It is a question I have, I would not be surprised if my father was a very deep in the closet dresser, and I am sure my son is one of us, (tried to talk to him several times). So anyone else have the same family traits?

I can't imagine anyone in my family being a crossdresser and I'm sure that until I came out to my brother none of them would have suspected that I dress. So many of us hide from our friends and families that most of us know very few other crossdressers.

I have GF family who choose to dress as men but no GM that dress as women, none that admit it any way.

My sister does, her dad (whom is not my dad) maybe did at some point as as fetish according to my mom. My mom is a tomboy and rarely ever wears feminine things. I think she was coming out as a dress-wearer around the same time I did. lol
My grandmothers best friend who is like a family member to us and has been living with my grandmother for almost 30 years dresses even more tomboy than my mom.
My mom's sister is also very tomboy.
Think it runs in the family?

My dad wears panties, and this is one of the reasons I chose to stop dressing. I'm doing my darndest to not be like him in any way. Coming here satisfies the need, and it's been almost 2 years since I've dressed.

I don't think so but I could be wrong. I have been dressing since my teens and when my mom caught me we had a long talk and she helped me!!! Since then I ALWAYS prayed that I would be changed into her daughter. Nothing changed, I'm still a genetic male but totally in touch with my female side.

I think you have deeper issues than dressing Stacy.............have you had professional help to address these issues?

Yes, my first wife's brother also dresses. He came out to us when he saw my picture online. Since my first wife passed away, we've remained close friends.

Many years ago when I was in the milatary my brother suddenly left town and cut ties with all his friends. No one would tell me why. Though I did have a short conversasion with his ex girl friend. She would not say much but did alude to something concerning woman's underwear and something she might of said to others. At the time I was not going to say anything about my self to her or him. Now I am out of touch with most of my family, so there is no way to ask him.

My dad once went to a fancy dress party in full drag, but as he died before i ever came out i never knew whether there was more to it.
When i came out to my mum, i mentioned as to whether my dad would have given me a hard time about me being a c/der and she said "probably not, he would have likely been ok about it".
I didn,t like to question her more as she didn,t seem willing to talk further, although she has been very supportive of me being a c/der.

Until recently I did not know this but, I have found out that my Grandfather was a CD. I never got to meet him because he was murdered partly because of the fact he CD'ed. So ever since I found this out I have been curious if it is hereditary. I was kind of relieved when I found out about my grandfather because it made me feel not so alone in my family. No one in my family knows about me but my wife so it really kind of did help. Well that's all I know about other family members. Thanks for the question hope my answer helped some.

Four of my five brothers know. I personally told them, and they all said that they are OK with it. I can do whatever makes me happy! But no one said that they also dress. Thats OK. Leaves more panties for me.

None that I know of, and I'd be very surprised if my father or brothers were like me. Nobody in my family knows (yet), but I think mom was suspicious. She found a pair of girls panties once when I was about 11 and asked where they came from, but didn't push it.

This is interesting that some know about CDing relatives. But just because we might knowof it our own families, doesn't mean that there's a strictly genetic component.

Since we guess that CDs might be anywhere from 3 to 10 percent of the male population, the chances of having CD relatives among our thousands of members is pretty good.

A little off topic, so let's not start the nurture/nature thing here, okay?

sorry!

Funny.

Actually I thought it was a reasonably logical point.

One similarity is not neccessarily connected to another. Whatever the specific thing is that you don't want to share with your father there are still some things you'll share with him and many other parts of humanity. Having two arms, legs, eyes, nostrils, ears is rather likely. Eye colour hair colour and genes will be in there to some extent too (even if your carrying genes not expressed in you).

Whatever the reason you want to be different from him isn' it best to ensure the difference is the specific thing that you abhor and not hurt yourself by fighting the parts of you that aren't related to that bad thing/s?

If CDing is genetic (or sometimes genetic) then you may have a CDing or transexual kid or one with some other inherited trait so ensuring you narrow your hate/anger/etc to just the main problem/s would be good for you and any kids you may have.

As for me, no close relatives that I know of, but one of my ancestors was the short hair and pants-wearing Irish Pirate Queen Gracie O'Malley.

