Ok guys and galls, a question.

I'm about to send of my driving licence to get my name chainged on it. If posible, I want to get the gender code chainged on it as well. Now, I know you need a letter from a psychologist(psychiatrist?) or a doctor to do that, but can that doctor be my gp seeing as I'm not yet a patient a charing cross ect.

I just want to know for sure befor I go and bug the gp for no reason, or get turned down by the dvla.

Thanks in advence,
-John

Apparently, the DVLA will take your word for it to change your gender marker if you can state you have transitioned and are now living full time as a male - and are going to keep on doing that? You will also need proof of your legal name change (stat dec, deed poll, etc)?

It's only your passport you will need a specialist's letter for?

Remember also, when you change the name on your licence, you will need to change the name on your insurance? :)

Yep, it can be from your GP - mine was, and it worked fine. My GP just copied and pasted the letter from here (http://ftm.org.uk/node/57) and filled it in appropriately, printed it out on headed paper and signed about 10 copies for me (just to make sure I had enough).
