I bought mine at a beauty store in a local mall. It was pretty inexpensive.

Try wigsalon.com and paulayoung.com, both are pretty reasonable.

You can find wigs on ebay that look decent (at least in the pictures) for very little. I just bid and won one for $9.99, plus $6.95 shipping. Only problem is you won't know how it'll look on you until you get it. But for that price, it's worth a gamble.

I've bought a few wigs at "Mom and Pop" wig shops. I go in guy mode and try different styles. After you get over your initial self consciousness, it becomes fun, and the owners are usually very friendly, anxious to make a sale.

Same here. If the salespeople have been working in that store for any length of time, they should be accustomed to helping out crossdressers. Whenever I'm looking at wigs and someone comes over to help me, I respond with a simple - "I'm a crossdresser", which they usually respond with a very hushed and discreet - "Would you like to try anything on?"

They are both human hair and very cheap for a real hair wig(I think)
you can get synthetic wigs cheaper but I don't think they are as convincing
the one in my Avatar is synthetic and although I love the colour I don't think it looks convincing in daylight.Hope you find somthing you like

welshire wigs are really great quality, but if you're on a budget you'll probably only afford the closeout section. www.wigs.com isn't bad either. Ebay sometimes has some really great priced wigs too. if you're not going out but just want to see a look, might want to try a costume wig.

I have bought 2 cheap wigs on ebay and, guess what, they look cheap!

I finally scraped together enough to buy a wig reduced in sale to where I could afford it. It wasn't so much more than the cheap ones. It arrived today, and the difference is truly amazing - it looks and feels as though it belongs on my head - it makes me look like a woman, even dressed in drab it still works. If the hair is right, the rest of you will stand a better chance.

As I live in the UK, I got mine from www.wigsworld.co.uk (http://www.wigsworld.co.uk)

I bought a wig from a wig salon from their bargain box for $25. It is rather cheap quality, but it looks marginally ok. I don't have any pictures for you. When I was there, the lady put it on me in a styling booth. She said that sometimes they get guys who want wigs for other reasons. She didn't seem approving. A couple years later, I was one of those guys. She helped me again then. She didn't remember me. A really good wig costs ~200.