My Sister-In-Law is gay. She has no idea that I dress. It's funny because she has mentioned more than once now that she wants to dress me up one night as a girl, and go to one of her bars.

My cousin was a life long CD, untill he admitted his gayness in his mid twenties. Then he stopped and spent the rest of his days with men. Funny thing about our relationship, is that he thought I hated him, because he was CD/gay. We were both in our thirties before we got that straightened out. Funny how we don't communicate sometimes.

Years ago I worked with a brother and sister who both were transgendered and gay. In their case, I suspect there was a genetic reason for it. I like them both, but the brother was a little off the wall, mentally.

According to my survey results (2001):

I Know Other Family Member's Who Cross-Dress (Responses: 293)

Yes : 21 (7%)
No : 224 (76%)
N/A (Not Applicable): 48 (16%)

I don't know of any other family members that crossdress, but I haven't asked the question and nobobody has volunteered that information. I suspect that the results could be higher than 7% if we actually knew.

Since most of my family has split across the world and we only talk via phone/letters/e-mail I'm not sure

As far as I know I'm the only one, expect my Brother does like dressing up as a knight and tries to knock somebody's block off every month at dungons & dragons re-enactment group :)

my dad was a closet CD...didn't know until we cleaned out his closet, after he died. I remember once, not long before his death, he started coming out to me...very complicated, too long for this thread and I'm not ready to tell it...he told me he thought he might be gay, I though he meant that, after his divorce, he was unable to find a long term relationship with a woman...hmmm...wonder if he had come out to me??????

Upon reflection, it might be good to discover that another member of my family was a CDer. We could at least share makeup!

I've suspected every male in my family may have dabbled in CD. I had two grand uncles that were bachelors, hmmm. I found one of my brother's porn mags with the TS pic bookmarked, hmmm. (All of this was decades ago)

I remember my nephew as a child somehow noticing my panty lines under my jeans. In the last few years I've discovered lingerie in his room. Also, my other nephew is on the androgynous side.

Since we're dysfunctional, no one talks about it. I guess the family knows about my affinity for female clothing. I told my sister over 25 years ago, and she can't keep a secret.

When growing up as a child I always thought that my Dad might be a cd. He always dressed up as a witch on Halloween and I remember seeing pictures of him dressed in other situations like parties or mock weddings. Of course I knew I was a cd at a very young age but this was something that was not discussed in my family. I have often thought that I might have inherited this from him.

I can honestly say the only one I know of was my biological dad, he passed away almost 20 yrs ago, My sister told me about times that she remembers seeing him running around the house while wearing pretty much only pantyhose, she said that went on for years, and well since the apple doesnt fall far from the tree I started CrossDressing at age 14, My sister knows about my Crossdressing and from the very first has been supportive and understanding more than I could ever ask from a sister, but as for my family I am probably the last remaining crossdresser trying to make my way thru life,

I'd take her up on that offer :) What a perfect segway into coming out to her (if that is your desire).

In response to the original question though, I am not 100% sure. While my mother did give me the "Those are your fathers" response when I asked about the pantyhose on top of HIS pile of laundry, I suspect that was one of her ways to try and get me to come out to her (she knew already but did not say anything as it was up to me to come to her when I was ready). One never knows though... Although, my dad does know about Kandis and has the "If I don't talk about it, it doesn't exist" mentality.

It was a real suprise to me when my brother told me how much he CDed in the past. I had come to terms with who I was as he was fulltilt and didn't even let me know about himself. He just recently told me how much and how long he did it before purging calling it a phase.

I did come across some reserch stating that there might be a connection with CDing being passed along genitic lines from father to son. So it didn't bug me that my brother CDed, just that he didn't offer help when I came out. :)

I don't know of anyone in my family but I've had a friend pegged as a CD for quite some time now.

I suppose this falls in the "takes one to know one" category but when we were both out of college he went as a cheerleader to a Halloween party (clearly his idea) and enjoyed it waaaay too much.

There are also some other little signs and I would have talked to him about it directly but I know he is a very repressed type and also works for the FBI and would probably never admit it anyway.
