Although I have another name that I use in other groups, 'Gena' is less complicated. the name, 'Gena' was given to me by a wonderful saleslady at the Estee Lauder counter at Macys. She asked me to use 'Gena' when I would call to see if see was working. I'm only 'Gena_2' here because 'Gena' was not available for me. Love this website!:)

I choose my name because first of all, I liked it and secondly, it is a derivative of my male name.

I'm not sure how I came up with my name. I'm irish so I guess Maggie sounded like it could be a bit irish.

My therapist recently asked if I had a middle name and after a brief thought Katherine (or Catherine .. I haven't decided on the spelling yet :D) came to mind.

I like the way Maggie Katherine sounded ... sort of classy in my opinion.

hugs - Maggie Katherine (or is it Catherine)

Secondly- I am a Beatles fan and had "Lovely Rita, Meter Maid" going through my head- the 2 ideas came together as a tribute to my 1st "love" and my favorite band![/QUOTE]

I LOVE the Beatles, too! Lovely, Rita!

My wife came up with my first name after seeing me fully dressed up, complete with makeup. I tossed around a few last names and came up with my last name, which my wife liked as well. And "Gabrielle Hermosa" as born. :)

As a child my perents would dress me in a panties and a little girls dress and call me sue sue. It was suppose to be for punishment and as I grew up they along with my brother would call me that to tease me. So for about six months after I came to the conclusion that I was more fem I used Sue.

But I decided I didn't have to have a name with so many negatiaves behind it. I alwasy like Jill and it matched my real first initial, so it worked out well.

BTW, my dad was from the same area in Arkansas as Johnny Cash and they did know each other. So I figured the song "a boy named Sue" was written about me.

You know the feeling that you get, the reaction that you make, when someone calls out your name (often to a person nearby)? It’s that kind of familiarity, that kind of identity, that I’ve had with the name Melissa for as long as I can remember. Unlike some of you, it’s not the name my parents would have chosen had I been born a biological girl and it’s nothing like my birth name. Yet, it’s every bit as much “me.” The other part of my login name (Sue) is actually not a middle name. It’s short for Summers, the last name that I’ve adopted. Summers is a simple name, again not at all like my more unusual (and sometimes hard to pronounce) given surname, but also a word that signifies the enjoyable times in my life when I celebrated my birth (often with my favorite dessert, strawberry shortcake with Bisquik!). My middle name is Eve, the first woman as told in Scripture and a word that refers to something immediately preceding an event, date or activity. For me, a complete name as a woman properly sets the stage for a changed life that follows.

The last name Curl is my mother's maiden name and I always thought is was so perfect for a lady.
Joanne Marie Curl

Thank you Joanne I think you have just helped me to find a last nime! I had never even given thought to mothers maiden name... Sarah Marie Bowe... it runs well I think.

The rest of it just fell into place years ago, always thought of myself as a Sarah, all the Sarah's I know are lovely people inside and out. Marie came from my ex-wife and my initials, S&M (she was the S and I was the M). So S M always made sense to me, so Sarah Marie I became. Now to ask mothers permition to use her maiden name to complete my self.:daydreaming:

Ok I will have to give a bit more thought to my last name... Any thoughts?

My name, Cathy, is special to me. Many years ago when I was a lowly Biology undergraduate I had a crush on a girl named Kathy. She was able to keep up with the boys and do all the field stuff we did, but she managed to remain very feminine all the while. I always admired that. I am Cathy and not Kathy because I had a brain lapse in spelling.

I picked up this genji name (alias) after searching for my real name meanings, instead of the real name, I found out "Izzy" in the list. So I remembered that one of the cartoon I watched when I was a kid use that name (of course it's boy character).
Luckily, "Izzy" is suit for both gender.. So I paired it with Valentine as my last name.

There you go "Izzy Valentine", and I found another name, which is I often use too.
An initial for Izzy, which is IV.. So I got "Ivy" as my another (yet girly) name. :D

I chose Kathryn for my most beloved fictional female ever, Captain Kathryn Janeway of the USS Voyager. She's strong, intelligent, outside the box, and principled to a fault. That said, she cares deeply for her friends and crew, and is flawed in just the right ways.

Oh, and when she's angry, she's hell on warp nacelles. For the best reference of this, see "Equinox Part I & II" from Voyager. Her humanity guides every decision she makes, for better or worse.

Many years ago when I was first contemplating a femme name I tried picking a cute moniker for myself but nothing felt quite right. Whatever name I tried just felt too...I dunno...made up. I wanted to own the name so to speak and didn't feel right naming myself. I hit upon the idea of asking my dad in a round about way what my name would have been if I had been born a girl. It turns out that before I was born my folks thought they had a girl on the way and had selected the name Elizabeth. Hence Beth. Short, simple and relatively close to my guy name. I liked it, it felt like something I could have just for me and given (albeit unknowingly) by someone I love very much.

