View Full Version : My theory on being read

I have a theory as to why we CD'ers are sometimes read in public.
While walking around town centres and shopping centres this bank holiday weekend, I noticed a lot of GG's.
The ones I noticed were very well dressed and had perfect makeup, the others I didn't realy look at.
So here is my theory, WE LOOK TO GOOD.
We take great care into making sure our outfit and makeup are perfect, so obviously we are noticed more. This means we are read.
I'm not saying don't take soo much care when getting ready but maybe sometimes when we think we are being read, we may just be being 'eyed up'.
That's not such a bad thing, is it?

i like that idea!
I was once out in town and got lots of looks, i was sure they all knew. That was until i walked passed a market research guy (about my age, 19 at the time) He just smiled at me and said "Do you have a few minutes madam?" WOW! He had no idea. I often try to imagine the shock he would have got if i'd actually spoken to him!!

I think your absolutely correct we do take our time in making sure everything is perfect and as far as talking many of us should i think just nod. Because once we open our mouths no matter how good we look, We are DEAD don't you think? I've tried Practiceing but can't even go one octive higher in my speach. Anyone has any tricks for that let me know :)

Got a 180lb. problem miself. Probably doesn't help that I have an affectation for 7" platform stilettos, which puts me up to about 6'6".

Maddie, what a sweet thought! In heels I'm 6'6". And I'll never be mistaken for a petite. But when I go out, I feel beautiful. From now on, I'll accept the stares as compliments!

If only were it that! No one's ever accused me of looking too good.

I think you might have a point here. Lately I have been buying more casual clothes. Not many GG's wear elegant dresses, pearls and heals to the mall or supermarket. I have been buying more things like denim skirts, jeans and simple tops to try and blend in better.
I think the main problem we have is makeup. Most of us need so much coverup that it is hard not to look all done up.

Ophelia, Darlene - I wasn't fishing for compliments, but thank you!
Maddies point finally sunk in last night as I was drifting off to sleep. Nicely dressed women are just aren't as common any more. I watched women come into a restaurant last week, out of about 30 only two or three were wearing skirts.
Can any GG's here explain the attraction to jeans?!!!! Is it comfort? (skirts are more comfortable IMO), Is it that jeans just go with everything? Is it....

I don't know Fallenangel. A lot of GG's I know dress for themselves in what makes them feel good - provocative or comfortable.
I dress to feel relaxed, sexy, attractive, comfortable. Who knows what my mood may be? Whatever it is, I am in no way advertising.

women dont take care to look like women anymore,, i have seen cds who r better looking women than real women,,,just so long as ur not wearing a ton of blue eyeshadow,,look like mimi bobek from drew carey
women have also goten lazy in how they dress,, the younger generation goes out in public wearing their pajama bottoms as pants,, im sure u have seen them,,
i myself would rather wear a skirt than pants or shorts,,, and i LUV open toe strappy heels 4 inch heels r just perfect,, in fact walking in heels HELPS my back when it hurts :D
just my 2 cents...

I agree that you have to dress for where you are going: I used to get all dolled up in a suit and heels and go to a suburban shopping mall, and of course I stood out. Once I started wearing casual skirts and sweaters or a jumper and flats, I found myself much more comfortable and I sort of blended in. Of course, losing 15 pounds helped a lot, too - I don't get read so much any more, and when I do, I figure nobody goes four-for-four in the All Star Game! Enjoy the good times, Windy
