more in the winter.

Yes if you don't mind barwork it's really just a case of finding the right type of bar where they don't care if you dress as a girl for work. I'm guessing there must be an awful lot of the right type of bars in New York.

I gotta agree. I get to hang out all day in a cami and mini skirt with high heels. Does wonders for my work ethic.

a lot would depend on your job training and/or skills. i don't think the contsruction or mechanical trades would be a good fit because there is still a macho mentality associated with them. as others have said, self meployment might be a viable option. i once knew an insurance agent who worked out of the home and dressed en femme 24/7 and had a successful business. Also it depends on where you live...in California, crossdressers are absolutely protected against employment discrimination, click here to read a funny story about it called Skirting the Law (http://snurl.com/skirting)

I went from being an office pogue to a hairdresser in just a little over a year. Then I worked in salons until I had the techniques pretty well nailed. I do wig seminars all the time for cancer survivors and others and one day I was shopping (dressed) in my local Salleys beauty supply when the manager asked me if I knew of a cool salon where she thought I might fit in. I investigated, now rent a booth, took permannent cosmetic training and spend my day working on women dressed to my hearts content. I do hair and permanent cosmetics and seem to get asked for beauty advice all the time.

My byline is something like "My clients never know what I will look like until they come in for their appointment". I also do the Police Chief's hair (male) the Mayor (female, and a bunch of cops. It must be cool! I got stopped late one night by a State Patrol Officer and when he came up to the vehicle, he stopped dropped back a bit and said oh, its you. I had cut his hair that day....

Hmmm.... to answer the question, "no" but that would be a fantasy. Really though, I remember in Toronto, there was a cabaret called La Cage (after the movie) which had female impersonation show and the staff had to be too!

That would have been a fun job!

Self employment is not a guarantee you can be dressed enfemme. You still have to deal with customers or clients that may not accept your femme side. If you are never seen by anyone, it could work. Also workable are businesses that deal with people that are more accepting than the general population.

The company where I used to work hired some one who applied while dressed in drab, and came to work dressed. WOW what a scene. The poor person had to resign, the management acted like he/she was a terrorist.

I was lucky enuff to get full time work as a woman, and I'm sure that being completely passable helps. Also I was the only one who really was qualified that applied, and my boss is a very open minded woman. She knows how much I appreciate her and the job.

If you don't mind me asking, what profession? I thought about getting in the medical profession (ER Nurse), and thought about being able to get the job and could go in as Rebeca or in Drab.

I have to say I'm lucky enough with my career as a professional driver, being transgender isn't really a big issue as I've learned since i got into this career. As long as you get the frieght there on time, most companies don't care how you dress, heck you could dress up like a horse or something and they still wouldn't care as long as your on time. thats how i finally was able to start going out en femme. although with my last company i wasn't really confortable going into the terminal dressed, but that was also b/c the owner was a really up tight christain man who would fire drivers for going to the cosino while they were laidover or stuck in the terminal for the weekend. i just always figure that he'd have a field day if he found out that he had a quate "fairie Princess" representing his company, he probably hang me or burn me at the stake or something. which is why i had to find a new company.
