View Full Version : Help Me Find A New Name

Heya Sisters,

When I first came on here, last year, I was a shy closet dresser with a low self esteem and not really any strong opinions one way or another. Actually have felt a surge of confidence from being in your presence, no longer feeling alone or at odds with myself, and in some ways feel that I may have reached a transgendered nirvana point, like one of our illustrious members, CDKathy.

Someone PM'd me saying that despite my name, I didn't seem shy. So maybe I've reached a turning point in personal growth, and have been playing with the idea of having a fellow sister christen me with a new name. Any ideas? Seems like the "shy" part may no longer apply in my name, and seems like every other CD is named Charlotte, so I'd love to have a name that would stand out. Been toying with some names, but do you ladies have any suggestions?

Okay I did take a look at what I could generate on the net, uhm you'd be surprised what I came back with but I'm not sure you want to know :p Anyhow I came up with one that sounded like you(to me that is) "Marion". The name Shauna(Shawna?) came into my mind as well but it didn't quite fit. Not much help am I  ;)

Bold Belinda?
Confident Connie?
Self-Assured Sally?
Out-There Olga?
Courageous Carla?
Fearless Freda?
Daring Darla?

sorry, need to stop now, before I pull out the dictionary

Hi Charlotte

Why not get rid of the char and become sexy Lottie :)

Love and hugs Emily

You can always do what I did, go to site with baby names, most sites have hundreds of names for male and female. Only you can decide what's right for you, the name could be simbolic or something personal. After a week of putting names together, I came up with Katie Ashe, See Ashe works well as middle or last name, as I didn't want to have a traditional name of any kind.

Now that I taken up your time, Best Wishes ;)

oooo a contest!!! Yay! lol

Seriously, though I am fond of the name Clementine, meaning merciful. Saw it in the movie "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" a while back.

At least I have more control over a name than most infants (I'm sure whoever received the name Bertha or Gertrude must have shook her head in dismay [no offense to anyone that knows a Bertha or Gertrude]). Keep'em coming ladies, I have a feeling we're close, and great suggestions so far :)

How about Honey because you are so sweet.

ok one more,Morgana.

Shy Charlotte

Hmm, Morgana.... I'll have to play with that one for a bit (Love the new pic Pris, although being a shooter myself I miss the 1911 and the HK 91).

Honey is nice, and I have no qualms about going with a porn name, but I might get laughed out of the goth/industrial clubs I hit up. Besides, honestly I'm not all that sweet, so I'd just be satirizing the name.

Love the suggestions Sharon, although I'm looking for something a bit off the beaten track... (Plus I'd sound like a toy from The Simpsons)

Interesting that you should bring up Marion and Shawna, Tristen. Knew a Marion at school, and he always would give me a hard time, and knew a Shawna, but she wasn't too pleasant a person to begin with. Love the names, but I think I carry too much emotional baggage.

Hmm, Char or Lottie.... Has a nice ring too... Clementine.... it's different...

My mother's middle name was Tatianna, which I like alot but don't want to get too Oedipal, and being a Lovecraft fan was playing with Azenath, but don't want to sound like I'm trying too hard. Immanuelle? (in honor of the philosopher Kant)?

You ladies are definitely getting the mental juices flowing. Maybe even Iris? In honor of the IRS, since I seem to write in circles and spend alot of time with redundancies?

Things that make you go... HMMMM

Love all you ladies (in a strictly platonic, non-biblical sense), and thanks... Hmm, maybe I should make this a contest. Let me think of a suitable prize

Charlotte,

Well, I've always loved the name Kayla Renee personally, but I don't know if that would work for you. Monica or Monique might be good as well; they make me think sexy and confident.

Of course, with your avatar, a choice like WhipMistress could be the way to go. ;)

Angelica Simone might be a little over the top. If you want to go for fantastical you could do Scarlet Raven.

Hugs,

Brandy Marie Devereaux

Did some research.... Taking into account your goth/industrial flavor (my favorite)...

Annabel Lee - by Edgar Allan Poe Read the poem here (http://wikisource.org/wiki/Annabel_Lee)

Or Berenice, also by Poe. Story here (http://eserver.org/books/poe/berenice.html).

The first vampire story written by a woman was "The Skeleton Count", by Elizabeth Grey, in 1828

Sheridan Le Fanu's "Carmilla" (1872) is the first vampire tale to sustain a consistent atmosphere of menace... Carmilla proved to the World that a woman can assume her sexuality, if only after death.

I like Carmilla. Just me, though :)

How about something that sounds reasonably modern and somewhat realistic... Like "Katrina".

Shy Charlotte
04-18-2005, 08:10 PM
Hmm, Lenore.... Carmilla.... Katrina... hmmm...
Loved the Charlotte name miself, but it was bestowed upon me by my ex, and kinda want to start fresh

Been playing with a name as of recently, tell me what you ladies think...

Miriam Pain

(Named after an Andi Sexgang song, although not sure if anyone's heard of him).

Doh, can't think right now, gotta rest up for a graveyard shift. Love the new avatar btw Amelie. Then again, love any excuse to see more of yer hot mug. You should start up your own photo thread.

Amelie
04-18-2005, 08:12 PM
Sorry, it's not my mug, it's Beki Bondage from Vice Squad, punk band.

I think you should go with the name Window Pain.

Shy Charlotte
04-18-2005, 08:19 PM
Was about to ask if there you were getting your wigs from, since this one looked pretty real. Ah well.

hmmm, Window Pain..... possibly a winner? Had a fellow student named Kao Dung (pronounced Cow Dung) once, so it could be worse I suppose.

NFW! Not another one! I found one generator you might try Charlotte and if you do a goth name generator search you'll get loads from google to play with. Some are cool but be sure you enter a female name. My drab name came back with Lazurus Ravyn. Well it sounded cool.

Tabitha or Sandy or Becky? You can also look at some middle names like "Tammy Lee" or how about Amanda J Lynn??? Simona J Fox?

Just some suggestions, but Charlotte IS a nice name too!

I like Charlotte too. You can't always wipe out your past you have to use it, to learn from your mistakes. I your'e feeling more confident it could be Charlotte the Harlot instead of Shy Charlotte

Looks like you need a goth name. I also liked the suggestions of Lenore.

Shanna GG

Ooh Names....
I am always a fan of strong female names. Charlotte, for a CD, is pretty. It can also be fitting meaning wise...little and womanly.

But as I said I like strong names. Maeve, Brinn, Sondra or like I named my Daughter, Deva (hindi pronounce it Day-va).

You have had a lot of great suggestions. Good luck in picking.

Since you are on a quest for a new name...how about...Questra?

Shy Charlotte
04-20-2005, 02:47 AM
Well, actually my SO helped me pick one. Thanks again for all the assistance sisters! All the choices were excellent, and most were names I never would have thought of. Even hit up the Gothic Name generator to find something even more interesting names.

Eventually I enlisted the assistance of my SO to figure out what to go with (despite much of my argument toward the contrary, Window Pain was shot down fairly quick by her.... sorry Amelie). Eventually she chose Ophelia (she being a Shakespeare fan and all), and actually I kinda like the ring of it.

Hehe, so I suppose I owe Lucy Jayne a great big thank you (and thanks to all of you as well). Laws of probability were stacked in Lucy's favor anyways.

Ophelia is a beautiful name, it's a shame the connections we make to it are so negitive. It prevents so many wonderfully little girls from having such a delicate and lovely name.
