Yesterday was my birthday so I treated myself.

With the wife's help I shaved my legs. Wow do I love smooth legs. I never realized they would feel this good without hair!

Then we went shopping and checked at Claire's to see what it would cost to pierce my ears. It was less than $35 so I figured what the heck. She and I left the store and shopped a while at JC Penny's and then talked some and finally decided to just go ahead and do it.

It seems that it was such an attraction on Saturday night at the mall that some teenage girls had to go get their guy friends to see the old guy getting his ears pierced.

While the girls were incredulous that some dude was getting his ears pierced their guy friends sorta shrugged like, what's the big deal.

Afterward we went out to eat and my new piercings got quite a few looks and all friendly smiles. So, I dropped in at my son's house to show him what I'd gotten for my birthday.

He was shocked as I'm a rather conservative male and this is way outside what he knows of my character. My grandaughter loved them. My daughter in law just smiled real big and took it in stride.

It seems all my concern about piercing my ears was a big waste of time! I wish I'd done it sooner. They used a gun to pierce me and it was less than a pinch. There was no pain, only a tiny bit of pressure and it didn't even make me wince.

I'd read here that nobody really cares whether you pierce your ears or not but I had a hard time accepting that. I found out that they do care. Everyone that checked out my ears smiled or simply accepted it as normal and walked on.

The most important people in my life who I thought would have a problem with it accepted it with such ease that you'd have thought I'd just went out and bought myself a new tie!

If you're waiting to pierce your ears...stop waiting and go do it.

Oh, and the wife, who had some serious reservations, loves the way my ears look. She didn't think she would but after seeing them pierced she was happily surprised.

Hugs-n-Happiness,

Dee

Happy birthday! Congrats on a great gift for yourself. I'd say that in this day and age, having pierced ears in not gonna draw many negative reactions from most people. I had one done a while back but it did not last long. I had a problem with it poking me and it ended up swelling up. I took it out and let it heal.

I have given thought to getting both done. My wife is pretty supportive...I wonder what she would say about it.

As for the shaved legs, over the course of a few months I shaved my chest, legs, pits, and trimmed my arms. I absolutely love it! So does my wife luckily. I have grown to HATE with a passion having body hair (I let my pit hair grow back a bit and when I looked down one day and saw hair sticking out I thought it was gross. I have not had a hair below my ears since)

I could never go back as I love my smooth body. In the few years it's been since I shaved it all off I have received exactly zero comments good or bad.

Enjoy the new look!

Happy birthday. Congratulation for your dream coming true. What is great is that you could share this with your familly without bad reactions. I hope you will soon wear all the earrings you wished to wear when you ears weren't pierced.

Thanks everyone!

I felt I had to move to the pierced earrings. I purchased clip ons but every time I wore them for more than a couple hours they damaged my ear lobes. I pretty much had to give up earrings.

It made me so sad because I love how earrings make me look and feel so much better. I just couldn't go on without them so I took the plunge. I feel pretty again. :cheer:

Good for you. I know once they heal you'll have a great time picking out all sorts of earings. Had mine both done a couple years ago and am never without. Oh and Happy Birthday.

DeeAnn,

You had me smiling ear to ear, feeling your exhilaration as I read this thread, then I laughed out loud at 8000 pair. A very happy birthday to you and big big congratulations on these steps. For being such simple little actions they are really big steps mentally.

Hugs,
Sonia

Yeah, I like to died when I found all those earrings but the rough part is I have to keep these for 6 weeks then I can only wear posts for the first 6 months.

I'll live with that. I'm just loving that everyone in my life has been so very accepting of the change.

You're right about it being such a simple little acion that is a big step mentally. Before I took that big step it seemed so huge and impossible. After taking the step I can't help but wonder what it was I was worried about. The pierced ears seem so natural already. Go figure.

Oh, and I'm glad I was able to share a little happiness in your life. :GD:

I'm actually not deeply into pantyhose yet. I do have a couple pair but I haven't tried them on since I shaved. Do you think I should? :daydreaming:

Just don't get impatient and put heavy earrings in too soon. Wait the full time they told you and you will be aheadin the end. Rushing will make you have to wait even longer for healing. I know it'shard to wait but do.

I have had my ears pierced for at least 10 years...multiple holes in both ears..not a single person has ever looked twice at me because of it.

I'm Sherrii, line in R.I. and love to mountain bike. I have been out west some in the past and love biking out your way too. If you want to e mail me OK, it's [email protected]. Put something about mountain biking in the subject so I won't delete your message along with the other spam. I was doing maybe 2000 miles of trail riding a year for years, then I ended up diviorced and now have less time but I still try and ride some for fun and fitness. I can access some nice trails from my back door so I have been doing that instead of traveling on weekends to ride in a state forest. I have developed other interests too so I have to try and fit everything in.

I checked out your pictures and you look great. Do you dress when riding? Sometimes I wear a womans top and small forms that don't seem too obvious. I don't try and pass, too tall to even try.

Bye for now, Sherrii

Good for you! Piercing seems to be a recurring theme on the boards...

Well done, I had mine done about nine months ago. When my daughters saw the gold studs, I thought their eyes were going to pop! OMG was their reaction, mind you just a little time before I had my hair dyed and permed. So it was quite a lot to take in, my sister still cannot get used to her brother with earings and a perm, but by and large family and friends have accepted the fact. I now have a wonderful collection of drop earings of every size and shape. It is my birthday in April so I am now wondering what 'treat' I can get myself? Nipples????? Hope you enjoy your new freedom and that you had a great birthday. Good Luck, Good Health and Happiness,
Love Lesley Ann
