Follow the advice found in the thread indicated above. Make sure to stay to areas that are "prone" to accepting the alternative lifestyles until you are secure enough in yourself before venturing to other areas.

I think I mentioned it in the thread above, but I really can't stress enough how extremely valuable I found Gavin de Becker's The Gift of Fear. It's all about being aware of your surroundings and trusting your intuition. Our "unconscious" minds are very good at picking up danger signals, that unfortunately our "logical, conscious" minds easily dismiss.

If you have a bad feeling about a situation, leave! Right away! Don't stay there trying to figure out why you had a bad feeling; if and when you figure it out, it could be too late.

Hopefully it's OK to include the Amazon.com link to the paperback version of the book: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0440508835/ref=amb_link_6271342_1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=auto-sparkle&pf_rd_r=16ZHK2J29JPQ9NGP2XKQ&pf_rd_t=301&pf_rd_p=361234701&pf_rd_i=the%20gift%20of%20fear

The Gift of Fear is a great book. Just be aware of things around you.
