As long as I have been married (26 years) I always have had to wait for my wife to get ready. It aways seemed that she was just standing there doing nothing and looking at the closet. I have never understood this. Then last year I began dressing in earnest. The more outfits I buy the more thinking it takes to put them together and have them make me pretty! I now am the one standing in front of the closet. Lets see, this and that or would the little jacket go better with that? The world is a funny place!

I know exactly what you mean

Its a shocking realisation when you find out the time is not being wasted

I would bet you wife has to wait on you now

Another thing I noticed is that I look in the mirror every chance I get while dressed. When in drab, I only check myself out once or twice a day if that. I sometimes come home with a spot of grease on my forehead and my wife says "Don't you ever look in the mirror."

I think that's been one of the benefits of crossdressing in my relationship with my wife -- my levels of understanding have increased! As a Christian, I am called to live with my wife in an "understanding way." Similarly, I have literally taken to heart the urging to walk a mile in someone else's shoes! Anyway, I have realized a lot of things that are hard or different about being a girl that I would never have understood had I not taken to exploring my feminine side as I do.

Here is at least a partial list of things I understand better (serious and otherwise):

1. I know why it takes longer to get ready
2. I know why it's important to have matching underwear
3. I know why its important to walk more slowly when she's wearing heels
4. I know why so many pairs of shoes are required
5. I know why it's important for shoes to match purse
6. I know why jewelry is such a draw
7. I know why romance is important -- money is not "wasted" on things that die or fade like flowers -- rather, it is an investment in the relationship and a demonstration that my love for her need not be "practical."
8. I know why chick flicks can make you cry
9. I know why having girlfriends is important
10. I know why every crisis need not be "solved" by me -- there is a time for listening, empathizing or sympathizing - the advisory solutions can wait until the "next" conversation.
11. I know why physical security is such a big deal
12. I know why self body image is so important

I'm sure there are mny more I haven't thought of, but these came to my head off the top.

I know what you're saying Charlie. When I dress in drab, I'll grab a pair of jeans and a flannel shirt, and put them on over my tightie whities,(matching underwear, shorts and tee shirt). But when I dress as Jill I have to color match undies and outfits, decide on stockings, pantyhose, kneehighs, or socks, pick just the right accessories, match my shoes to the outfit, apply makeup and lipstick, and make sure my hair is brushed. If I have forgotten anything,,,Shame On Me:naughty What's a girl to do? Luv and:hugs: Jill

It takes me three seconds to put on a pair of socks.
Five seconds for a T shirt
Five minutes to shave
Fifteen seconds to comb my hair
Compare that to the time it takes for:
Pantyhose
A bra
Makeup
Styling a wig.

Now I know too. I don't go out, but I do spend more time deciding what to wear. Wife now gives me that little smug, knowing look. Maybe one day she'll take me out on the town, then it'll really take time for me to dress.

Sherry and Maid,

Thank you! I appreciate the compliments but not sure I deserve them. I think I'M the blessed one to have my wife! She is an absolute gem. What a tremendous gift from God she is.

As for an explanation of the "whys," I'm afraid that would have to be a MUCH longer post!

God bless,
Steph

I can also relate to understanding a little better what women do for their appearance. Why it takes longer to get ready and why some things that don't seem practicle become important.

I do wonder though if the same things that interest me (looking and feeling "pretty") are the same things that motivates genetic women?

I never complain anymore. And packing for trips is so much fun. These panties match this shirt. I lay out all my outfits like she does...it's all part of the fun!
