When I was a teenager I wasn't real sure what to think about my desire to wear girly clothes but they made me feel different, turned on at first but that ended by 15 or so.
It all started when my sister would dress me up to play barbies, by the time I was twenty even buying girl things from some place that knew the items were for me was no longer a turn on, but I liked it when they treated me as just another girl,
not sexually but happy. After finding a few books and actually reading them, I would say by the time I was 23, I had learned what was going on with me and I realized that
purging was not going to work and I accepted myself as a Girl and statrted trying to learn how to actually be a Girl. I'm still learning.

About 10 years ago I threw all my women's clothes away and decided I was going to have enough willpower to stop. When I started buying bras and panties again, is when I knew I would never stop crossdressing.

It was about the age of 17 when I started to dress fully, back when I had the figure to do it well. Before then it was just wearing pretty undergarments and raiding my mother's heel collection. When I began to fully express my feminine side and discovered how relaxing and wonderful it was I was hooked. I would still get a sexual thrill from it, and I still do, but that is just one component of a much larger set of complex issues I am still trying to understand fully.

I never considered it a fetish. Nor did I think of it as being a CD, but since it turned out that I am a CD, I'd say about 39 years ago.

At about six years old I knew I wanted a skirt, but most of all one of those big net petticoats, all the fantastic colours :) . From about thirteen I was into slips and had one or two hid away.
At the time I met my wife, I had a good collection of slips that I thought I could do without, only to start collecting again when she found one :( .
I had to change into a slip at night just to convince her it realy was mine :) and within a year she bought me my first skirt.
25 years later I still love her so much but I would never take Jo any further.

Was wearing knickers/bras/skirts at about 13years. Threw all items away at 22years stayed away from crossdressing for about 1year. Then off and on till 5years ago. Now try and dress every day but its never been a fetish, its just been the natural thing for me to do.

I still don't know.
(I do suspect but I don't want to discuss it with myself.)

I started when I was 12...and even then I don't think I ever thought of it as a fetish. I just was doing something that I enjoyed doing, and felt somewhat compelled to do, and I don't think I ever gave much thought as to the what and why of it really.
Love,
Chrissie:)

I've been a crossdresser since the age of three - technically.
Then it moved to a fetish for heels.... then tights... the knickers...
Now I feel that I'm actually heading into a new and true "crossdressing" part of my life. Tomorrow I'm letting my money loose on the highstreet to buy a whole outfit or two with some lingerie. I think I only have about £60 to spend though. Poor me :(
But yeh - It's about now that I'm making the concious descision to take my dressing further.

It's never been a fetish for me. I was inexorably drawn to crossdressing probably when I was 4.

Although I was cross-dressing at age 6, I'd say that by the age of ten I was always looking for the oppertunity to be alone and get dressed.

I think that for many of us it has been a journey. It started out as a sexual thing, and although it still is, there has blossomed an element of peace and happiness in my dressing. I believe as we get more information about our own needs and desires, we tend to restructure what we need from our dressing. I guess the short answer to your question is I started dressing at age 12 and found that at age 16-18 it was more than a fetish.

I have cross dressed on and off since I was 10. I am now 47. I have never really considered myself a cross dresser until now.
I have spent all of my life thus far feeling uncomfortable about it, wanting to figure out how to stop it, wondering what was the matter with me.
After spending a few months on this board and reading so many wonderful posts it is only now that I am considering who I really am. Even though i do not have a single feminine clothing article, accessory, shoe or cosmetic, this community has done so much more than any cross dressing has ever done to make me feel like I want to jump up and scream out to the world...
I am a cross dresser and that is okay!

Although I began dressing during my pre-teens, it wasn't until my early 50's that I knew I was a bonafied, genuine, certified crossdresser. Been happy ever since.

I became aware of Rachel around the age of 30. Until about a year ago (age 59), I thought that I was just a pervert. (Not that this ever bothered me much.)
Then I noticed something. I had been on medications that (as a side effect) took away my sex drive. But, Rachel, then closeted, was calling to my boy self more strongly than ever.
The Internet has changed everything. I started Googling for Crossdressers, learned about gender and what transgender means, and found myself there. :D
In the process, I discovered just how many of us there are - I never would have dreamed. I now belong to a nice, ladylike crossdressing club, very private, with changing rooms and a nice makeup room. We get together every week for an evening of girl fun. :)
Hooray for our sisterhood!

Certain was about 10 months ago when I stopped hiding. You pretty quickly figure out what's real and what's not when you challenge yourself to stop hiding, and by that I mean even if people know and you're not engaging them. When a girl looks at my shoes at the office sometimes, I tell her where I found them. It's fun, it's real and my relationships with people are far better than they ever were.
My real struggle is finding whether I have the strength to take the next step. Having commitments, and my judgement of myself if I didn't, means its hard for me to go fulltime without breaking up my family and losing my children.
Life is meant to be challenging, and you're meant to learn throughout your life. If you didn't it would be a wasted life. I'd rather be what I am, than just go through the motions of living like so many do.

Hi Girls,
I have been dressing since the age of 10 with a little kick start from my dear sister ( thank god for sisters who enjoy dress ups).
I realise now that despite going thru the occasional purge I still come back,
I did read somewhere that it's like having the feelings burnt onto your hard-drive.....so I am trying to sit comfotably with it........next to tell my GG!!!

For me, it was around October last year. My son is away in college and my wife works during the day. I had 8 hours a day to be dressed. At first it was a thrill, but by the third day it became natural. It is something that I have been doing occasionally for 40+ years and everything feels and fits like I never should dress as a male again. I am glad to be able to read of the accomplishments of the other members at this forum.
Now if I could only convince my Wife......................

I started dressing when I was around 10 yrs old, no fetish just something I felt right doing! When puberty came around to me when I was about 12 yrs old my dressing took on a sexual or fetish type connatation! This went on until I was about 22 or 23 when the sexual thrill or fetish diminished. At 51 yrs old the only time I ever feel anything that could be described as a fetish is when I'm dressed in 1950's wedding night type lingerie! I still get 'tingly'!

I've never had the 'urge' to crossdress and it is certainly not a fetish. My enjoyment of dressing en femme has evolved over time and as I have developed a larger wardrobe. Now I have more time and opportunity to dress en femme and my enjoyment continues to grow.

always felt it but didn't really accept it until early 20's...many purges later and a whole lot of $$$. I think the internet over the last decade really helped me to explore it and find out that we are not alone.
Now I am very comfortable with myself and accept it, just need to balance it with all the other social aspects of family, work and society.

I started around 12, and did it because I wanted to look like a pretty woman. I still do, but it was around 13/14 when I thought more about myself, and realized that I was truly a crossdresser, and that I am who I am, and I like it, so it's going to stay that way, no matter waht others think.

I was aged four when I first wore a dress.
Early teens when I tried on skirts.
Sixteen when I had my own skirt.
Thirty something when I bought my first skirt.
In my fortys when I bought a suit and started to go outdoors.but not now
Late fortys when I became Elinor and found girlfriends [Janegirls} on the internet.
Fiftytwo when I first bought a skirt in person after seeing crossdressers in Seattle. I wished to join them.
So I knew I was a Janegirl around the age of fiftytwo and it was more than just a fetish.

It's something that has attracted me for a very long time. I wore my 1st dress when i was 12 and did it off and on for a number of years. It's just recently that I really come to accept my girly side.
