Are all public appearances are exciting as the first one.?

I thought that was not going to make it. I stopped in three of four places before I was courageous enough to do it. My heart was beating so fast... When I was paying at Walgreens, my knees were shaking, my hands were wet, and I was so excited...

I was wearing a 4" black shoes, with a black pantyhose, a skirt about three to four inches above the knees, a blouse, and a matching coat.

I felt that everybosy was staring at me. I don't know if it was really true, but that was my impression.

Can anybody tell me if next experiences are easier and as exciting as the first one?

Hi CDjww,

I still get excited and apprehensive about my outings. I pre-plan them (even if I only plan them a few minutes before I go out), make sure I won't need the ladies room (although I got caught out last week on that, so I found a quiet ladies room).

It definately gets easier, and I'm finding it gets more addictive, or is it that I'm just more confident and slowly working towards what I feel is my ultimate goal - to live as a girl.

Have a read of my thread 'Out & about'.

Way to go! It only gets better.

If you are concerned about being "read" let me offer a few tips:

Always wear something appropriate for where you are going. That outfit would be fantastic in many other places, but I know that if I wore 4" heels and a miniskirt to my local Walgreens, I would stand out. The heels would also make me 6'2" tall, which would tend to reinforce the problem.

Another suggestion is to wear sunglasses (assuming you're outdoors and it's not dark out) until you get your confidence up. With sunglasses, you can look people right in the eye without them knowing it. It's a great way to find out whether people are staring at you or whether they are simply glancing in your direction like any other pretty girl.

There will always be butterflies in your tummy when you venture out, but like anything else, the more practice you get, the easier it gets and the better you get at it. Ask Windy (http://snurl.com/askwindy)

Venturing out is something I want to try so bad ! My God, it would be fabulous.

Glad to hear you made it, getting out that first time is a huge step. I can't say if all outings are as exciting as the first, but the first for me is still the most vivid. As for getting easier, that depends on what you have planned, but more importantly on how you dress. High heels and short skirts attract a lot of attention, most of us are taller than women to start with so if you are trying not to be noticed keep that in mind. As Rachel mentioned be sure not to get caught out, having to use the ladies room is by far the trickiest part and could erupt into something of a scene. Basically we learn as we go, so good luck on your next one. A word of advice though, if you hear a rude comment or anything of the sort, just keep moving and ignore it.

I get so excited when I go out everytime but the first time was breathless! I love the way a woman's heels sound walking and with you doing the 4" heels, the chirp alone would make me look. When I dress, I feel the same that people are looking at me but I coyly turn to them, smile and sometimes winkor blow a kiss and make a quick escape out the door. It is a real turn on for me to do a "tease" and one day it might get me in trouble but for now I get off being Darby and making guys heads turn! I was in a mall a little while back with one of my really long wigs , a short dress and heels and a guy got slugged by his wife for looking to long. What a charge for me that was because his wife was a looker herself! It does get easier and with your confidence comes a more smiling and more feminine appearance and aire! Practice, enjoy and relax. When in drab, look at the women that you like the looks of and see how they "operate" and keep that in mind when you dress. If dressed/wigged/madeup well, sure guys will look because your a good looking woman in their eyes!

Over the past several weeks, I've had the opportunity to sit and watch people in crowds...airports, public gatherings, streets, etc. or just out and about going thru life. The one thing that I've noted is how alike and appropriate (sometimes) MOST of the people were dressed. Also, almost everyone had at least one thing...a piece of clothing, hair, ribbons, mismatched clothes, etc.,...out of place. Basically, no one was show window perfect or looked like they just stepped out of their front doors. However, show window perfect is usually how we, crossdressers, try to always be! As much as we want to PASS, be accepted, and not be noticed, our drive to have our hair, make-up, and clothing just right can be a giveaway.

If, among the many women that I saw, there was a sister, I did not see you...congratulations!
