Where the hell does this thread belong?

Well wherever this thread ends up boys, girls, gg's inbetweenies, cds etc etc.

Once you mastered the art of that 'look' you were looking for (assuming you did) I bet you haven't changed it for years.......and years.......go on admit it! Quick slap on, same old colours, same old lines.

There's GGs out there with eyemakeup they mastered at the age of 15 I bet.

There's FtM with that solid 1980s look......"Hair gel! That's the one for me!"

For my part....I know that if I apply the same colours I always use in the same order that I look......crap. But I know I can repeat it whenever I want.

You are right, usually when you find the right combination for yourself, you stick to it. This should be in the makeup section.

I have to admit that I have fallen victim to this, but lately I have just reached into my makeup box and grabbed a single color box and made up from that box.

I have 5 basic boxes, just in case I want to grab just one or want the color group available quickly. I have red, purple, green, misc. and brown each of which fills a small plastic tackle box tray that is held in one of thos soft-sided tackle box bags.

Sometimes I seem to grab the same one over and over but try to mix things up a bit. Besides, I apply makeup to clients and they like to see different looks so I change a few little things.

My wife, on the other hand, sticks to one color scheme until she runs out of that shadow or whatever and then tries seomthing similar to it. Not much varianve at all.

I agree it is easy to get stuck in a rut with the same look. I completely understand why there are so many makeover shows on tv ect. I have refined my look over the years. Loosing the wig was a huge change. Now with laser I can use much less foundation. I have picked up a few tips on lipsick. Recently I started using fake eyelashes.

Just yesterday I looked back at a photo from 5 years ago and cringed. I can't believe I went out looking like that. lol

I guess Im still searching for that "look" too LOL but I went from normally Blond Cindy to usually Red Cindy a few years ago.Im still looking tho,, trying different length hair styles and wig colors.
My taste in clothes hasnt changed a lot but I do change eye makeup to try and match what Im wearing.

I was blonde for a while, when I first started doing the "hair" thing. I liked it, but I had to admit that it didn't really fit my complexion. I went brunette several years ago, and I stayed with it. I got reasonably good with the makeup through trial and error, and now I do what Judge Julie accuses me of.....slapping on the same ol' thing most of the time.

I change it up a little, but I don't have five different kits of makeup for each color group I might be wearing. Nor do I have a whole lot of wigs, either. These things cost $$$ for good ones, and cheap ones look, well, cheap.

I'm pretty happy with the look I've come to right now. It'll change when I get a new wig, I think, but not a whole lot. I like my hair that length, and I like the color. I need bangs, because my forehead just screams to be covered up. And like Cindy (you rock, Cindy!), my taste in clothing is also pretty set. Since this is all a bit of fantasy for me anyway, why wear stuff I don't find very attractive?

So I'd have to say that my "look" changed to what it is now about four years ago. Prior to that, I was only experimenting.

Hi Julie,

Yep! .... you hit the nail on the head (again) :) I am guilty as charged! ... especially when it comes to make up!

It took me over a year and 6 different foundations before I found the one that works for me so I'm not changing that any time soon. I go through a set routine when Marla and I go out and invariably I tend to choose the same or similar neutral colors for my eyes (much to to woes of my wife) but I know what looks good, and what I like, plus what I've practiced and can get down to perfection every time on a tight schedule.

Yes, I'm a girl who's stuck in her ways when it comes to make up. Now clothes .... ah ... that's different! :D

I try to keep my eyes open to what comes in and out of fashion and change my look accordingly. Recently I've been experimenting with darker eye makeup, and (usually) correspondingly more natural lipstick. Clothing changes with the season (even here in Southern California, though it often is more winter look rather than real winter clothes). So my look is constantly evolving.

Blessings,
Rikki

Not sure really Julie. I do like to play around with it a lot. With my wigs and wardrode, there are an infinate number of combinations possible . Same with the makeup. Even so, I think I favor the current avatar and may settle into that for awhile.:)

This is something I simply DO NOT GET. When you posted this thread it reminded me of a girl on this board who posted a look from Dynasty or Dallas circa 1980!

Most GGs keep up with the times to some degree, so beside it being natural for me to like to have fun doing it, I think it's really not remotely passable if you've got hair and makeup looking like 99.9999% of the population hasn't for 30 years.

I'm a gg and I'll answer this. Until a year ago I had not changed my look for about 20 years. In the process of helping my DH do makeup, discovered it was fun to learn newer stuff and change the color on the eyes all the time now. I have changed foundations many times, and tried new products. Bre wanted to try the eye colors that go on wet and we have several colors of those. We have bought a make over book and tried stuff out of that. Try things we see on people on TV, it is really fun trying new things.
