Have you ever sold your CD stuff at a consignment shop? Or did they look down at the clothes as unfit for resale because it was worn for crossdressing? Maybe you'll have to go to the shop in drag?

And how do consignment shops work?

Why not Ebay? It seems as if it would be less hassle.

Ebay - I'd have to take time off from work just to ship stuff USPS - they don't work convienient hours and no weekends either in Houston. Maybe I'll have to ship UPS. But ebay is aweful for sellers - the listing fee, final value fee, and Paypal cuts hurt.

Point taken. but I would assume the consignment shop would charge a percentage as well? Also, you would have more people looking at the stuff on Ebay.

Yep, I sure have, actually made a few hundred bucks. As for them looking down on you? Why they just made a few hundred bucks to. They don't care they are in business to make money.

So as long as you take in nice stuff you won't have a problem.

How Consignment works? You take your stuff in and after it sells they pay you either 40-50% of the selling price. With the store keeping the rest.

Hi Kate,

I haven't had any of the problems you sited selling clothing to a resale shop. They didn't ask questions about who the clothes belonged to. All they expect is the clothes be in good and clean condition. They paid me in cash right on the spot. What could be more simpler to do. I did it drab too. And I have shopped at the some of the same stores as Renee, as well.

A couple years ago I had the opportuinty and need to reduce my collection as some things didnt fit and my tatsest for some things had changed.

I had a brand new wedding gown from my pseudo step daughter's gay wedding, a pair of Patent leather Mary Janes and some custom made dresses from my "little girl" period and some petticoats and a long haired quality wig.

After reading so many posts on this site and others from CDs who could not afford the items they wanted orm were still too shy to buy directly I opted to give them away. I paid for shipping as well.

I look on that as a donation to a worthy charity and it fely quite nice knowing I helped ease the longing of a few CDs feeling so frustrated.

It is a nice feeling and girls, you can do a wonderful thing for your sisters out there. These clothes were in mint condition. Please, if you want to share your bounty, be sure to share that which is of good quality and still has life and enjoyment left in it.

Remember, There but for the Gra:2c::2c:ce of God go you.

I have never tried to sell anything but have donated some things to Goodwill before. I frequently shop at Goodwill and have seen some of the things I have donated on the racks. One time I donated a dress that I really liked because it had a hem that needed to be repaired. I did not want to go through the hassle and cost of taking it somewhere to be repaired so I donated it. About a week later I seen the dress on the rack and the hem was very nicely repaired. The price was very cheap so I bought it back. I already knew it was going to fit me and I got a good laugh over getting it repaired for next to nothing.

I made a nice chuck of change selling all my BBW stuff to a consignment shop after I lost a bunch of weight.

The are often very picky on what they will take. Everything has to be clean, pressed or ironed if needed, stylish, and in excellent condition.

I had a ton of jeans and if they were even the slightest bit worn or ragged on the bottom from dragging on the ground they would not take them.

I took a bunch of stuff to a consignment shop years a go, I went in as a lady and the women there was very nice to me, I think I sold most of the things i took there, why would they care who had previously worn it:brolleyes:
