View Full Version : Being a short guy...

A comment by Ashley in Jersey (sorry, Virginia) and talking to a CDer friend I met last week made me think of this...
I always hated how "short" I was - at 5'6", I'm not exactly a tall guy. I absolutely hated it. Once I accepted my feminine side, all of the sudden, a liability became an asset. Now, I couldn't be happier with my height.
The same applies to my relatively small frame. I hated how small I was and I spent years working out to bulk up. Thankfully, I stopped my body building before I got too bulked up.
Now, both my height (or lack thereof) and my relatively small frame help me in my CDing. I almost wish I didn't spend so much time in the gym now...I'd like (slightly) less muscle mass.

I always thought I was tall, I'm 5'10 so I worried about it for ever. Now I realise I am not exceptional and likely not tall enough to be a top model (as if). Come out of the gym and walk and walk and walk. That's my guess but it is a guess.

Katrina... You're beautiful!
Anyway, I have the same issue. 5'6" about 150 pounds. I did the same thing you did, hit the gym. My shoulders, chest and arms are much too masculine to pass. Right now, I wish I was just thin! I have to be very careful in the style of clothes I choose. The thing that upsets me is I love the look of a soft summer dress! Just can't wear one.... awww.

I am 5'7 at 137lbs. I love my height and want to go down to 125. When I reach that goal, I think I'd be happy. As far as shoulders ladies, I have come to realize that you can't do about it since it is due to your bone structure. You can't change that. What I've done though, is adjust my posture from shoulders forward (in guy mode) to shoulders backwards (in fem mode). i noticed that it makes you more feminine immediately (without the pain and money of surgery) Anyways. I have come to embrace my height, which is basically the point of this thread :D

It must be nice being 5'to5'7" it seems like most of the nicer looking outfits are for ladies that tall. Most of what I've seen in resale botiques are for ladies that size there is some really nice skirt suits, dresses and coats that I would love to have. Me, I'm 6' and 175 and as my SO says I'm large framed. That kind of limits me.

I am 5'7" and also small framed. I always felt a bit inferior around larger guys which was a good bit of the time. I did find that my small size was quite an advantage doing a lot of my work. I could get into places a larger man would just dream of doing. Then when I got serious with the dressing I realized that I was JUST RIGHT and would not want to change now if I could.

Being 5' 4" is perfect as I can fit petite and regular sizes. At 148 lbs I can fit most size 4 and 6's too. 9.5 M shoe. Tremendous beatiufl clothes selection at my small size!
Most of the girls on the Top Model show are ugly. They shouldn't have a requirement for the girls to be 5' 10" ? or taller. Lots of small beautiful women would be excluded. Like Eva Longoria at 5' 0" or Britney Spears when in shape at 5' 4" tall.

Hi Katrina,
I am slightly taller than you. 5ft 7in and also have a small frame . I have always loved being small and resisted all attempts by those trying to get me to bulk up at the gym
Whats wonderful, is not having problems with clothing and shoes.
Love,

I'm small all over including my feet. I'm shorter than 95% of GG's. It truly is an advantage in so many ways.

10 lbs. over my prefered weight, but no big deal.
I haven't worked out for years, but my "man" arms show up very often in my bare arm pics. They totally gross me out!:puke:

5' 7".....145 lbs......size 8 or 10 dress and size 9 womens shoe.
no complaints.
If I'm trying to attract a woman while in guy mode I hate my 5'6" and 143 lbs., Seems most women want a giant these days. But as Mona I love my size. It is tricky working out just enough to stay small without adding bulk though.

Mona; it's true. The younger women seem to be into the big boys but I notice the older ladies don't seem to mind as much. I see lots of them with smaller men. Must be a Darwinian thing. By the way; I use cycling and walking to work out. It tones the legs but mine don't bulk up. I do as little as I can with the upper body even if it means two trips to the car after shoping.

I am 5'8" and it is one reason my wife says I can go out and no one bothers me. I am still in the female height range. A little on the tall size but still in the female range. I think it is becauase my mother was 5'1", my older sister is 5'0", and my middle sister is 5' 2". Dad was only 5'9".

At 6' 2" 170 pounds, the only issue is that I kind of stick out, especially in 4" heels. :D On the other hand, I like the tall slender look, so it's not really a problem for me. I know GGs that are 6' and wear 6" heels, so its not like I'm a freak or anything.

I'm 5' 8 1/2" and I find that I'm tall enough for most ladies to be interested since avg for American women is about 5' 4" (I'm medium height for a man) and not too tall for a woman as long as I stay away from 4 inch heels.
I think that if you're up to about 5' 10" you're okay, and if you're about 5' 7" and above your okay for a man who wants to attract most ladies.

Thanks, Ya know I am trying to forget my Jersey experience. I appreciate you bringing it up :p
Anywho...
I am kinda small 5'5" , but built like a guy. I am not ripped or anything, but i am "fit" and being a "fit" guy means I have muscles showing. I spend 99.9999% of my life as a guy so in the big picture it isn't a big deal. Unfortunately in my pics, it is all I see. From my thighs and quads from cycling to my biceps and shoulders from working.
Katrina, I never though you were short. lol. In your pics, you always seemed to me to be taller. I dunno. :)

Well girls finally a thread I can relate to!!!! I am 5'2" tall and weigh 130lbs. Like most of you it has always bothered me as a guy but as a girl I am kind of cute and petite. My feet are also small. I wear a 6.5 women's shoe which makes it very difficult to buy men's shoes to fit. Many times I buy women's shoes and boots if they aren't too feminine to wear every day.

I'm 5'7" about 160 lbs. Height good, weight marginal, but a size 12 women's shoe really sucks, since all the really nice styles and or better quality shoes only go to a size 10 or so.

At 5'6" myself, I've also come to look at being short as being an assett. When I was younger I used to always hate being short, and wished I was over 6'0". Thank goodness that wish never came true.

That EXACTLY how I felt untilI realized I was so much better off as a girl, so being small (all over) was a huge asset. The jock type boys who used to be mean to me were now the ones that wanted to get to know me. So it was my turn to be mean to them and ignore them. :D

Life is really strange and it's ALWAYS greener on the other side of the fence. In our younger years we longed to be taller, bigger and manlier and in our later years we long to be shorter, smaller and prettier! On the last three I flunked all of them! Oh well, life goes on.

I am also 5'6" and all my life I wished I could be taller but it never happened. I used to stand up on a footstool and look around to see what it would be like to be tall. And guess what the world does look different if you are tall. I had to quit the footstool thing after a bit I kept getting nose bleeds. LOL

I'm so glad I'm 5' 16" tall!
And with 4" heels, I'm at eye level with the drivers sitting in their semi-trucks. That way they can whistle at me without even looking down.
If you ever want to know where I'm at, just tune in to the "The Weather Channel" and you'll see me on the radar!
And since my legs are so long, it takes me twice as long to put on my hose and therefore double my pleasure!
Yep, I love being 5' 16" tall. :tongueout

Hi Katrina,
I am with you too all the way on this one. Almost every word you wrote is exactly how I feel too. I always wanted to be taller (I'm 5 ft 4 ins) I always wanted to be bigger and stronger, and I always felt like I needed to be more muscular and so I started bodybuilding. I kept it up for a 7 year period. I added 20lb and quite a lot of muscle definition.
Then about 6 years ago I started to get more serious about being a crossdresser and stopped working out except for my jogging. Now I've lost all of that 20 lb and I'm back to my previous 130 lbs. My muscles have all but disappeared except for perhaps my arms that look a little like a female gymnasts arms when I flex them. There is musculature but it's small in size.
Like you, it's my small stature (the thing I always used to hate) is now my biggest asset when it comes to presenting as a woman.

Short? No.
I am 5' 10" in heels, and that is about tall enough, for most purposes.
Being a short guy ain't so bad, if you keep things in proper perspective. I can fit easy-to-find size nine high heels, and my height is not out of scale, when I wear them.

I am 6'3 and am jealous of anyone under 6'.. I go out dressed and do a pretty good job of blending (no one is staring or looking more than an instant) so I deal with it. Janet

I always wished I was taller when I was a kid, now all 5'5" of me is finally happy with my size. Wearing a size 7 1/2 shoe is nice too. Always hear of girls not being able to find shoes in the larger sizes. lucky me !!

Even if your smaller, it'll help even more to balance out your proportions if you pad your hips and butt.
I'm 5'9" and only 135 lbs, but with wide shoulders and narrow hips, you know, a swimmer's body. Size 7 or 9 below, but a 12 up top to get shoulder width.
But if I pad my 34" hips and butt out to 39 or 40 inches, I look very much more in the right shape, clothes fit better, and the wider shoulders don't stand out so much.

5'8" Here, 163 going to 145.I like to see nice shoulders and upper body on someone and think it looks good in both male and female mode, healthy= sexy.I also used to be so envious of those tall lanky types, usually it was because they were better in some sports, except for wrestling.

I'm 5' 8" and weigh about 162 lbs, that puts me right around a size 12. I'm not fat by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm bulky from many years of working as a carpenter. At my heaviest weight I was 198# and was sporting a 36 1/2" waist. I had all I could do to squeeze into most of my favorite clothes. My waist is down to a 33 now and although I'll never see my girlish 30" waist again, I'm satisfied with the way my clothes fit. Being "short" has been a blessing because it has been easier to find size 12 clothes that are proportionate to my build. Luv and :hugs: Jill