A few weeks ago, I was in San Francisco for Macworld. I got totally dressed up and went to Diva's - a fun little drag bar. The bartender found out it was my first time dressed up and out and about, and said "What's your name, hon?" I gave her my guy name. She shook her head and asked again, "What's your name, hon?" Thinking she hadn't heard me the first time, I gave her my name again. She fixed me with a stare, and emphasizing every word, asked me again, "What's your name, hon?"

Suddenly, the light dawned (yeah, I know. I'm slow, but I'm a guy - it's expected). I said "Kathi." She smiled, and said "Welcome, Kathi." And that's where my first name came from - desperation. Why did I say Kathi? I'm not sure. Kathi was the name of my first kiss. She wore what is now my favorite perfume (Oscar De La Renta). Who knows, maybe I associate femininity with her. As for the last name? Ummmmm, it sounded good?

Oh yeah, learn from my mistake. If you go into a drag bar dressed as a woman, don't use the men's room like I did. I got some weird looks from the men in there as I left the stall, washed, touched up my gloss and fluffed my hair. One of the guys came up to me later and told me of my faux pas. Sigh. So much to learn! :battingeyelashes:

My name came from a girl in my secondary school. She was with her clothing, attitude, make up and hair a sort of rolemodel for me. Now more than 20 years later I still use this name for my femme alterego (still in the closet).

You all has so beautiful stories about your femme name. The story behind Lisa is not as beautiful, but may be funny in some ways.

Since i was eight years the love of my life was computers, that year Apple also started to sell their new computer which was named the Apple Lisa. That is not why I choose Lisa.

Later in my life, when I was about 18-20 years old I and a friend decided to have fun on a few IRC channels, we would present us as girls and see how everyone reacted. I choose the nick Lisa14_70C. That femme name was taken from that old Apple computer, I had a lot of fun with that.

And now when I started to CD Lisa came to me somewhat naturally, I really had called myself that before.

Vicki Felaise
01-22-2009, 02:42 PM
I had never really thought about a femme name until I started going online about a year before I first started going out dressed and found I needed a name to sign to my posts and, eventually, emails. The female equivalent of my given name "David" is Vida. That sounded a little too unusual for me, but it suggested Vicki, a name with only pleasant associations for me; most notably an attractive redhead I knew in school. Since I planned on being a redhead myself, it just seemed to fit. (I later saw "To Wong Fu" and was glad I hadn't picked Vida because a.) people might've assumed I borrowed it from the Patrick Swayze character, and b.) I couldn't do justice to that character's sense of style anyhow!)
I chose to spell my first name with an 'i' because it seemed trendier and fit with an idea I had for a last name: I decided the two 'd's in "David" could be the 'c-k' in "Vicki" and then I took any leftover letters and rearranged them into Felaise. It was only later that I found out it was a real name. So I guess I have a whole other family out there? Maybe I should see if they have any reunions nearby!?! :D

A very interesting thread indeed. . . Jacie is sort of a femme derivative of the name I was Bourne ;) with :)

And I'd like 2B Jacie 24/7 :D maybe someday.

BTW- I haven't added a last name, yet. maybe "Lyn" as I like that name as well and I flows smoothly

Naleen
01-23-2009, 11:05 AM
My name came from a series of names I made up in a MMORPG called Eternal Lands. I created a full alias to fit any situation of the online world. Naleen was actually the surname of my Male avatar, but now it sounds femme. "Naleen Atrens" is my current full female name.

Emma1976
01-23-2009, 07:46 PM
I chose Emma just cause it felt right. It was also my great grans name and if I'd been a girl or had a sister they would have been named after her. I flirted with the idea of using Charlotte or Jamie (close to my actual name) but I trust my instinct for most things in life and they never really fitted. So I reverted to Emma:)

I just chose Elizabeth. I love the name, especially one friend who had it. Love saying it. I always said if I had a girl I will like to call her Elizabeth, since it didn't happen, I decided to take it.

How? Jack went up the hill, and Jill came down. Simple.
Why? Because I find when I am shopping for a new bra and pantie set while en femme, or appearing for a reservation at a nice restaurant while en femme, referring to myself as 'Ralph' doesn't seems to have the correct ring to it.

I took a lot of time trying to come up with just the right name. There are lots of girl names I really like, but they didn't feel comfortable on me until I hit on the feminine version of my name -- decided to spell it with a "y" which helped me to feel even more feminine and then I realized, that was it! It felt right. If pressed for a middle name, I chose Kelly. So I would be Robyn Kelly. I like it.

SweetCaroline
01-27-2009, 09:35 PM
I have a long history with the name Caroline. I first noticed it as a teen, in the song "Pretty in Pink" (I had a huge crush on Molly Ringwald). I had already started CDing on a regular basic. I was a bit of a loner as an early teen, and didn't have many friends. I lived in a rich fantasy world. In one of the fantasies I was a rock star and one of the members of my band was a tall, tom-boyish girl named Caroline Scott. Years after that, in College, I tried to write a comic book (which I later wrote out as a full length novel). Basically a Metaphor for my teen years. The main character was a 16 year old girl, otherwise normal, who had her genes spliced with a lion, turning her into a Lion Lady. Her name was Caroline Anderson. Years after that I added a middle name, Emily, after Emily Dickenson, since I fancied my femme persona to be something of a poet. So that's how I became Caroline Emily Anderson today.

Jeannie was a real estate agent I used to by a house with along time ago and it is totally different from my male name. She was very nice and helpful and I really liked her. I am trying to decide on a last name but haven't picked one yet. I am thinking of something on the order of Smith, Smyth or something like that.

KellyanneLondon
01-31-2009, 06:44 PM
When I first dressed I chose the name Maria, my sisters best friend but when I started to dress more seriously I chose Kellyanne as this was the name of a girl I knew from college and I liked it as I thought it was different and not as well used as other names at the time and as what usually happens friends call me Kelly or Kel anyway.
My surname of Stewart was my mothers maiden name and in case your interested I chose a middle name of Louise as this would have been my name if I had actually been born a girl.
I have recently thought of changing my name because I have been feeling it was a bit young for me but then I think why..... its part of me now.

I only decided on my name recently, my misses thought it would be easier if we were out and about,

Eventually decided on Bethany, it is a very similar structure to me real name, and i think it suits my personality, it even stats with the same letter which makes all my atm cards easy to use when out as her,
and more importantly i like the name.

I was thinking about this topic early this morning. Why we choose the names we have? Are we still happy with the ones we chose? Do they fit the feminine side of ourselves today? I recently chose the name Rayne (Ra-nay) but found out that someone else had already choosen it. I thought it was an original, but someone else here thought of it also; so I had to add a 1 to the end. That is alright, there are many others who choose similar names with others and have to change there's slightly. I think it is a fabulous name. I am not sure where I came up with it, but it seemed to fit me.

Someone should use the name Miss L. Toe.

Lillica
02-04-2009, 07:38 PM
I always loved the name Lily, it was pretty and sweet. I had debated long and hard between Lily and Lillium (A Type of Lily). But while I was debating the name Lillica came to me as a cute girly sweet name that would be cute and unique for myself.

Eventually after alot of though and feeling about with the sounds of names, I've settled on Lillica Kirsch Hart. Kirsch being german (Which my grandmother is) for Cherry (One of my favorite fruits.) and Hart because well... I'm to embaressed to use my real last name and well it's cute and is a real last name. :o

When my niece caught me dressed, she asked (among a million other things) what fem name I used. When I told her, she advised me that hardly anybody gets to name themself. She told me that from then on I would be known as Anna Kate. This is after my mom (who knew I was CD) Her name was Katarina Anna. So be it!

Danica
02-08-2009, 01:54 AM
My wife and I split up after a long and at times sad marriage and I went a long stretch without dressing up. The ex knew about my dressing up but never really liked it, at best she tolerated it but I was left to do it alone when no one was home and was very lonely. We are now divorced. After our split, I met a terrific lady who became my girlfriend and best friend. She is so special to me that I didn't want to keep my dressing up a secret from her so I took a chance and told her all about. Not only was she supportive, she asked me to dress up for her when I was ready to do so. I took my time thinking about that and just before Christmas I retrieved my box of girly things out of the closet, put on my stockings, favourite dress and heels. My girlfriend really enjoys it and likes the idea of having a new girlfriend. One day she said I needed a name for my lady self. It was her who decided on Danica. I love it because of what the name means to me and the lovely person who gave it to me. I consider myself to be a very lucky lady!

Sorry about the long story, but it feels really nice to tell it. :)

Molly Wells
02-08-2009, 07:19 PM
Several years ago some people my wife worked with were having a Halloween party and we were making plans to go. I suggested that we go as a gangster and his "moll." Moll is slang for the gangsters lady or mistress. I was going to make my wife up as the gangster and I (of course) was going to be her(his) moll. Well she would have none of it (she does not approve or participate in my crossdressing so I am in the closet).
In fact she got mad at me for even suggesting such a thing and said I would embarrass her! Any way, I admit I became obsessed with the idea of the "moll" and that would be my dream costume if I were to go to a costume affair. Think of the Roaring 20's!, Flapper dresses, etc. From there came the self assuming name, Molly. Later I added Wells because, well, it seemed to fit!

I think you may have to enter a new profile to use your new name. If memory serves, the name you join under becomes the primary identifier for you and that record entry can't be changed, only deleted.

