I was recently turned down for life insurance. The reason, I am openly transgender. I have posted more details on my personal web page at http://members.shaw.ca/terribreeze/LifeInsurance.htm
Please take a look, and if you see this as unfair and discriminatory let them know. I am not doing this for my own benefit, but as those that went before us have done, want to help in anyway to advance the cause of transgenderism for the future.
thanks,
Terri

I am sorry for you situation. It may be a descimination of some type but it may be related more to the known major surgery in you future than due to the fact that you are TG. There are big issues at stake and I don't know if or how they have been resolved. Insurance companys are constantly looking to hedge their bets. If they can learn any information about potential health problems in your future they don't want to insure you. With all the gene research going on these days, it is possible (i think) to identify increased likelihood of certain major illnesses in your future. Of course the insurance co's would love this info. You have the right to keep this private - or do you? Those are some of the issues to be sorted out. In any event, I'd bet that the eventual surgery is their biggest concern and not your change of gender persay.
