View Full Version : Do you try to dress on vacation?

In (hopefully) two weeks I will be going up to Vermont to visit my mom, that's where I'm from. Since no one in my family knows about Bilinda, I will not be taking any fem clothing.

That made me wonder if others do dress in fem while on vacation? I could see how, if you dress good enough to pass, that it would be fun to dress up and go out, since your a tourist and don't have to worry about bumping into someone you don't want to see.

Or you just would not care what people thought, since again your in a tourist frame of mind. Me, I still am a ways from being able to pass. And Vermont is redneck country, so a CD up there has the risk of being tied behind a 4X4 truck!!

(since I was born and raised there I have the right to call them rednecks if I want to)!

I try to dress everytime I go on vacation. I can usually find some place that will be friendly to a non-passable crossdresser. I don't dress in the small towns I go to but I dress in most every city I've been to, the biggest exception is Salt Lake City although there probably is a friendly place there.

I always 'think about it'... Even tho' the SO is 'approving', I'm thinking she is worried I'd be 'outted', and end up in trouble... (Tied behind a 4 X 4 would not be a fun thing)

Someday I'll get my chance, and I'll just keep thinking that sooner or later, its really going to happen..:daydreaming::)

I've got to disagree there. While we DO have some rednecks just like any state, as a whole VT is one of the most (if not THE most) liberal states in the country. Everything is very 'live and let live' up here where I think that most differences are readily accepted.

I'm a CD that has lived here (Southeastern part of the state) for my entire life and can't imaging living in a place where different lifestyles are as well accepted... from same sex couples, to hippies left over from the 60s to libertarians, communists, socialists and on and on.

What other state can you think of with a socialist congressman (Bernard Sanders) and NO nudity laws, so not only is clothing a non-issue, so it total LACK of clothing. :)

What part of the state are you heading to? If you are going to be doing the tourist thing in the SE, let me know where you will be and maybe I'll just have to turn up to 'girl watch'. :D

One of our best vacations = wife and I driving 400mi to a cabin for the weekend. I spent 95% of the time dressed and loved it. brought male clothes for one dinner.

One of the better vacations I've had.

HI Cristi! I was born and raised in St. Albans, VT. That's about 15 miles from the Canada border, way up north. I agree that a lot of areas in Vermont, especially the UVM/Burlington area is very open minded.

However most of the small towns up in the northern part are really "bubba" types that will kick your teeth in if your gay or seem gay, and they think all CD's are gay! I know because I had gay friends beat up pretty bad up there.

So I suppose it depends on where you are. I'm glad where you are they are more understanding. Don't try to go out to a club in St. Albans dressed up!!!

I am actually leaving on vacation after Memorial Day, flying to Reno and driving to Lake Tahoe. I am taking lots of femme stuff and a few guy things. I am planning on a makeover and spending the entire week or as much as possible en femme. :daydreaming:

I'm very familiar with the St. Albans area. You are right, it is a bit more of a... let us say 'conservative' area. My wife and I were just in Burlington earlier this week for a bit of a vacation. We like the college town atmosphere.

We live in the Brattleboro area now. There is quite a wide variety of people down here, from rednecks to aging hippies and same sex couples, but the most part everybody gets along well. The only reason I'm not 'out' has nothing to do with the area itself, but more about my family, all of whom live within about 5 miles of me :(

I hope you do get to VT for your vacation. The lilacs and apple trees are in bloom in Burlington right now, so everything is fresh, green and pretty smelling. :)

We had a ton of fun on Church St. (a closed street with open-air shops and restaurants) just sitting on a bench and people watching for a while. The nice thing we noticed, with the college aged kids and warm Spring temperaturs, was that 50% or more of the women were in skirts or nice sundresses. :)

[QUOTE=Bilinda;1299811]In (hopefully) two weeks I will be going up to Vermont to visit my mom, that's where I'm from. Since no one in my family knows about Bilinda, I will not be taking any fem clothing.

I'm in a similar boat when it comes to members of my family not knowing that I crossdress, so on any vacation involving them, I do not crossdress. However, I almost always wear panties underneath my other clothes.
If I'm able to have some "vacation" time on my own, I try to dress throughout the time away. I'm not that passable, but I'm comfortable in lots of situations while dressed en femme (including checking into and out of motels and hotels).

If I am late getting you this reply, sorry. I live in Vemront and we are not all Rednecks, but I do consider my self one and do drive a 4X4 P/U.

Depending on where you go in Vt, you'll be just fine. Burlington is your best bet. It is very BLGT friendly. There is plenty to do, pleanty to see and places to eat.

Enjoy!

Well I guess it will be another few weeks, maybe even a month before I can go. I was waiting for that "economic stimulant" check. But I found out they are mailing them out based on your last 2 numbers of your SSI. Mine is 75, which means the end of June.

At least it will be warm up there. Not hot, it's never hot in Vermont, not enough for me anyways! But it will be warm.

Dress on vacation.....:)....just came back from one, packed a mix of clothes bought some new makeup (eg blue eyeliner!) and had a great time dressing in various degrees of expression and adventurousness (not exactly out and about publically fully en femme though) Some photo sessions too....I might get around to putting them into an album sometime... or a thread. It was fun!! But I was holidaying alone, so unconstrained by company. Me being me.

If I ever went on vacation I would surely dress and maybe even go out. When I used to travel on business I would dress in the hotel room but never go out.

I have a couple times when I took solo vacations to visit friends or relatives that the family didn't want to see... And since I dress and go out on business.. Traveling enfemme is no biggie..

I have never taken Karren along on family vacations before... Might be kind akward.... "Here son... Hold mom and dad's purses for a minute". Hehehe

I was on Vacatiion for the Month of March, and I was Denise 24/7 for the whole month I was away.

I had a great time, felt good, and had no problems where ever I went.

The only bad thing was, when i had to go back to being DRAB when I got home.

Cant wait till the next time i go on Vacation as Denise:):):)

When we go a vacation I have trouble picking out what I should take so I take way to much. ( a women thing). I can put my guy stuff in a plastic bag from Home Depot. My gal stuff takes up a good side suit case. :battingeyelashes:

Manchester is a nice town if you like outlets... I live on the opposite side of the state, so don't know how the 'atmosphere' is regarding CDs.

All my vacations are enfemme, and when I travel I am always enfemme, I have been enfemme in Salt Lake City, Denver, Las vagas, orange county, Las Angeles, and all over the west and mid west enfemme. I am not worried about the red necks in there 4X4's, Hell I drive a big 4X4. I must be a redneck crossdresser LOL. Dont worry I wont be dragging a redneck behind my 4X4. A big city bar bully I might drag behind my 4X4, just kidding.:tongueout back to my point vacations enfemme are the best.

If I am driving by myself, I usually will wear panties, a bra, a skirt and a t-shirt. I have gone into fast-food places, filled up with gas, and made pit-stops at rest stops dressed like that. The feeling is great and never a cross word said.

it's funny you should mention since I just started my first vacay of the summer today and plan on spending as much time as possible out dressed. But then again I'm also very out and about so I don't feel the need to travel very far.

My last vacation was in January when I attend the First Event conference by Boston and had a chance to stay full time "Caroline" for almost five days (wonderful!). And I had a three day weekend out with my SISTERS last month.

So to answer your question. You bet!

When I decide on my vacations at the beginning of the year I ALWAYS plan at least one of those weeks as a "girly" week. I go shopping for new clothes, go out dressed. I always look forward to it