Don't be sorry for telling your story, long or short. It is precious as is your name. I can't think of a better naming.

Leslie Mary S

Whenever anyone fist sees my male name of Lysle, They frequntly say Leslie. My male name rhyms with isle. Both have a silent 's'.
All during school my classmate would try to iratate me by calling me Leslie or Lesil. I borrowed the name from my half sister. Her name is 'Leslie Ann'.
I added the last name of Shy because inside I am. I hide my shyness with a lot of vocallizations and by being in contol. This way the conversation does not normally go were I don't want it to go. I am getting over this bit of 'Ruff'.

I am no fem fatale. I am more like a favorite (old) madden aunt.

Once, I had a female friend who I fell in love with:o then, I realized it was because very deep in me, I wanted to look like her. Her name? Patricia, and we called her Paty. My female name is Chastity. I was in an AOL Cross Dresser chat room that I am always in, despite the fact that most of the time they are oh-so-mean to me, and someone asked me my name. When I told them I was Chase, which I figured was androgynous enough for a boy or girl, someone in the chat told me I should go by Chastity. It just stuck in my head.

I chose Rachel in honor of the first person I told about my crossdressing. It's also convenient that it starts with an R like my masculine name, Ryan.

Michelle A
02-13-2009, 10:06 PM
My mother told me she loved the name Michelle and that would have ben my name if I had been born a girl. My Aunt (Mom's sister) named my cousin Michelle before my sister was born. Mom said she was mad at her for months after that. So when I chose my fem name I chose what was rightfully mine.

Jenny Wilson
02-17-2009, 11:50 PM
One of the girl names I've always loved is Jennifer and I like its diminuaive, Jenny, as well. There are other girl names I like almost as much, but I needed to pick a name for an e-mail adress back in 1999, and since I didn't feel like thinking about it for a few hours I just went with Jenny.

As for my last name, I was stymied about that too. I live in the Buffalo, NY area and Ralph Wilson owns the Bills, so I just picked Wilson for a last name. I thought it went well with both Jenny as well as Jennifer.

Ironically, I am a member of another forum for one of my two professions, and there is a Jenny Wilson who is a member there. You can imagine my shock to see her name there. I even met her at a convention! Gosh, if she only knew that I was "the other" Jenny Wilson attending the convention.

Up until recently I had been using the name Elissa. After I told my girlfriend about my crossdressing, she started calling me Jessica and said that it's wrong for you to name yourself. I added the "K" because that was the name of a girl I knew since elementary school who for a long time I had hoped and dreamed I could be like.

I simply picked Jessi after a girl that I used to know and respected. I use Jessi for online. However, the name that I use in life is Hanna Rose. I'm not exactly sure, why I use different names for online and in life but I do that in male mode as well.

Carrie is what my parents would have named me if I were born female. I wasn't creative enough to come up with something on my own. I am fine with being male, in case anyone was wondering.

I picked my name by searching for names that can be male and female and then just found it - bang! That was a very special moment. The only reason I did all that was because I needed a name for my account here and then it turned out to be a big change in my life because I really never thought about that before.

03-02-2009, 12:34 AM
I found myself admiring a girl in 1st grade and wishing I was her.

When I thought that I should have a female name some time ago, I immediately thought of her and knew the name was the right one for me.

In fact I have adored the two women I have known named Megan in my life.

For some reason, I added the H to Megan to make it Meghan.

Just seemed off without the H

I have had many discussions with other TS's and how their female name was chosen.

It seems for most of them, the name chooses you instead of vice versa.

In my case, as I was unconsciously changing to be an outwardly female person little by little, and unknown to me as such, I was experimenting with being female on the net instead of male. I also created an email with my new legal name on it in Feb 2007.

Only God knows why I used that name. My Epiphany and transition day to 24/7 was July 2, 2007. The very first time someone asked me what should we call you, I answered immediately Lainie. Somehow, I just KNEW that was my real name. In Nov. I filed to change it legally, to have 4 names, my 3rd one being the feminine form of my original middle (going by!) name. I had also changed the spelling to that early in 2007, not knowing why either except I liked it better. My real name became my legal name on Jan 9, 2008. It seems like that has been my name all my life.

My second name is a name I have loved all my life that I can remember, it is ANNE, and my old initials were AN.

I changed my last name too, matching my email since I felt a two syllable name went better with Lainie than a one syllable (original) name.

Why is my name Lainie? only the supreme beings know the answer to that, I sure don't.

Hi Girls.

Nothing too exciting about my choice of name, when I was young I remembered my primary school teacher reading 'Charlottes Web' to us and how she brought the story to life...

And I knew with the way I feel ultra Feminine when Charlotte I needed a very soft very femme name I guess.

