Well, it's been a while since I've started a thread here so I thought you might be interested in my week.

Firstly....a big thumbs down to Dress Barn in Danbury,CT. Dressed as a male I visited for the very first time on monday and after all the good I've heard here about how wonderful the store is I was very dissappointed. They simply wouldn't let me try anything on. The SAs were very pleasant and helpful in picking some things out but when I asked to try them on I was declined, she said to try on at home and a return wouldn't be a problem.....I still bought the skirt suit though...It was too good to leave behind and actually was a perfect fit.

Tuesday I visited Target and bought 4 new pairs of shoes....they're like panties...irresistable and you can't have too many...:)

Today I was wearing that very suit from Dress Barn out to The Danbury Mall in CT....I looked and felt great and wasn't read once...just blended in.
I walked the entire mall and tried some things on in JC Pennys, Sears, and Macys but nothing really caught my eye.
While in Macys I visited the MAC counter and was greeted with "How may I help you M'am?"...I replied in my male voice "I'd like some foundation to cover my beard please"....she didn't bat an eyelid....
This was a very pretty, very young SA and she was fantastic...she said she didn't know I was a guy until I talked, but it didn't make any difference to the way she treated me....totally professional and very friendly.
She asked me to sit in the chair and applied some products...I bought the cover I liked best and she applied some complimentary foundation to make everything blend back in....
I asked about a makeover which she explained very well. As I left she said "call in anytime" and gave me her card....I will be calling.

I visited lots of Ladies rooms too...that never gets old...:)

Mostly I had a great time...but Dress Barn was a big dissappointment.

Julia.

Sorry to hear about you problems with Dress Barn. Here in Texas you will find the Dress Barns are very CD friendly. In fact one of the local Dress Barns even held an after hours shopping spree for my Tri-Ess chapter. I bet we spent over a $1K that evening. The Dress Barn told us later that they made more that evening than they did all week and wants us to hold another after hours shopping spree.

I also have found Dress Barn to be very unfriendly to CD's. I used to go to several DB's until one day I was told that an area manager said that they could no longer allow me to try on clothes. I had gone in occasionally in drab and more often in drag, and they had been very accomodating. But after that one time, I was told that I was no longer welcome.
I have had no such problems with Avenue, however, and recommend them highly. It helps to get to know the manager ahead of time. Tell her about the situation and ask if it is OK.
I have found them to be very friendly and helpful.

:confused2:Sorry to hear about your experience at Dress Barn in Danbury.

Last Monday and Tuesday I went to a Dress Barn and a Fashin Bug on Wednesday and both stores was treated fabusly. Surprised the H out of me. I went in my half M/F mode. Kammi, Bra and forms, tight misses jeans and all the rest was male. After I became comfortable at the Bress Barn on Monday I strutted my stuff with shoulders back. That was true for both stores. At the Fashin Bug the young SA keep glancing at my boobs. I finally told her they were mine.

I just wish women would talk to me instead of my boobs. :heehee:
