I’m not sure of exactly what to make of this…. However….
The other day, I had the chance to spend a whole bunch of time at a local spa/ salon. Went for the full body massage , facial treatment , and pedicure. (yummy) Now, the woman who was taking care of me “knows” all about me, so that might have some bearing on what was said.
I had planned on a “deep tissue” style of massage, (gotta get the winter kinks worked out), however, she asked me if I had ever considered Reiki massage. I’ve heard of it but hadn’t ever actually experienced it. ( I’ve seen her certification diploma hanging on the wall of the massage room) Being willing to try anything once, I told her to go ahead and “give it a go” Actually my exact quote was, “I left all my free will locked up in my truck, go ahead and do what you will. Think of me as your ‘Ken Doll’ and experiment all you wish” ( know, I know, some would say I should have said “Barbie Doll” rather than Ken, but you get the idea)[ I find that giving a “tech” free reign to expand their artistic ability makes for a better experience, provided they know what they’re doing ]

With that thought in mind she went about her massage. Now, I don’t know a whole bunch about Eastern culture, and it’s religions, just enough to understand I don’t really know anything. I intentionally kept my eyes close the whole time and simply enjoyed the moment. (So relaxing, it became work to stay awake, and enjoy the relaxation). When she was finished, she asked me what I thought. I allowed as how I really wasn’t sure. The “hands on” aspect was nice, but not getting the deep kneading of the muscles was somewhat disappointing. She accepted that comment and explained that Reiki wasn’t about a physical manipulation of the tissue, but more of a spiritual thing.
She went on to say that while she was holding her hands over my “Root Chakra” (NOT TOUCHING ANYTHING) she did notice quite a bit of a sensation of pushing and pulling.
This was one of the reasons why I kept my eyes closed, to not unduly influence any action on my part during the session. Basically her comment was something like, “You should make up your mind about what you want to do. Your female side wants to burst forth and your male side is pulling back.”
I was wearing a rather snug pair of undies at the time, and “properly” tucked. Reflecting on the just finished session, I knew there hadn’t been any “physical” reaction on my part, so I thought her statement was quite interesting. Could it be because she “knows” about me, or could there actually have been “something” going on that I wasn’t aware of.?
I suppose if one has a firm belief in this, it could very well be an affirmation of inner feelings, otherwise one could simply put it off to being a charlatan. Either way, I simply put this slice of life out there for reading and/or commenting.

The chakras are the nexus energy centers in our body Phyliss. There are seven basic ones, some say there are more. That the energy is there is a fact. The amount of "hucus pocus" involved depends on the individual practicioner. Nothing really mystical about it in any case.:)

Here is what wikipedia says about Chakras

A chakra is a center of activity that receives, assimilates, and expresses life force energy. The word chakra literally translates as wheel or disk and refers to a spinning sphere of bioenergetic activity emanating from the major nerve ganglia branching forward from the spinal column. There are six of these wheels stacked in a column of energy that spans from the base of the spine to the middle of the forehead. And the seventh which is beyond the physical region. It is the six major chakras that correlate with basic states of consciousness...

Reiki comes out of japanese buddhism. It's in essance a form of energy healing the idea is that the reiki sends a divine energy to help the patient relax and promotes healing.

Where the strange insight might come in is that reiki teaches people to percieve the aura of a person usually to help with healing but it can also provide insight into mental or emotional things that need "healing" in eastern medicine its all interrelated.

Some yoga sessions focus on certain chakras with different sets of poses. There is some truth to some of it, but if I went in for a massage and got the hands hovering over me, I'd be a bit "disappointed".

I heard of chakra from the Japanese Anime show Naruto, while watching it with my son. In this case, I'm sure it was being used as a literary device to describe the inner life force of the Ninja characters. The more they had, the more powerful they would be in using their jutsu (techniques, magic or otherwise).

Naruto btw has story lines where characters are transgendered. Either by magic or by choice. In fact the Japanese culture seems to be fascinated by this as their Manga and Anime is loaded with these topics. But I digress.

Maybe I'll put something out about that. I'm not an expert in Japanese Transgendered Culture, but it might be a fun topic.

I guess the point of my post was to comment on the "pushing and pulling" comment made by her. I found that to be rather interesting.
I hadn't mentioned to her any of my thoughts about "making THE change" Not that I want to at this time, but I have been giving some thought to "what if ?". As many here will attest, making a commitment like that involves much more than a pair of scissors.
I could afford the "cost" but am I willing to pay the "price" ? Before I decide to see a therapist, I need to make up my mind if it's even worth it. Truth and Honesty to myself is my PRIME directive. Sure, the "grass looks greener..." and maybe it even is, but I know this pasture all too well. Would I be comfortable "over there", once I cross the "fence" there is NO going back or any sort of "do over"

I happen to be a Reiki master and I have found that my 'healing' energy is magnified when I am en femme...

I don't doubt that your 'practitioner' felt that sensation when near the root chakra...I also get impressions of things when doing my healing work...most times when working with a gg I will be left with a residual feminine feeling from them...so even after I return to my male self I have some of that left 'in' me...it goes away after a short while...(sigh)

by the way...my Reiki teacher, a psychic, is partly responsible for my female name...a good female friend contributed as well since she also thought I was a Sammi/Samantha(she is a strong intuitive, if not truly psychic)...

anyway, good luck with whatever choice you make...I will send distance Reiki energy (done during my daily meditation) to you to aid in your decision making process...

namaste,

Samantha

With all the different people here, I just KNEW there had to be somebody who is an expert at this.

Thank you for the assistance in my decision making process.