So it was natural for me to be "Sarah"

Well a few of you might have noticed that I have requested and received a modification to my name. I was Leslie Ann S(hy) and Now it is a les common and more awkard sounding of Leslie Mary S(hy). The reason is simple. My 72 year old girlfrind of 3 years (Mary) passed away 2/22/2009. I wanted to honor her so I took up her name as part of mine.
Yes she know about my crossdressing.

Shianna
03-04-2009, 02:06 AM

I looked the baby names web sites to choose Alisa. Depending on the site you go to these days, the name has varied origins and meanings. The one I like the best and the one that probably moved me to choose Alisa is:

The girl's name Alisa \a-li-sa\ is pronounced ah-LEE-sah. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "great happiness".

Leslie Mary S
03-14-2009, 04:11 PM
I went to a web site that did an annalissis of names. Here is what they said about my name Leslie:

* The name Leslie creates a very independent, practical, analytical nature with skillful business abilities.

* You desire freedom from restrictions and authority in order that you can pursue your own ambitions.
Like dress in fem attire.

* This name gives you leadership qualities and you are seldom happy in positions where you must take direction from others.
Yep thats me as indipendent as all get out.

* Material and financial success are the focus of your interests, but sacrificing much for material ambition will result in a lack of harmony and balance in your personal life, particularly a lack of appreciation for social courtesies and things of a more inspirational nature.
And you soon get broke.

* Although the name Leslie creates the urge to be creative, independent, and self-sufficient, we point out that it causes a materialistic, somewhat self-opinionated approach that frustrates higher humanitarian qualities.
Yep that's me the artist/photographer/hermit

* This name, when combined with the last name, can frustrate happiness, contentment, and success, as well as cause health weaknesses in the reproductive organs, and tension or accidents to the head.
He He, weakness in reoductive organs. that is a gas. Everyone already thinks I am a bit touched in the head (grin) even those who do not know I CD.

What is interesting is that Leslie has six letters and strangly enough there are also six bullets. This would lead me to believe that each statment is keyed just to the letters with an alternate set of phrases four repeat letters.

I wanted my name to reflect my ideas of femininity. So, I thought of nature, and of ancient ties and the past (after all, every single one of us was born of woman, who was herself born of woman, and this chain goes all the way back to the beginning of life on Earth).

So, I came upon June Willow. I know it's a bit odd, perhaps, but I automatically knew it fit me... it was my name. Both the month of June and the Willow tree are powerful and personal images for me. I'm sure I could adopt a different name someday... but this will always be the one that holds the most importance, and not just because it was the first!

Mirel
03-18-2009, 10:08 AM
For some reason, the name Mirel has always clicked with me... Something about the name is just... desirable.

It's actually a short version of a rather unique name I thought up for myself once upon a time... But I don't like that one so much, it's the kind of name you'd expect your mother to call you in a stern voice when you're in trouble. :heehee:

03-25-2009, 10:13 AM
When I was a young teenager, my older sister had a friend named Punkie Fox. No kidding. She was beautiful, petite, with a great body, golden tan and a perky personality. I was totally smitten with her. My sister and her friends had lots of girl-only parties at our house. The most memorable were pool-side when they would skinny-dip and sit around nude or partially covered with a towel. I was 13 and they were 16. One day I was able to peek through the fence right at Punkie's exposed female essence. I have never been the same since :)

I started my alternative journey with the name Karezza (google it if you are interested). Since that is a difficult name to pronounce or remember, in introductions to new people, I usually said, "Just call me K." From there it made since to adopt the name Kay as a nickname for Karezza. Then I remembered Punkie Fox, the girl from my adolescence I would most like to resemble. So I have added Fox to my name, calling myself Kay Fox.

Now, your advice please. I have been reluctant to call myself Punkie Fox for fear it would be misconstrued as presumptuous, like I think of myself as a foxy lady, and a punky one at that. I'm no fox, but I'd love to be the real Punkie. So, should I just go for it, even though some people might misunderstand? Secondly, how can I change my displayed name here? For the life of me, I can't figure it out. Should I just re-subscribe with a new name and notify all of my friends, or can I make the change in my current subscription. Thanks for your indulgence of this long post, and for your help.

I knew a girl named Punkie in the 1950's. I helped her move when she got married.

I would think that you should name yourself legally whatever you like. I don't think Punkie Fox is presumptious. There are many people who have the same names. I found over 150 people in Texas who bore my original male name, exactly, spelling and all, which for two of them was not the commonest spelling.

I googled my new name and found lo and behold there are two well known Lainie Nelson's, one is a singer in London, the other played in movies, in Bewitched on Television too.

Then I found out that Empress Lainie is also well known.

So go, girl, be yourself, to thine ownself be true and damn the torpedoes full speed ahead!

Mine I chose yesterday when I registered. I though about it for about an hour and settled on what I liked.

Brianna is the name I chose as it has my masculine first name in it and I figured that it would be easiest to recognized when called it due to being used to the other. Other reasons for picking it was that I have known only a couple gg's with the name and I really like the way that it sounds. I had a name that I liked from my ancestry but chose not to and one other meant a lot to me but it just seemed to masculine.

Well i know my screen name here is Ujean, but I really use the name Jamie. My grandmother is VERY southern and back when she used to watch me instead of using my first name she would call me Jamie so you could say my grandma named me. Why she would call me Jamie to this day I still have no idea....maybe she knew something about me even before I knew it myself. :)

My wife called me Nancy making fun of me for being effeminate. The name just grew on me and she calls me that sometimes, but i'm proud of it.

I've no idea really it just sort of happend though i'd put it down more to friend who started calling me Gavina (Gavin - Gavina) around the same time that Davina McCall became famous in the UK and the it stuck i guess.

Other names i've liked are Alyson and Kirsty.

I grew up during the 1960s, so when I thought of a very feminine name I naturally thought of Marilyn Monroe. Being as I am actually light years away from that model of feminine beauty, I changed the spelling to make it look like you might say it Mary Lynn.

I think this is fascinating! 17 pages already! I guess we really do want to share this one! Many different routes, but many similar.

I didn't have a "name" for many years, I just dressed a bit now and then. When I started realising what this was about and that my "other side" would never leave, I realised that "she" should develop as someone and have a name... a sort of "flip" version of my male name... Kaz fitted, felt natural and I like it... though it is a common diminutive in the UK for Karen. So I'm Karen, but prefer to be known as Kaz... :heehee:

These names make interesting reading. I arrived at Bronwen, which is Welsh for whitebreast. My skin silicones are not far off. Using my boy name in some form was not easy, as the only one easy to remember was Wilma. I thought of dear Fred, and thought that I must move my image away from that and so Bronwen it is. Lovely Spring weather today. Love to you all. Bronwen in Eden XXX

My female name is Denise...

Of course, my real name isn't Dennis but was a nick name given to me in HS. It was my wife that was the first to call Denise; originally poking fun of my HS nickname. Crazy thing is I actually liked it, thus, my female name emerged...

Nattastic
04-16-2009, 12:39 PM
I felt funny at just up and taking on a female name. It didn't seem right. Of course I didnt want to be called by a male name either - and was faced with the dilemma. I avoided the name thing all together for a bit - realized that wasnt going to work - and was considering an androgenous name like Pat, or A-man-duh, just nothing seemed to work for me for whatever reason.

I sometimes felt like a super-hero whilst changing into fem mode, and I had sort of been using Natalie as my name when I had to... Natalie - Fantastic...

I just blended the two and was left with, well... Nattastic. If I were going to go FT, I was going to change it to Symerika though. I think its a Polish name - always liked it.

Wendy Walker
04-20-2009, 04:49 PM
I used to think of myself as a Vicky or Sophie, but I then someone called me Deirdre because they thought it was more fitting for someone who was big and ugly. I even went on a friends hen weekend as Deirdre.

I became Wendy when I got an e mail address. Wendy starts with the same letter as one of my christian names. My Mother was a Young Conservative so I had a number of christian names to choose from.

I sent a list of about 50 options to a friend to choose my middle name. She picked two that weren't on the list, so I picked Catherine because I liked it and it sounded less catholic than Maria. Well, I have enough guilt already. :)

I chose Ellen in part because it is one of several names I have always liked and seemed a bit English - somehow it just seemed right for this person I'm discovering. The last name, James, just seemed to go well with it and I thought only rock stars could get away with one name - :battingeyelashes:

Jacueen
04-24-2009, 07:11 AM
My given name is Jack. When I was a child everybody called me Jackie, so when I decided I needed a female name I first thought "Jackie can be either male or female, so I'll use that." But I soon realized that Jackie didn't help me think of myself as feminine, only as a little kid. I'm 55 years old - not a young girl in my head, rather a woman - so I started trying to develop my own new name. I tried combining my own name with several transgender words to come up with something. One was Jack + Tran = Jan, but that was too short and too common for me. Finally I took Jack + Queen (no, I'm not gay) and settled on Jacueen. I like the way it sounds and the fact that it seems relatively unique.

;) Jacueen

Alice Green

I was trying to come up with a name to register for this site- Angie popped into my head, which made me think of the Stones song of the same name. Then the last name- Jagger? No, too obvious. So I picked Richards, which then made me thing of Rene Richards (though I am not TS). So anyway I like it.

Marie-Claire
04-30-2009, 08:53 PM
If I had been born female, my name would have been Barbara. So what.

Marie-Claire magazine has such wonderful fashions and articles. I wished I could be Marie-Claire. So I waved my magic wand, and here I am.
Besides, I don't think Vogue would have been much of a name.

Different names really can give me a different feeling. Once in a while, I am, for a short time, Cordelia, the good daughter in Shakespeare's King Lear. I'm tall, so when I fantasize about being a supermodel, I'm Carol Alt. I think she was the first great one.

But Marie-Claire is a name that works for me all the time.

I have not picked a name yet since i don't feel I have an alter femme ego. I just love to crossdress from the waist down. I am tall 6'3" and used to be slim as a child. My Father used to call me Slim. In our back yard growing up I used to climb our willow tree. Slim / Willow they kind of go together. If or when my alter ego appears, I think I will call her Willow.:o

Joni Marie Cruz
05-07-2009, 05:38 PM
Hi girls, this is one of my favorite topics. I love finding out how girls came up with the name they want to be called by. To me, it's one of the fun things about being TG. We get to choose a name that suits us rather than being saddled with one chosen by our parents in the hopes of flattering some wealthy maiden aunt.<lol>

I chose my first name from a g-girl I was once smitten with, she prounounced her name "Johnny" but I use a long "O" and pronounce it as though it were spelled "Joanie". My middle name is very close to my actual surname with some of the letters left out and my last name of Cruz is Spanish for cross, no, not like in grouchy, though I can be sometimes, and reflects my Hispanic heritage.

There, that's my story.

Hugs...Joni Marie

I don't have a femme name yet (I'm open to suggestions). If I was born a girl I would have been Jade, which is quite nice.

I'm happy being plain old Thom for now, even if the "h" makes me appear rather pretentious.

Being totally closeted, I didn't have a femme name before joining the forum. I had no need. But for some odd reason, for the past few years, I had been analyzing female names, trying to choose in my mind which one I liked the best. I did this with actors in movies, television personalities, acquaintances, etc. I really came to like the name Julie very much, so that's my name!

AlannahNorth
05-12-2009, 10:50 AM
I've never been out and about 'en femme', so as a result I never really did feel a need to pick a name. I choose 'Alannah' for the forum as the feminine version of one of my given names. It seemed to make sense. So far, I like it.

I started out as "Vicky" back east, back in the closet.
I moved to the SF Bay Area 2.5 years ago. While on a trip with my GF the name "Patina DeCopper" just sort of came into my head.
I liked that one a lot bettter. My GG GF thinks "vicky" is too much of a "Delaware Librarian" name.
A few months after I came up with the new name, I began performing in a band that backs up Burlesque performers. EVERYONE in that scene uses a stage name.
So now "Patina" is a drag performer. I'm loving it!

When I first started going out dressed 'en femme' I hadn't actually thought much about a femme name until the club we attended asked what my dressed name was. Spur of the moment decision my wife and I agreed Lola. As per The Kinks song Lola which we'd listened to earlier in the day. This is still the text message ring tone on my mobile!!!

However, I never felt quite, ooh, you know, comfortable with Lola then a mis addressed envelope arrived for me, the company sending the mail had misspelt my name and it had become a female one which I now use; Leona.
So, there you are a concise explanation of how I arrived at Leona! X X X

Xenia
05-15-2009, 10:29 AM
For the longest time, I'd never given any thought to a femme name...after all, I was firmly closeted about my dressing and assumed I'd always be that way, so why bother figuring out what other people would call me?

After I came out to my fiancee (now my wife), she asked if I had a name I called myself. With a chuckle and a suitably dramatic accent, I declared, "I am Tatiana!" A jokey name that I've never really felt any connection to, but my wife will still occasionally calls me "Tati."

Xenia was a name that had come up in a conversation about possible baby names that my wife and I had shortly after we got married. We both loved the feel of it, but agreed it was probably a bit too fussy to actually give to a baby...and we were worried that it would be constantly mispronounced. (It's KSENN-ya, with a short "e" in the first syllable, and not "ZEE-nee-a.") But it is a pretty name that I felt needed to get used somewhere, so I took it on impulsively when I signed up here. Still trying to get a feel for whether or not it's really "me." But really....how can I not love a name that starts with an X? :)

I cant remember exactly where it popped into my head, but I have 2 possibilities.

1: Its the name of a girl i used to talk to online when i was learning about myself when i was a teenager

2: Jennifer is the modernized form of Gweneviere, and i've always been a fan of King Arthur's story tales, etc.

Well, back during my pre-internet T-life, "Dragazine" had a regular feature called "The Drag Name Game" with entries like Natalie Drest, Ima Mann, Amanda Love, Shawn Delear, Latrina Bidet, etc. My wife and I still come-up with new joke stage-names from time to time. I always thought it was fun, so my earliest online ID was Barbie Kendall. I don't think of it as a "real" name just my online handle.

