After I came out to my wife she asked me about my collection of Hawaiian shirts, specifically if they were a substitute for womens clothing when I had to wear male shirts. I thought about it and some of the silk shirts with the wonderful patterns are about as close as it comes to being exactly that. I'm currently at about 35 shirts and the collection grows. Are these a part of anyone elses wardrobe?

Yep. I thought of me when I saw the title of this thead. I know exactly where you are coming from. Both the prints and the colors off Hawaiian shirts have become a sub for womans clothing when not dressed. Dressing in womens clothes is a way of expressing myself, why shouldn't my male clothes be the same.

I don't have quite as many shirts tho, but I do have a few good ones...

Ahhhh. No!! Maybe on the big island but here in the mid-west... Not even an option... Ok maybe a black and gold one.. Steelers colors... But personally, I've never been attracted to them and though I've never really thought about it till this second.... I wouldn't consider them as defacto substitute for womens clothing... In my humble opinion... At least for me...

But if they make you happy than that's all that counts!!

Never thought of it like that, but, yes, I have a dozen or so. They do make me feel good when I wear them. Most of them are the classic floral prints, too. Hmmmm.

No, I don't own any, and won't own any. I'm just not fond of them. Well, actually I dislike them very much, in the same way I dislike most big flowery prints.

I've a few, but they don't work as substitutes, mentally.

Assuming I didn't end up inn the wrong section...

I only have one. It was free for my dad's girlfriend. I would definitely say not for me but, since you mentioned it I can see the connection.

Have several, wear them occasionally. Never really thought of them as substitutes. In fact some of mine are women's!!:heehee:
