Two incidents of interest this past week:

(1) Coworker (unaware of Em) asked me to go look at a piece of furniture with him and give my opinion, and he would buy lunch after. Since I need all the friends at work I can get I agreed. Well, when we pulled up at this business my heart sank. A sister works there during the day, and she and I have run around together, always in dress...never seen each other in drab. I said a quick prayer that Dee would be cool WHEN she recognized me and followed my coworker in. Who comes by to help us but...DEE....OMGosh. I kept waiting for that little sign that she recognized me, I sure as shooting recognized her immediately. It never came.So...............

When I got back to my computer I left DEE a question....."So how much did you make on that table sale. She replied "How did you know about that?". "Because I was the person with the buyer."

"NO WAY."

"YES WAY."

Bottom line is she truly did not know it was me, but better yet, she thought we were a gay couple and I was the "female" because I was "so feminine in manner". WOO HOO !!!!

(2) I attended a local TG meeting Saturday night, my first time with the group. Before the meeting started one sister came over and asked me which of the gurls was my husband !!!! She truly mistook me for one of the spouses (no cracks about what her seeing eye dog thought).

I think I have made some progress recently in my journey.

Wow! Way to go, Emily. When the ladies at work ask you to help them clothes shop, then you will truly have arrived.

Bottom line is she truly did not know it was me,

This should reassure the sisters who are affraid to put a picture of them on their avatar...

Even people who could have reasons to recognize us can't really do so.

I've had the same experience several times and in all cases the friends didn't recognise me... And it happened in both situations. Here are two anecdotes:

1/ A friend who knew me in person, in drab mode only, but knew that I was a CD, didn't recognise me when she met me "en femme" for the first time... It was only when I spoke that she recognised me.

2/ I went to the General Assembly of our CD association. I arrived from the airplane in drab mode. Some sisters I knew from their pictures were already dressed. I called them by their female names. They answered "Hello, excuse me who are you?" When I said I was Eugenie, they finally recognised me...

Which shows how difficult it is to recognise some one who is x-dressing if one hasn't met that person in the two sides if her/his personality before.

Er-yeah, I know the feeling Em. Last year for CD weekend at the club, I had talked to two CD's on Friday night as I went as Sal. The following night of the same CD weekend, I was feeling kind of lazy and didn't get dressed, so went over as Rich and told them who I was and they didn't see any resemblance and wouldn't believe me. They thought I was trying to pick them up.Go figure.:heehee:
