Does anyone have a friend or someone help with your cd'ing? I'm just wondering because I've not taken my femme side further till I got a friend to help me. I honestly don't think I would anymore if I didn't have someone. Is that weird or am I normal?

Yup. I've made tremendous progress this year thanks to some wonderful friends who have been teaching me. :D

There is no such thing as "normal".

I cross dressed in my teens with my sisters clothes.

No-one knew.

I crossed dressed with my wifes clothes.

No-one knew.

Now I cross dress with my own clothes with her assistance. She does my hair and makeup. We hang out together watching dvd's and just being together.

She likes the girly change in my character as we play.

I'd miss a friend to dress up with.

Good luck, best wishes.

My Tri-Ess chapter, Chi Delta Mu has been a BIG help for me. They've helped me to become more accepting of myself as a cd. And lately, I've found myself dressing up a bit more than usual as a result.

Yup! Although my SO has left and gone south to be with her kids, she has helped me in so many ways...
Shopping together, doing my hair, makeup tips, etc.
Especially helping me make the decision to go full time.
We're still good friends and talk often, but just girlfriends now.
Although it's not for everyone, it works for me.
Now I have others that shop with me and help with hair & stuff.
Some are male and some female. Ain't life grand?

I didn't vote, because my beloved helper wife has gone to be with our Lord! But I still dress frequently and do go out in public dressed pretty much feminine. Just don't wear a wig (I am bald on top) or very much makeup. My late wife always did my wig and makeup so well that I could, and did, pass!:) I cannot do that so don't even try.

Most of my CDing has been just me from the beginning. The first times I went out saying I looked bad would be very nice. I look back at what I wore, the makeup job and colors. The only thing that got me through it was my attitude. Because from the laughs, and comments I looked like shxt.

After those first few time I sat in the living room "watching TV" while my wife did make overs in the the next room. I could not tell you what I was watching. Within the past few years my wife has helped me some. Makeup pointers and with what clothes work for me. The times she has gone out with me she has helped me a bit more with makeup. And more and more she has been willing to help me coordinate outfits for going out. But for the most part it has been all on me.

The very process of making up and dressing excites me. I want to do it by myself. But it would be fun to have someone to do it with. Never have, though.

Yes, my loving wife. She helps me pick out clothes, makeup, even wigs. She teases me about being better at dressing me than herself.:daydreaming:

My lovely and loving wife. She helps me pick out clothes, has stayed up late to win me wigs on Ebay. She advises with the makeup and is most free with the ''pretty" comments. We quite often have Sunday dinners toghether when I am dressed But, she is forever dragging me to Payless and making me buy shoes, even when I dont expect it!:love: I absolutely love her to pieces for all her support. :o Dael

Wasn't sure how to answer the poll. My two wives (I'm a remarried widower, rather than polygamous) have both been very supportive of my CDing, to the point of encouraging me to live full time. But neither of them has worn much makeup or had much interest in fashion. So I haven't had much technical help, but a lot of emotional support. I've learned makeup from the three makevoers I've had in my life. After the third makeover, a friend said I did my makeup better myself, so what I learned was No more makeovers for me! And like most women, I've learned a lot from practicing.

A couple months ago I posted a quesiton on this forum about liquid eyeliner. I got some very helpful replies and since then I've practiced with it. For a while, I only used it when I had plenty of time in the morning and wasn't nervous. In the last couple of weeks I've begun to use it daily. Thanks, everyone who contributed!

Blessings,
Rikki

Over the years, fifteen to be exact. I've had a GG hairdresser, who has helped me with wigs, makeup, nails, waxing. She's such a dear person, still see her to this day.
Found out about her through Crossroads here in Detroit. Also I've got one special MAC SA I go to for makeup. She's been great as well. From my hairdresser, to the gal that does my electrolysis, all the GG's that I've gone to with my crossdressing problems, have been very friendly, understanding and helpful. LOVE EM ALL!!

Lots of help and from many different sources but sadly not from my dear wife. I have some good reliable cd friends who help me by going out together and storing my clothes for me. I have lots of real girls who are supportive and give me confidence. I have all the good folks on forums such as this

Early on, I had lot of help from an experienced CDer and a good friend who's a GG.
Now that I have enough experience and have things pretty much down pat, I don't really go to them for much help any more except for when we go shopping. :)

Hugs!

I have several gg friends that have helped me over the years with overall fashion recommendations, accessorizing, makeup help, etc. One friend in particular works in the fashion business. She laughingly refers to herself as Jodi's fashion consultant. We will spend the entire day shopping, which is great fun. This girl knows her fashion and always presents with a stylish appearance. When shopping we will get each other's opinions on items we are looking at or trying on. When shopping with her, I am always in drab. She will not bat an eye at picking out an outfit, holding it up in front of me, and saying "you've got to try this on". She will then tell me which shoes, bag, and jewelry will really set it off. Nothing like having your own expert with you when shopping.

Evies Mistress helps her dress and goes shopping with her. She loves taking her to new stores and making her try on dresses, shoes, bras and blouses in public stores, and then take her home to play with makeup and nails and dress up, etc.

We have a great deal of fun playing with makeup and trying new styles, and looks on each other. :daydreaming:

I voted no, but lots of my friends here in the UK have used or continue to use dressing services - Jodie-Lynn, at the Boudoir, particularly seems able to generate a very strong 'gang' spirit and her girls are a close-knit family?

I think they're a good way to learn a lot, quickly - but IMHO it's great fun to learn how to do things for yourself, just like every other woman has to? :)

Today I packed a gym bag with some newly purchased clothes and jewelry and visited a cd friend of mine. She met me at the door decked out in a beautiful outfit. I had a wonderful time. We laughed alot. She taught me alot about applying make-up and I actually did a good job with the eye-liner. Thanks so much to my friend Dee Dee and to all those on this forum who share their knowledge and experience. love to all Toots

Without my wife I'm sure my vision of being a woman would be a mess! Just tonight we talked about a detailed vision of dressing and how women talk about it (i.e. how they express themselves talking to each other). We also just relearned to gether that I am an apple shape, and horizontal lines on top are not flattering! This includes the two new tops I bought where the "boat" opening accentuated my broad shoulders too much (although they covered my strong arms!). We agreed that these would be relegated to the back of the closet, and that scrunchy ruffles of a peasant top was definately "out" for my wardrobe! But heck, she taught me all about makeup, thought it was neat that I went to the MAC counter to get color matched for foundation, concealer, and powder, and is just helping Tina look her best as we figure out who Tina really is! I'd be nowhere without my wife!!!!

Wouldn't bre lovely? She could help with blouses, bras, nighties, panties, slips. I have had continual fantasies about being helped for as long as I can remember

In a sense anyone who ever went to one of those transformation studios has had help (like me) but in the end it is all about my practicing the techniques.

I'm living proof that you can still get by without any help. The only special help I've had is from members from this site ~ for which I'll always be grateful.

Yes. I've been doing this (properly) for about 5 years now and my wife not only accepts but enthusiastically participates in the fun!

I had the same gg girlfreind for many years until she died after a long illness in 2005. She was a mentor to me. She taught me the basics of makeup, how to shave my legs, how to put on a pair of hose. We had a lot of shopping trips together and I would stay at her place often. This went on for 20 years or more. The last thing she did for me was to buy me a computer after she heard me carry on about how there's a lot of CD stuff on the internet.

I did/do a lot on my own. Clothing is all me. My therapist is/was amazed the first time I walk in as Kelli and to this day tells me I have amazing fashion sense.

As for makeup I struggled a bit for years. Coming close, but always feeling like I was missing something. I found a local GG Hairdresser/stylist about a year ago who sat me down and had a wonderful session. It was like getting the missing piece to a puzzle. To this day I still see her for new ideas and the fun of it. Along with doing my wigs. (My own hair is in the process of growing out though.)

Consider this most girls had other girls or mothers to show/guide them growing up. It doesn't hurt to have one yourself.

I didn't vote because I only had help once and it was wonderful. It was another CD with a great deal of experience. She helped me with my makeup and my wig. I even had my picture taken and got to try on some of her extensive wardrobe.