That is a good one...

My female name is Allie Summers.

First I wanted to pick a name that starts with "A" since my male name starts with and "A"...Alan. I chose Allie because some of my neices call me that.

I would have prefered to stick with my real last name because I really don't look at Allie as a different person or alter ego. She is really me on the inside and she gets a chance to come out sometimes.

Since I didn't want to totally come out then I decided to come up with a fake last name too. Since I love the sun and the water and working on my tan I decided to use my favorite time of the year...Summer.

That is where I came up with the name Allie Summers.

Kisses,

Allie

I invented the character of April long before I had admitted to myself that I want to be her. She was my "ideal" girl. the perfect girl for me. I'm not sure when I named her or why. I think April to me represents new beginnings and change. I'd been looking for my April Sunshine for years until I finally found her. Me.

I chose the name Catherine O'Malley for Catherine the Great and Grace O'Malley, the pirate queen of Scotland. I've been going by the name Cathy, but as an old broad of 59 and still rough around the edges, I've decided to change it to Cate. Cate O'Malley. I'm a writer and an actor and a pirate and sailor and just pasted the cannon class at the Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine, FL, so the old broad can add cannoneer to her resume'. If you need some one to wipe your tears, hug your neck or stand and repel boarders, I'm your gal.

My username is hose_n_heelz, because that is what I love so much.

I am using Coral Miller when I am femme either in person or virtual. The last name is kind of plain, which I wanted. It is the last name of a good friend and really, otherwise, random.

I liked the first name because it was somewhat exotic. The name really also comes from some word play that I came up with when I discuss my outings with certain close friends. I love to doll-up, but when I am in really hot heels and sexy pantyhose, I can be a little naughty. :)

Pauline Lauren
05-31-2009, 03:31 AM
Initially, I used Pauline when I would occaisionally crossdress over the years, it being the feminized version of my male name. Since dressing has become a more important part of my life, I thought about the name I wanted to use. I was surprised to realize just how attached I had already become to Pauline, because nothing else I thought of seemed to sounds right to me except Pauline!

My middle name, Lauren, is also an alteration of my male middle name, but I just loved the way it seemed to flow together with Pauline. Now I find I am quite more taken with the way Pauline Lauren sounds and looks than I ever was with my male name!

I often thought about this but never made an official decision while I wasn't talking to anyone about it. However I have had a few female characters in various games and one of them had to be Polish and ended up being Agnieszka.

I hadn't thought about it in a long time but as I read over topics like this before I joined, I knew I was never very fond of the female versions of my own name and Agnieszka came to me again. This was followed by my favorite Russian name Svetlana and as I double checked my spelling at the last second, I was struck by Irena which became my middle name.

To me, all of these pronounced correctly and especially with a Slavic eastern european accent have to be among the most feminine names I have ever heard. In Slavic tongues, even your last name is feminized though I admit my own is an improper Russian-style middle name that should be a patronymic based on a male name. Thankfully, while I can speak a little Russian, I consider myself mostly Polish from my mother's side so my female portion might as well follow suit.

To get the full effect of my names, one needs to imagine the proper pronunciation, perhaps with an accent as well.

Supposedly: ahg-NYESH-kah ee-RE-nah svyet-LAH-(nova)

Now that she has a name, I really wonder if she is now officially separated from my official personality. Names have power and I've felt like she has been in charge most of the time over the last two days as I really wonder.

I'm kind of a mental person so in choosing my name Shaylee I looked to some obscure thing. Shaylee is an Irish name depicting a fairy, you know with wings and such. In looking into fairies more I came across an old wives tale that there were no male fairies and that all fairies had no sex at all but took on the appearance of a female so they could be beautiful. It fit the way I felt at the time. Looking like a female but not being one. By the way this legion is why in folklore the Irish used to dress their boys like girls until twelve, so the fairies would not steal their boys. Evidently the fairies have no use for girls.:heehee:http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/images/smilies/heehee.gif

I chose Mattie. Since it's more or less a female version of my given name.

I don't really know where my female name came from. It just kind of felt natural to be called Jessica. For some reason I always used to look if that name was ever said out loud. I don't know why.

It's kind of strange how I realized it was my female name though. When I was 15, I was talking on msn to this guy who went to my school. He didn't know who I was when I started talking to him (Even though he knew who I was in real life), he thought I was one of his girlfriends friends. He kept referring to me as a female the whole time, and I usually don't even pay attention to things like that so I didn't even think to correct him. I lived in North Carolina at the time, right on the bible belt, which was horrible since I was bi :\. I forget how it came up but he mentioned something along the lines of "Gays should burn in hell" blah blah blah. Then for some odd reason, right after, he asked for my name. I didn't even think twice, I just typed out 'Jessica'. It felt so natural, that I decided to keep it as my female name.
