This is a request, being passed on directly from a friend. All info, including name and email, posted with express permission from her.

As many of you know, I'm currently getting my Masters in Forensic Mental Health Counseling. Right now I'm taking Developmental Psych in my summer program-

The final paper I'll be working on will be titled "Addressing Transgenderism in Children." In my paper, I'm hoping to address the two treatments of "pushing it down" and "accepting it" in terms of therapy. The age range I am hoping to discuss are those between the ages of 4-8. I know that children go through many cognitive changes during those years, but those years are also the first stages of serious social interaction with their peers.

As it is a fairly new area, research on it is limited, and I could use any help/suggestions anyone has. I've included my email below- Please email me or reply to this with any and all articles, books, studies, etc. that you may know of that could help. Thank you!

Cartoon that says it all below,

Dunno if this is of any use, but in the UK there's an organisation called Mermaids (http://www.mermaids.freeuk.com/) that offers support for the families of children with gender identity issues. I've never had any contact with them personally, but I've only ever heard good things about them. They might be able to suggest some helpful resources for your friend if she contacts them.
